Dont forget about the VLFC from Meyer. It's operating frequency range is 13 - 35hz, that is at 125db using M-noise. The 2100-LFC "only" does 30hz to 125hz at 129db
In an interview Metallica with Front of House engineer Big Mick talked about using Meyer Sound for one of their tours. They used 2 stacks of 21 VLFC subs, they used them for creating shock waves and explosion sounds instead of pyrotechnics.
From my 8 year time in the Live sound world, Meyer Sound products always came across as the "Hi-Fi" speaker system.

The frequency response of PA subwoofers usually doesn't go as low as home theater subs, because generally, the purpose of PA subs is to sound loud for large crowds in large spaces. The purpose of home theater subs is to sound deep for home theaters, which are generally relatively small spaces. That is the reason why the Meyer 21" only goes down to 30 Hz, whereas home theater subs of a similar size can usually go down below 20 Hz.
If you want to sound deep, you have to sacrifice total volume. If you want to be loud, you have to sacrifice deep bass.

Meyer ARE the hifi PA loudspeaker.
I'm a studio guy that has branched out into doing live sound. After 10 years of using consumer grade gear, I've finally gotten to purchase some Meyer gear. It's the closest to studio monitors I've ever heard. I already have a pair of UPQ-1ps, and a pair of Ultra X-42s. Getting a pair of 900 subs later this year, then a pair of the X20s and 112 subs.
I don't know the exact cost of the 2100, but it's older brother the 1100 about 20k usd, so I'm guessing the 2100 will be about $25k
    The future is now.

      What about L'Acoustics and D&B?

    • @StereoAnthony
      @StereoAnthony 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@TheMatsushitaMan They are tuned to sound good, not to sound accurate. They accentuate frequencies. Meyer are designed to sound accurate.
Its just a matter of personal preference.

@@StereoAnthony ah, in that case I prefer the Meyer accuracy (or accuracy in general lol)

They are actually cheaper then the 1100, roughly $17k for the 2100

Meyer Sound are the best. Absolute hifi at levels that tear your head off and make your eyeballs vibrate. Their software and speaker management is top notch. I'd rent stacks with a Meyer 1100 LFC, a d&b J-Series sub and a 3x Meyer Leo line array stacked on top. Did 12 stacks of those in the round one night. RMS and watts don't come into it with big PA like Meyer. It's not so important when you're thinking about sound like in Bob McCarthy's book.

Please please please review PowerSound Audio subs. They have crazy powered 21s, 18s, etc. All at pretty crazy prices. No professional reviews to be found but every owner says they are amazing. The owner was part of SVS.

It's probably more accurate to say Big Mick used Meyer for Metallica, and with him they put together the most solid, enjoyable shows _more consistently_ than pretty much any music artist in history. Their current engineer over the last three years does just as Mick did.
Any amazing, talented live lead engineer nowadays cites Mick Hughes as an influence, genre being besides the point.

If your MLP is 50 feet and more away, the Meyers would be perfect!!
