Heh heh heh… while at an adult leadership course and campout with Scouts, I had my "Day" bag packed with a little of everything… by the end of the course I had earned the nickname, "Mary Poppins." Every time someone needed something, I just happened to have it in my bag. One of the guys asked, "why do you carry all that stuff?" I just laughed and said, "Always be Prepared, right?" I always have a little bit of everything in any bag I have on me. One of the guys asked me if I had a kitchen sink in my bag, I said, "close! I got a bottle of water and a collapsing bowl I could use as a sink!" When I pulled out an umbrella (short collapsing kind) he says, "that’s it, you are Mary Poppins!" And it stuck… to this day, that’s what they all call me lol…
Hahaha, you ARE Mary Poppins! Holly Poppins! lool. I've always loved the Scouts motto of "Be Prepared" and you definitely are prepared with your day bag haha. It makes perfect sense in that role when you're with the Scouts though, never know what you'll need! Thanks for stopping by and checking it out my friend, I'm going to call you Holly Poppins from now on! 😂
Thank you my friend! And they better not give you crap! LOL That reminds me, I bought the hardware to make a get back whip years ago, but never made the video. Should I do it? hahaha
I like the Vertx socp sling, the larger one, but I have been using the Vertx Commuter for a few months now, and I love it. I have a bunch of velcro organizers, some Vertx, and some Amazon, and it keeps everything where it needs to be. The back compartment easy carriers a Flux Raider, flex cuffs, a single point sling, and an extra 30rd mag for post election wackyness.
Thanks for the ideas! Of the all the things you carry in there, I see all of them having everyday uses. I carry the same items, with the big difference of the flashlight - I carry a UV flashlight. I didn't carry any light with me until I started getting into collecting uranium/manganese glass. I, too, like the rectangular shaped lights as they sit in packs and pockets better, IMHO. I have been looking at slings bags for a while, but I can't decide on one yet. I currently carry a 24L pack as my EDC which I take way more than I need with me, but it feels weird when I don't have it all.
Oh that's interesting! I have a UV/flashlight combo, but I've never really found a use for the UV. It never occurred to me for something like collecting uranium glass. Although, it just occurred to me that I saw MrsFallout use a UV light for when she hunts for uranium glass haha. And yeah, I totally get how you feel. I don't carry all that much, but once you get used to a baseline level of carry, you feel naked when you don't have it! Which 24L pack is your current go to?
@@TheWeaversofEternity Condor compact assault pack. The first one I had lasted me 10 years before I started being able to see light come in through the seams. It is my go to carryon back for travel. Largest compartment has a slot that fits my Chromebook and a Kindle Scribe with plenty of room for a change of clothes and a jacket. Gloves and a beanie (toque for you north of the border) with space for a water bottle. The small pocket on the front keeps things like contact solution, chapstick, and other small quick access items. The larger front pocket holds a first aid kit and related items. I just wish it didn't have so much molle on the outside of it.
I use the alpaka tech bag mini as my purse. It keeps everything well! Once I bought it, all other bags went to the side. I even clip my fixed blade Schrade knife with uliti clip to the bag strap for quick deployment. Instead of the $30 knipex cobra, I went to the big blue hardware box store and got the vice grip version for half the price. I put a hacksaw on the ends of the handles to make it the same size as the Knipex. Done!
Nice! I like the clipped fixie to the bag strap idea. I've also used the tech case mini. It was my go to for quite a while, but I started carrying a few more things so I needed a bit more space. I still love the mini though, it's one of the best compact slings out there!
for the past year I've been using an all black "Hex Ranger DSLR Sling" I bought off amazon for about $60. I didn't like it at first, but during the summer I started using it everyday. It has a soft front pocket for phone, another section with plenty of storage and keyholder where I keep thing like pens, vaseline, small first aid kit, headphones, etc. then the large pocket where I have kept a ton of stuff like sony cameras, dji osmo, bottles of lotion/hand sanitizer, small notebooks, etc. lots of places to hook stuff on to. I originally did not like the plastic buckle or strap, but its grown on me and I consider it to be durable now. I used it 12 hours a day for a month in tokyo this past december. i carry a baggu, reusable nylon bags, in the main pocket while out there. everyday buying groceries, food, alcohol, or even like 30 pounds of thrifted clothes, I would just take all the bags and feed the sling strap through the plastic bags handles, and let it hang off the strap. it did put pressure on my shoulder but that was offset by lifting it a little with my hand every once in a while. this helped out a ton when on the train. its also very easy to switch the sling from sitting on your back to sitting on your chest, which was nice in tokyo trains. although I guess every sling could probably do that. I think this sling specifically looks nice in either position however, I believe its because of the profile and how the edges of the bag extend fabric over the strap. often with other slings the straps are thin, or the bag itself is just too square and small looking, I just dont think they look very good. this one fits my style perfectly, even when im not wearing dark colors and wear something soft looking, it can still hold up decently well especially when I throw some little keychain decorations on the zippers or pins on it lol
Haha, thanks! It was actually a gift from my brother and his wife, but I definitely love Lego, I'd probably have a bunch more sets if I had the space for it. I really enjoyed building the Hokusai Great Wave, it was very relaxing. What's the latest set you've built?
