In court houses in Canada it is different rules BUT cops cannot take your stuff without probable cause a warrant or exigent circumstances.

Difference between canuck cops and USA cops is canuck cops can stop a vehicle and demand ID from the driver, legally, for no reason other than they were bored. You have zero rights when driving
That is not exactly true. In each Province in Canada, the Highway Traffic Act (or equivalent) allows police to conduct a traffic stop to 1) verify that the driver holds a valid driver's license, 2) verify that the vehicle is registered, 3) verify that the vehicle is insured, 4) confirm that the vehicle is mechanically fit to be driven on a public roadway, and 5) determine if the driver is under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The driver must show a DL, but no other form of ID can be substituted or demanded. Failure to show a DL during a traffic stop is usually just a minor traffic offense, and it is NOT criminal obstruction. The passengers are not required to ID or to answer any questions, and the vehicle cannot be searched.
In short, a traffic stop in Canada is not the free-for-all that you may think it is.
