Cyclist gets SOAKED by hail & strong winds in Arundel, UK. It was scary!

Well this didn't turn out as expected. Sunday morning after the rain had stopped I decided to try and reach Arundel, which has been one of my goals. Well I did manage it, but the weather turned on me and I ended up utterly soaked, sore and scared.
I forgot to start my camera at first but realised at Wick, so the video starts there. I go to Arundel on the shortest route from Rustington, where I live. Then after getting a bit lost I headed back home on the much longer but flatter route via Ford.
I wasn't set up for narration as I cycled so just had background sound with music and sped it up so you weren't too bored. I hope this goes down ok and doesn't make you dizzy!
I've added a live map too. I'll try and do that in future, although I need to find a better way of doing it to keep it accurate.
The footage runs at 8.3 times normal speed (yea I know, 8.3 is weird, but it's related to the map playback speed which I couldn't change but it turned out to not be accurately 8.3 times at all).

Cool video. It’s crazy to see something like the journey to Arundel at speed. I found comments hard to follow as writing was quite small.

It's hard to get things like the size of writing looking good for everyone. Some watch on phones, some on laptops, some on big TV's. I'm trying to make it right for as many as possible. Not always easy but I do try. Thanks for commenting Kat.

Hi Lisa, thanks for commenting. That was a very uncomfortable ride and my bike hasn't been happy since. So I haven't been able to ride for a while. Plus I've been ill, but I'm as good as ok now. My Mum's in hospital, a family friend passed away and another is in hospital! So it's not a great time, hence a lack of videos. I'll be back though. :)

Hello Geoff.. Liked the new style video and the speed kept me engaged all around the route.. Found it difficult to read your notes and watch the road at the same time so I would have liked a voice over.. Only my opinion, but thought you might like the feedback.. Chris 🙂

Hi Chris and thanks for the positive comment. All feedback is very welcome and you make a good point. I did try to put the text in places where there was nothing to see, such as when going past the plane on display I gave time to read it all before I reached the plane - But of course most viewers wouldn't know that so would be trying to look at the surroundings at the same time. :) In future I'll do narration from home instead if I don't do it while on the ride. It's something I keep thinking of doing anyway so you've given me the required nudge. Thanks again.

Hi Lisa. To be honest, things have got worse. It's been a hell of a month. My Mother was in hospital and is now home recovering well. My Dad's collapsed twice a week apart, both times I thought that was it. He's now in hospital and I'm full-time caring for my Mum. I want to get back to videos but just can't for now. Personally I'm doing good physically but obviously quite stressed with all that's going on. Thanks for caring.

@@cwmpelennaambyth You're so kind, thank you, your comment means a lot. I had no idea anyone would worry about me so I'm very touched. Yes it's been a stressful time. Things are a little better, both parents are home from hospital and slowly recovering. My bike is up and running again after a few weeks of problems, and I plan soon to have a short ride while filming to explain to everyone who follows me what's been happening. I hate leaving it so long between uploads but it can't always be helped of course. Thanks again Angela and Clive.

How do you find the traction to be when it is wet?
Was it me or did you cycle passed the open prison at top speed 😁 I've never understood open prisons, it's like you can go out all day, do what you want and then go back for your tea, bath & bed, all at the tax payers expense!! Sorry, didn't mean to get on my soap box.
Anyway, I'm glad you made it through the hail, not sure if you are brave or just daft (hee hee)

Good question about traction. I've tested it while pushing the bike to see how the brakes and tyres feel, and it is very slippery, especially on wet fallen leaves. So when turning I'm very careful to go slow and not too sharp. Yes of course I cycled past the prison fast! Teehee. Yea I don't get them either, it's more like a free holiday camp.