Oh hey, that last mod is pretty useful as a motorcycle rider!I use a AER City Sling majority of the time and I really hate how it slides to my side and I have to keep adjusting it mid ride.
🤗Nice whole set, Tim. Good ideas. I also like the aligning of the 'tools' in beginning, reminded me of the OR 'n setting 'my' surgical tools up😊😅. Later, later Buddy.
Thanks Courtney! Glad you could check the video out. I'm sure setting up your tools in such a way guarantees a successful operation and allows you to do your job the best! Appreciate you checking it out bro!
Haha more of my fellow baggers! I'd love to review more. I think I need to pace myself when it comes to stuff like that though as this is a paracord channel, so I don't want to stray too far from that, but I will consider more bag reviews in the future and more paracord/bag/sling projects.
I also have Aer City Sling Xpac. The overall build quality is superb. What i don't like though is that the straps are attached to the bag horizontally. This causes the bag to rest an angle at my back and not flat. Newer slings are offset by 30 degrees to 90 degrees (strap attachment to the bag)..this way the bag rests more flat on the bag. By chance do you experience this and maybe there's a hack for this? :D
If you want your sweater to be secured, recommend that you get static cord. You can use a slip knot or cord locks to retain your sweaters or bottle. I have done the "Shake" test with my water bottle and it worked until it didn't while walking to my office. Static cord has proven reliable.
I'm also an EDC gearhead, but I use my cargo shorts because I can't stand constantly worrying about losing my bag. My wife calls them my "man-purse", lol. The only problem is also a benefit, and that's weight restriction. If I carry too much my shorts want to slide off me. when I was a teen/young adult I absolutely LOVED my fanny pack for carrying my CD player, batteries, smokes, a knife, and random CDs. Believe it, or not, the best one I ever owned I got as a "free" gift for signing up for a Sears credit card. It was real leather, and it lasted for at least a decade, before I lost it. On a side note/wannabe flex, I'm satisfying my EDC collection addiction with a new watch, (Armitron 40/8309 very inexpensive, but really nice), a new pair of shades, Godzilla Minus One Blu Ray, and a Jack Daniels Zippo, (I went with that because I wanted something textured so it has grip, and the JD one is engraved). It's my wife's, and my 25th anniversary so we decided to splurge, lol. The one watch I REALLY want is the Timex Expedition Grid Shock, but they're a bit pricey, and it wasn't on sale. Guaranteed, eventually it WILL be mine! MINE, I TELL YOU! ALL MINE! 🤣
Great stuff brother! I think I used to carry a lot of stuff in my cargo pants too, but as you said the weight is a bit annoying. And Sears credit card! Oh man, that really takes me back. I never had one, but going to Sears was a core memory for me. That is some sweet gear/stuff you mentioned and congrats on the 25th anniversary, you deserve to splurge! I'm not a big Timex guy, but that Expedition looks sick, I'm sure it will be on your wrist one day!
Haha, I'm glad I'm finding more of my people! First aid/trauma stuff is something I've been meaning to add to my kit. It'll most likely seldom get used, but that's probably a good thing, and I'm sure it can be a life saver if it ever is needed in an emergency. I'm thinking even just keeping a TQ/First Aid kit in my car should be the bare minimum. Have you ever had to use the TQ?
@@TheWeaversofEternity I've driven up and assisted on several car crashes but, thankfully, no serious injuries requiring a TQ. Carrying one in my "murse" is probably overkill. FWIW I buy most of that stuff from TacMed Solutions as they make the SOF tourniquet and OLAES compression bandage. Most stuff on Amazon is copycat; I just wouldn't trust it. Also PrepMedic here on YT has great training videos!
