    Which state was this in?

Phoenix Arizona, a really old round only arena in a very dilapidated area.

@@evankeal Yup this venue is also where Frank Zappa acquired his famous 'Baby Snakes' SG guitar from a fan in the 1970's. A fan showed him the home built guitar modeled after a Gibson SG .Frank like it so much he purchased it on the spot from the fan.I saw a few good shows at the Celebrit theater many years ago...Queensryche around 2002ish and Dream Theater around 2004

@tweevers2 lived here since the 70s but have never been there. Videos don't really give a good feel of the room but it seems pretty unique to me.

@@evankeal yeah it does sadly kind of suck sound wise. Unless you are up by the stage and get raw non PA sound. The PA system for the round room has really bad acoustics. I sat farther back for the Queensryche show, the sound was muffled. As well as the sound itself simply sounded like it was being played through a loud car stereo or loud THX movie theater speakers. I was up close for Dream Theater, it was decent. I enjoyed the raw natural sound of the drums together with them through the PA in the back ground. The room itself and the sound truly have a look and feel like you are in a Harkins or AMC movie theater screen room instead of a live music venue,It is weird... and yup that neighborhood is not one to hang around in after a show that is for sure.

@tweevers2 cool, thanks for the detail, Portnoy became my favorite drummer by far a few years ago, that dry sound he had back then (and sometimes since) is so good to me. I have wanted to be in a room with him drumming to hear that sound direct.
