CT in 1972 i was in a high school work study program. I worked in a auto machine shop was trained to do mainly all the valve jobs. The dune buggies were big back then , so we had tons of vw heads. I would sand blast them, grind the valve seats replaced many valve guides and seats and lap important matting surfaces. CT I have had many higher level jobs in my life: Tool & Die Maker, after college, Biomedical Engineer, Machine designer etc..but none as fun and enjoyable as that auto machine shop. That vapor blaster you have is one amazing machine..

That crack was almost heartbreaking to see once cleaned. I'm not sure I'd use it bud, but love the vid. Very therapeutic!

It looks good CT - but remember that the sealing surfaces for the cylinders are the narrow bands up in the pockets in the head for the cylinder barrels. Those narrow (likely around 4-5 mm wide or under 1/4 inch) bands need to be really smooth because there are NO head gaskets in these old Bug engines. Similarly, the valve tappet cover surface and the pockets for the pushrod tubes all need to be clean and smooth or they will leak.

Hi CT, hope that you are well and healthy. This vapor blaster is an amazing tool, what a difference. Wish i had one, but there is not enough space in my garage. Stay safe.