Amazon has it listed. I just looked it up. They want $74.95 for it, which ain't too bad. With things like that, I always go with Amazon due to their returns policy. Manufacturers always try to gaslight you into you thinking it's somehow your fault the item is defective/damaged. With Amazon, you click a box, print out the return return slip, and drop it off at UPS.
Thanks! Not sure why the site was giving you trouble, my sponsors at Nitecore asked me to post that link, but my apologies for the technical difficulties. As per the other reply to your comment you can find it on Amazon as well. Thanks for checking it out!
Haha, glad I'm with one of my people! I got the CP2077 shirt from their official merch store. Do you still play CP2077? I've done 2 playthroughs and I started a third last year, but haven't been back to it. I just got to the part where the Phantom Liberty DLC starts, but I stopped there lol
@@TheWeaversofEternity I just started the DLC. I'm on my first playthrough. I brought the steam deck last year, didn't had the hardware to play it earlier. I'm so in love with this game.
@@depapa701 Awesome! I'll tell you one thing, this game is a lot of fun to come back to for multiple playthroughs as long as you change up your play style, have fun!
Actually been looing for something like this. I saw someone have a kickstarter for a sling with essentially a bungee cargo net added to it. I thought I could do the same thing with the ones I use for my bikes but found it too big and that it covers the whole thing keeping me from easy access to my EDC. As for the bag I use as a daily driver its Divoom Sling Bag. Sturdy ,spacious, and has bottom buckles for stuff like umbrellas or foldable bags, and since I'm a tron fan it has a screen panel to display graphics. The way I have mine set up it carries a packable backpack in a slit between pockets just in case I have to carry more stuff back.
I love Tron! I have that tiny pixel clock/gif display from Divoom, so I know what you're talking about. That sounds like a fun sling to have and use. I don't think I'd personally carry something like that as it's a bit too flashy for my style, but I think it's still really cool haha. Btw, have you watched Tron Uprising? If you have, let me know if you think it's worth the watch, thanks!
Great idea for the sling! I want to try a keeper for one of mine. I like a sling for being “touristy,” but if I’m going to be out all day, I’d like to have a rain shell or umbrella, or a jacket for warmth later in the day. I think I see how to thread the cord locks on. Could you suggest a rule of thumb for the length of your shock cord? One complete circuit around my flat and empty Tomtoc 7L is 32 inches. Should I start with 42”? 48”? 54”? Second question: I’ve been thinking of weaving a multi-strand lanyard or strap out of shock cord to run between my belt and the attachment ring on my wallet (or my cell phone): woven for greater strength and resistance to being quickly cut, and shock cord to stretch when I need to get cash or cards from the wallet (or to look at my phone for directions). I know the rule of thumb for paracord is a foot of cord per inch of the finished strap; 1/8 shock cord is slimmer, so still one foot per inch of the finished strap or a little less? In any particular tricks to weaving shock cord that I sGould know? Thanks so much.
Two other ideas: I have copied MauriceMoves and have #4 S-Biners on all my sling bags. If your water bottle has any sort of hook or loop, you could secure it to the sling with the S-Biner, while relying on your cord primarily for keeping the bottle from bouncing around. Another way to use your second trick would be to attach the carabiner around your torso to the other end of the sling, to prevent swinging. At least one higher end sling seller offers an attachable second strap, but this would do the same for any brand of sling. Again, thanks so much for the great ideas!
When I first became a flight medic my partners would be attempting a task and I would pull something out of one of the many pockets on my flight suit. I earned the nickname "Inspector Gadget".
Great ideas. Really like a when someone can make fun of themselves. Ive never seen those retainers before. I've got to get my hands on some. Really don't know how you come up with all these useful tips, but great job.
The opening about the bags and EDC hits waay to close to home and has me giggling as I sip my coffee and decide what bag and gear I am going to carry around today.
Im not a bag neard but, I did buy a sm sling bag for when I am out for the day and I don't wanna stuff my shorts or pants and I can just throw all my edc stuff in that and and have with me or in the car. Just to have it near and not on me if I want or on my side if I do. I think it's just a great option to have and not have a fanny pack!
For sure! It's convenient to be able to just grab a bag and go with all your stuff. And if I ever go fully fanny pack, I'll just have to really lean into it and get one with neon colors and go back to the 80's and 90's! lol
I actually considered that and had that in my original script of the video, but I didn't have the right sized shrink tubing so I went with the knots and edited that part of the voiceover out haha, thanks for mentioning that though! Edit: I'll have to revisit that joining method in a YT short follow up perhaps!
