साहिर लुधियानवी की ये नज़्म कितनी बार भी पढ़ लें जी नहीं भरता। नज़्म का हर एक लफ़्ज़ अगले लफ़्ज़ से बख़ूबी गुँथा हुआ , हर एक मिसरा अगले मिसरे से मिलने को जैसे हाथ बढ़ाता हुआ ..........अल्फ़ाज़ की ऐसी जादूगरी कि बस क्या कहें ? ग़ालिब के शब्दों में .....
आते हैं ग़ैब से ये मज़ामी ख़याल में .....
या फिर अजय सहाब की ज़बानी ......
मेरी ग़ज़लों में तुझसे साहिरी है ,
तुझी से है मेरी जादूबयानी।
ये नज़्म 1945 में लिखी गयी ...तल्ख़ियाँ....में मिलती है ।साहिर ने शायद अपनी पहली मोहब्बत ‘मोहिन्दर’ के लिए लिखी हो, लेकिन उनकी ज़िन्दगी में अमृता प्रीतम का नाम कुछ ऐसे जुड़ा कि ज़ेहेन में बस अमृता का तसव्वुर ही आता है ,लिहाज़ा visuals में साहिर के साथ उन्ही की तस्वीरें हैं ।
हाँ ! एक बात और ... अगर ख़य्याम साहब और यश चोपड़ा साथ न होते तो नज़्म शायद इतनी मक़बूल नहीं हो पाती और एक literary circle में ही पढ़ी और सुनी जाती ।
इस नज़्म का एक और live version,’अल्फ़ाज़ और आवाज़ ‘ की जानिब से साहिर को ख़िराज -ए - अक़ीदत ।

I m a tamil. Since i joined in Govt job i had to work in many regions. Naturally i fell in love with learning Hindi and also liked Hindi songs. Particularly this song enticed me by its beautiful meaning bhavartha and sweet music. This reminds me English poem "solitary reaper".Really those days were joyful & memorable. not really- sahir started writing poetry and attending mushaira's when he was 12-13 and amrita pritam came into his life pretty late almost 20 years late so dont take the credit away- yes may be his love and romance could have added some flavor in his poetry and made it more powerful and enhanced it .

Actually it's Hindustani nazm renamed by creator of Pakistan. Urdu had no history except Hindustani language before partition. I don't defame Urdu .Whatever name you give to a Rose it will be remain Rose as beautiful as it was.Urdu is a Hindustani language not Pakistani by its birth and history...Those people are ours not any other part of world.
Actually Urdu born in India before partition and it is loved by both countries. I love Hindustani or called Urdu very much

This is more beautiful than what is in movie what a outstanding voice
yes that is because this kalaam was modified and made into simple understandable language for the film goers at the insistance of yash chopra and other than that even mukesh had difficulty in pronouncing the urdu words so but obviously the original which came straight out of heart will weave its magic no doubt about that.

The first time I heard the lyrics by Sahir Sab was during 1966 when I have seen the great multistarrer Hindi movie, "Waqt" by B R Chopra from Mangalore. I am not able to forget the great songs by Mahendrakapoor Sab, Ashaji, Mannada and great Rafisab in this movie. Lyrics of the songs by Sahir Sab from movies, Gumrah, Humraaz. Aadmi Aur Insaan. Kabhi Kabhi and so many others... who would forget the same? Lyrics and Music are heavenly...🙏🙏🙏
