All good advice but why ask Sri Lankan’s to eat strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, & other berries native to western countries? They are not FRESHLY available in Sri Lanka & even if they are they are expensive. What about similar Sri Lankan berries like ugurassa, dam, eraminiya, lovi, mora, palu, himbutu, bovitiya, indi, nelli, gal siyambala veralu and other berries that are at the brink of extinction due to deforestation? Has anybody studied their nutritional values? It is a shame that we don’t appreciate our own delicious berries and the new generation is not aware of such fruits. The craze in the US is a fruit called Acai that only grows in the forests in Brazil that claims to have the highest antioxidant values. Surprisingly this fruit is very much similar to the indi berries -small purple berries that grow in a bunch of stalks on a small short palm like tree ( not rata indi) that grows in the wild in Sri Lanka. Unfortunately most children in Sri Lanka today have not only eaten but never seen or heard of this delicious indi fruits!