That's a pretty nice alternative! Definitely much more affordable. I have one of the Vosteed flippers so I know the quality is decent. I might just stick with the Banter though as I've already modded it with new scales and the steel is a bit better. Not that I'm a steel snob or that I use my knife super hard. Thanks for suggesting that though!
Nothing wrong with a slingbag so I really don't understand the 'hate'. I don't use slingbags at present because on my bikes they constantly get in the way but I reckon you just changed that with the last mod. Thinking on it it would be perfect on my gravel bike. I dont subscribe to all that silly aero nonsense hinting at my 'bits' so no lycra for me except under a pair of mtb shorts. Since I wear the shorts there's somewhere for the 'bina to clip to so thanks for that 😁👍 Also, apart from edc I'd able to carry some tools, sealant, tube, pump etc. and not have to cram it all in top tube bag (which spoils the lines of my gravel bike, she's a beauty lol) *AND* I'd have the essentials on my person if the dreaded serious accident should happen. One more thing - thanks for showcasing the baby hooks. They're exactly the something I've been looking for for my cargo bike.
I daily a 5.11 Tactical LV6 which I heavily modded. I used to wear a tactical fanny pack ... but it was not as comfortable (especially with a covert sidearm).
Ohh.. I've never tried 5.11 stuff, but I've only heard good things. How do you currently carry your sidearm? I'd carry a sidearm if I could, but I live in Canada so that's not an option for me unfortunately.
My City Sling 2 is my everyday driver when I just want to travel lightweight. I throw my wallet and phone in there instead of my pant pockets. It's been great so far, since it hasn't shown a single sign of wear. Edit: I modded the inside edge of the strap with gaming mice grip adhesive so the bag doesn't go sliding around on my shoulder.
OHHHHHHH! That's a brilliant mod, I haven't had too much trouble with it slipping in the winter due to my thick jacket, but I think I'll have to try that adhesive tape mod when the weather warms up. Thank you so much for sharing that with me!
@TheWeaversofEternity hey a buying advice if i might. They often do a big discount called Deep Links every now and then. As of right now i think they do 15% discount. But Deep Links can go up to 50-40% and since the last deeplink is on latest new years eve so i think the next one is usually at Eid Fitr month around March. Oh and one more. As of right now, im owning one bag and one jacket from them. The bag is just perfect, actually the jacket too but all i say is that i think their warranty service is not that on point. If you bough their products, i say might as well forget the warranty.
Great video, Tim! Really liking the adjustable shock-cord mods. for the sling bag. Also, enjoy seeing your EDC layout from your current sling bag. Along with essential EDC gear, I usually have a deck of playing cards. (You never know when you might be stuck somewhere and you can play Solitaire, or a friendly card game with others.) Happy Trails! 🏕🌲🪢
Glad you like the mods Paula! A deck of playing cards is great to have for sure. Have you ever looked into cardistry? It's another fun thing to do with a deck of cards other than actual card games. I've learned a couple of basic moves, but some of the stuff people can do is amazing haha. Just wanted to mention that in case you felt like going down a new rabbit hole.
Aw man, I'm familiar with Benjamin's work. It's superb, I think if I got one of his wallets in shell cordovan it would definitely be my end game. I have a few leather wallets from different makers such as Low Tide Leather, Lost Dutchman, and Paradrop. I love them all, but I guess it's just too fun to rotate haha. What are you currently carrying?
Rock slings are in the works! I started a rock sling video, but it's been too cold to go outside and practice. Might have to wait for it to warm up a bit before I can finish the video.
those who talk down to those who carry a sling bag are just cowardly bullies who need to degrade others to feel better about themselves. also they are just envious we are more organized and useful.

One of my favorite expressions, better to have it... Cool upgrade. I'm having trouble reaching the site for the flashlight, any alternatives? Thanks.
As a fellow bag nerd I really like into.
As a cyberpunk lover I want that shirt.
What EDC pouch do you recommend?
Great Ideas!
Always enjoyed your channel from Trinidad, West Indies
Thank you from Toronto, Canada! One of my oldest friends from childhood is Trinidadian 😁
I like the honesty 😁
Thank you for sharing! Tim, very informative video!!
I just started with paracord. What diameter do you recommend? Saw some at Home Depot
Two other ideas:
I have copied MauriceMoves and have #4 S-Biners on all my sling bags.
