I suffer from Bipolar-I. I've been depressed twice. On both occasions I was given antidepressants. Whereas these assisted and ameliorated the symptoms, they did not cure me from the depression. What cure from the depression was to remove what caused the depression, then the body healed. In the first case I was taking some medication for a hiatus hernia that caused the depression. Once I stopped taking the medication for the hiatus hernia then my body began to recover from the depression. It took about for months. On the second occasion the depression struck because I was a person who was incapable of opening doors. So I began to worry that that the money that I had would not be sufficient to pay for upkeep and the worry triggered the illness. Now by chance I was able to find work that took me out of the depressive phase and since then I began to change my person so that I could open doors. Now that I can open doors, I no longer get depressed.

100% a lot of people want there to be a reason and depression is easy to say. I thought I was a few times but now I know I am. I was not so much before though. But we ourselves don't really know what it is until we actually experience it. I have babysat actual ADHD kids and I can tell you, hyper kids don't all have it. You will know the impact of it when you see it.

Hey, I’ve been on antidepressants for about 5 months now and they’ve made me happier, less stressed, and overall less anxious. I will say that when given the choice between a daily pill called escitalopram, or lexapro, and an as needed pill with some adverse side effects, I chose the daily pill to keep the potential side effects to a minimum, and I am happy to report that I have personally had no adverse side effects.

Dear Ranveer you did asked correct questions but Neurologist are not the one who are trained to treat Depression,Anxiety so better you call some psychiatrist on show to get more specific answers related to mental health and to keep indian crowd very clear in there minds that if they got Depression or Anxiety or any emotional issues the first doctor to visit is psychiatrist and not to neurologist or neurosurgeon which is very common trend in India due to confusion amongst Indians by the word Neuro __brain__ etc.

Antidepressants can work up to three or four years and then you’re worse off than you were and dependent on medication and now with side effects. His evidence based medicine research is world renowned and published. He has two books. ‘Anatomy of an epidemic’, and ‘mad in America’. After the patient is had overcome depressive symptoms approximately 90% then the dose of antidepressants is reduced and then the medicines are completely stopped after all the symptoms of depression faded away. You're not dependent on te antidepressants for lifetime, please study psychiatry or ask this to a psychiatrist you'll better understand. I'm going to depression and I'm on antidepressants also, I'm a pre-medical student, I've done my research & learned from a psychiatrist, who is also a leading psychiatry faculty in India teaching the mbbs & pg students. My consultant psychiatrist also said that these medicines will be stopped after the complete treatment.

Anti depressants cause more harm than good and life will be hard regardless so unless you want drugs to numb you all the time and never live again, I would’ve suggest antidepressants unless someone is a screaming maniac. I took it and they ruined me and my problems still stayed because life has trials regardless of any pill you take. So eating right having a good sleep and waking up early working out taking care being around good people helped me a lot and not to mention faith in God really saved me

I’ve been on them for 20 years. Currently on Lexapro. For the first 15 years I think they helped. I was on Paxil at that time. In 2019 it quit working. I started having panic attacks at that time and for the first time in my life experienced suicidal thoughts. I eventually got off Paxil and onto Lexapro and my anxiety has gotten little better but mainly credit therapy to that along with the Lexapro some. Overall I think they should not be used long term if possible and I really question giving it to kids. Something is very wrong about that. My faith has played a big role in helping with those thoughts. All of the studies seem to indicate antidepressants are not very effective long term. Short
Term absolutely but long term probably not.
