Through axles are the strongest. What you REALLY need is a hitch-mounted bike carrier where you don't need to take the bike apart every time you take it to a trail! You can get a hitch for a small car, it won't be good for towing, but it will be good for a bike rack. Trust me, it's a life changer, you set up your stuff at home and when you get to the trail you get right on and ride. It's like a dropper, once you have one you'll wonder what you were thinking before you did! If you decide to get one, check out first what carrier you want and which hitch size you need for it. There's a 2" and a smaller one, I think 1.5".
I think for a pickup, hang the bikes off the tailgate. It shortens your vehicle length and is overall more secure from burglary, car accidents damages, snugged, and better looking.
D6 is great for a person that can afford to upgrade. Its rideable in stock configuration but once a person's skills progress they will quickly outgrow the suspension. As for your comparison, it shows you don't need to have a better known, more expensive bike to have fun. I'm convinced that the best bike is whatever bike can get you outside having fun, getting excercise and enjoying nature.
Nice! Spreading the mtb love and showing people what its all about. Having fun! The front axle on that polygon always seemed like something that wouldn't age well or last, but for that price point it's still pretty sweet.
I got the d7 for like 6 months and its awsome i recently change the forks to some rockshock recon 130mm and it feels even greater also put some maxxis tires, love it for the price cant beat it! Aswome video
Good video, glad to see you with two wheels on the ground for a change (still love the wheelies though) we gotta hit Trestle some time, that’s some Great content.
The differences would be most noticeable on something like Floyd Hill, Hard Money or at Trestle. You should get out to Trestle, you'll love it. Big travel is going to help more on big features and high speed trails. Ponderosa at 3 sisters (the trail in this video) is a techy trail, but it's not that fast. Go blasting down from the summit of evergreen mountain and the Status will shine on the super fast sections of that descent.
I definitely prefer the polygon. It's a better climber than the status and I enjoy a nice climb. Status is dope though. I have a D5 so maybe I'm a little biased.
I'd be curious what would happen if you put grippier tires and better pedals on the Polygon. I think those are the first upgrades most people would make if buying that bike
Haha this video is perfect, I have 2 friends that have both those bikes, and I've ridden them both, I will say that the Status is my go to, but I generally prefer descending, and the travel on the D6 just isn't comparable. As for value, the Status is also very good, but the D6 is better for a person just getting into the sport in my opinion. In terms of a fairer comparison, I think Polygon's N9 is the closest to the Status. Both are amazing bikes, but I find that for my riding, the Status it better. If you like different types of riding though, then the D6 might be a better option.
Hey Matt just wondering if u think I should go for the D6, I’ve looked into this bike for months on months and still haven’t decided, do u think I should purchase the D6?
Like you said two different riding experiences. I would prefer the polygon over the status. I like the status but think it’s a poor design with the two different wheel sizes. Reminds me of a Subaru Outback with the small bed on the back lol. Cool concept but doesn’t make sense. Keep up the good videos and honesty 👍🏼
Ok let’s be real how bad was the status to climb with ? It’s way longer and slacked 63HA ( I have a MmmBop HT so it’s the same basic set up ) Amazing downhill a bit of work up hill My Roscoe 7 was easy work uphill but terrifying on tech steep down hill . I’m thinking of getting a status as a second bike . But everyone seems to think it’s a beast on the climbs .
It sucked for me climbing but I think it depends on the rider. It’s definitely worth it once you get to the top though! I think the mullet setup is what made it a little bit harder to climb with in my opinion

The Polygon is definitely a great bike!
my guy is just like me, he don't know what the parts are but he like bikes lol
Let’s get mountain biking in the olympics! Marty for US!
It's already in the Olympics, at least XC is.
good video my friend. Love the info, thanks for sharing👏😎

Bro you should try riding at night to escape the heat and riding at night is magical I have done it once
Is the status 140 only available in mullet or can you put matching 29” wheel set
Ayy Matty!
I never heard of Polygon. Are they reliable compare to Specialized, Cannondale, Giant, Yeti, Santa Cruz and Marin?

If it’s available definitely get it! Great value.

Can you test a Polygon Xquarone there? That's top of the food chain, if you can, do it.
That would definitely be awesome. I’ll try for sure

I like the heads up review, but these bikes are in vastly different categories. It's almost an apples to oranges type comparison.
What about the looks comparison. The frames look the same. I think that's why the Status is a budget Enduro.
Yes nice
You should try a stumpjumper on trail
so you have a problem sticking it in...and have little fingers....for a second thought this was about somethiing else.