Oh yeah, you'd make great Canadian James Bond 😊😅
Hahaha! Only problem is that Canadian James Bond isn't allowed to carry a gun! LOOOOL
Thanks for the mod-ideas. Very cool. Got me thinking about the Rubber Killer backpacks I got in Thailand. Keep them coming.
You're welcome! And I will for sure, thanks for checking it out! 🙏
Hahaha! Glad you found it funny and yeah, that's the fun part...deciding the loadout!
last mod was the TRULLY useful one! glad I stayed at the end! (original mod was great, I'm just playn')
Hahaha…love the definition of EDC…totally true.
Haha, glad you agree!
What casio is that???
Im not a bag neard but, I did buy a sm sling bag for when I am out for the day and I don't wanna stuff my shorts or pants and I can just throw all my edc stuff in that and and have with me or in the car. Just to have it near and not on me if I want or on my side if I do. I think it's just a great option to have and not have a fanny pack!
For sure! It's convenient to be able to just grab a bag and go with all your stuff. And if I ever go fully fanny pack, I'll just have to really lean into it and get one with neon colors and go back to the 80's and 90's! lol
What watch is that ??
That's the Gshock GA2100, I added a link for it in the description
Heat shrink tubing and a dot of superglue for the shock cord ends.
I actually considered that and had that in my original script of the video, but I didn't have the right sized shrink tubing so I went with the knots and edited that part of the voiceover out haha, thanks for mentioning that though!
Edit: I'll have to revisit that joining method in a YT short follow up perhaps!
5.11 Tactical rush moab slings are hands down the best med to large sling bags on the planet.
I'll have to look into those, thanks for the suggestion!
@@TheWeaversofEternity Np. The molle is what sold me. Im not a "tactical" guy per say but the flexibility it gives is 2nd to none.
Have you considered swapping out the Baby Banter for the Racoon Cub?
Since I wear the shorts there's somewhere for the 'bina to clip to so thanks for that 😁👍
Also, apart from edc I'd able to carry some tools, sealant, tube, pump etc. and not have to cram it all in top tube bag (which spoils the lines of my gravel bike, she's a beauty lol) *AND* I'd have the essentials on my person if the dreaded serious accident should happen.
One more thing - thanks for showcasing the baby hooks. They're exactly the something I've been looking for for my cargo bike.
Like it‼️
Thanks, glad you do!
Color me inspired

Glad I could be a source of inspiration! Thanks for checking it out!
@TheWeaversofEternity 💪🏾💥💪🏾
Might need this overseas Travel Bag
I hope you make a video tutorial about Alpaka Tech Case shock cord mod the same you did to the Aer.
I will definitely do a follow up for the Alpaka Tech Case!
Thanks for the video
You're welcome!
Got a link to that bat at the end of the vid?
Just added a link to the description box!
You’re the best .
Did you by any chance have an Orbitgear before?
I haven't! I just went to their website, the Styx MK25 looks really interesting. Seems like it's packed with features. Thanks for mentioning that!
If you bough their products, i say might as well forget the warranty.
yay 2nd upload of january
Plenty more to come!
@@TheWeaversofEternity :D can't wait
I have this bag in x-pac and im going to mod it like this! Thank you gor this vid! Ps i have that flashlight its awesome😊
Great video, Tim!
Really liking the adjustable shock-cord mods. for the sling bag.
Also, enjoy seeing your EDC layout from your current sling bag.
Along with essential EDC gear, I usually have a deck of playing cards. (You never know when you might be stuck somewhere and you can play Solitaire, or a friendly card game with others.)
Happy Trails!
YES IVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT THESE THINGS YAY
Did I read your mind or did you read my mind!?? lol
I prefer to carry $20, myself, since it takes between $10 and $20 to get lunch, not just a treat.
I miss the days when we could get a meal for less than $10 😞
hey i did that fe years back
Cool! 🙌
Support group video for guys who like to carry a sling. 😂
We need each other! loool
Its a satchel. Indiana jones had one
If you’re an EDC nerd check out the double wren wallet by Benjamin bott design. It’s end game
Bravo, being prepared is like insurance, hope you never use it, essential if you do. 🎉
Make rock slings
Rock slings are in the works! I started a rock sling video, but it's been too cold to go outside and practice. Might have to wait for it to warm up a bit before I can finish the video.
those who talk down to those who carry a sling bag are just cowardly bullies who need to degrade others to feel better about themselves. also they are just envious we are more organized and useful.

I use my NutSac Speed Sling to hold my P365. wallet & keys when traveling. Last idea is pretty nice, Cheers.
