Silent movies are the best! No waffling, no fiddling, no flagging, no annoying loud kudic! Just pure joy! Thank you, very relaxing, informative and easy to follow.
After watch so many of these .I wonder how many guys and gals are thinking crap I should have not went through life not learning how to sew . Nothing like a pandemic to bring us back to a simpler life . Great mask tutorial btw .Thank you stay healthy
Tried this tutorial after finding another one I didn't care for. This one is so simple, and for those asking how they fit.....they fit perfectly. As for the nose bridge, we decided to use a piece up pipe cleaner to fit it over the nose if we want to. I've had many compliments on them, have been asked if I sell them. There are no gaps if you do it right. This is my go to mask pattern! Need to make a minor adjustment to have it fit my 11 year old son.
Midwest Kandi They fitted well. Had to make 6 in a hurry for a underprivileged family. And was impressed with fit.I used strips of T-shirt for tying at the back of the head.. I think that leads to easier adjustment than earloops
Easiest video for sure! Just wish there were some replies to everyone asking about child sizes. Scrolled down loads but no replies. I have modified the pattern by sewing fabric tabs to the mask and threading the elastic through them instead of sewing the elastic directly to the mask. This makes the mask adjustable for all head sizes and avoids the rubber in the elastic being cut by the needle of the sewing machine.
Thank you. Just made four masks following this tutorial. I have slightly adjusted the measurements to fit my family. With the measurements given here, the masks fit my teenage kids but the elastic was way too tight for my husband and me. For adults, I'd say to use up to 20 cm for the elastic bands but I guess it depends on the quality of the band itself. Also, a couple of times I stitched the elastic along the seam by mistake so watch out.
Pretty straightforward -- thank you!. I added wire in the top front (just threaded into seam after I sewed it). Would also recommend using two different fabrics, so you can tell which side of mask is the front (for hygiene purposes). For the filter, I'm using embroidery backing because it's what I happen to have; I've read a couple of articles elsewhere that mention this as a possibility.
I like this easy way to make another mask for the grandchildren. By far, the best video I've watched and believe me, I've watched too many in searching for just the right one. This it it!! Also, I bought fabric for the inside filter. I got 10 yards of OLY fun fabric (made by Fairfield) on Amazon for $13.77. Used prime shipping and received it in a few days. Boom - done!
Pretty + easy design. Only add would be a nose bridge of some kind. I’m using green garden ties that I had. Gives it form. I’ll make this design next. 👍
I roll my tops down a bit more than she does, and then when I go to sew them across the top before folding , I inset the wire.. and sew it in place Easy to adapt the wire.... I add 1/2 inch to the length of the pieces to accommodate the pocket for the wire
You can fold aluminum foil to the desired thickness amd use it for nose piece. I have a video uploaded how to do that. Works great and you can always replace it.
I loved 💜 this mask 😷 loved💜 the fabric and I have made several different types of mask to see which one my family and I liked most. I have seen on many different tutorials that they have stated to make sure the pleats are all facing downwards so the the germs do not collect in them.. but i love 💜 this design . Has anyone else heard 👂this.
I’m an RN, and have posted this. Things that are microscopic can collect in the tiniest of places! You should also try to NOT use pins. When you pierce the fabric, you’re making holes that viruses can pass through.😱 If you do use pins, try to keep them in the seam margins, and not in the main piece of the fabrics. I use binder clips, and sometimes paper clips. Stay healthy, and remember to wash your hands!😁🙋🏻♀️🧵
Tara Martin be thankful you have a 1933 sewing machine! Those are all metal, and they are made to last. I have an old White sewing machine that was my grandmother’s, and it will sew through multiple layers of denim! It is so old, it doesn’t even have a zigzag stitch!😉LOL. But I will never get rid of it! When I think of the ones my mother got rid of that were all metal, I cringe. Yours should always be able to be worked on, and fixed, if necessary. Happy sewing!🙋🏻♀️😁🧵
Simply outstanding. Thanks so much!!!! This one is super easy (if one knows how to sew, which I do) you gave really straightforward instructions and detailed measurements etc. No unnecessary bla bla. 👍👍
Well, excellent to watch and seems so simple with a neat finish , perhaps one could engage themselves with this kind of activities and avoid getting bored in this lock down periods.
Just a little tip or suggestion ,maybe a little bit more description for the beginners(like me) and I found that the elastics are a bit to short but that could be just me . This video is amazing and will be making so many masks for me and the family
It would have been fine, but I was waiting to see what it would look like when you put it on. And how it would fit. Perhaps next time you could include that.
@Caroline: YES, I wish she (?) would have modeled it as looking for a simple but well fitted mask as wish to do some designer ones that I hope to add images to.
Thank you for sharing this video. Up to the point without so many instructions, measurements etc. Please has anybody tried to sewing this mask at a junior size?
I think most people know by now it's not 100% COVID19 protective but it helps me from touching my face for one and I use it over the doctor ones at work for added protection,I'm an essential worker in a grocery store. I was going to do the ones with all the pleats but I'm making them for the people I work with too and this mask is so easy and fast to make I love it!!!
Thank you for this, I have been using this video for the past year, I love the masks, I have made over 150 mask for relatives and friends/neighbours. I am wondering if anyone out there in youtube land has measurements for children using this type of mask
Thank you so much. I copied your style because it's very easy and simple. At the beginners is not easy to make the face masks. But at the end you will use to it. Thanks so much.God bless. 5.6M views Congratulations!!!!
The only thing I recommend is that if you have a zigzag setting on your machine, use it all the way around both pieces. This will prevent fraying in the future
I did followed a video last week and it was3 layers...the folding was a striggle in the sewing machine. This design amd way is much better amd easier to follow. Thank you.
The best thing to use for the insert is Filtrete 1900 or higher Maximum Allergen air filter. Close to same material as used in N95 mask. I made same type of mask.
These are easy enough to make batches and batches of to gift. I'll be using grosgrain ribbon ties instead of elastic, but other than that, I'll follow your tutorial. Thank you!

probably because they missed out a nose bridge, so overall it is no more use than a scarf worn as normal
I love the idea of sewing the strings on FIRST and the sewing the 2 half’s together. Much easier that sewing both at the same time.

Thank you so much. I've made two and are about to make another two. My husband wore one on the bus yesterday and said that it worked well.

My first time trying to sew a mask. I was successful! Thank you for the detailed video.
I love this pattern, best one out of all the styles going around... THANKS
Very good tutorial. One of the best masks I have seen. I have been making them with pleats and it is so hard to sew over them. Thank you.

Don't know how effective facemask are against viruses but I can say it cured my itchy-eyes, runny-nose allergies for sure!
They’re more protective for ppl around you. If you’re an unaware carrier, you’re MUCH less likely to spread this nonsense if you’re wearing a mask 💜
