As someone that has been in the military the last 10 years and have seen countless sailors and marines go through the courses, I completely agree with your assessment on the attitude of the younger ones. It's infuriating to me. Usually the BRC is a humbling experience and by the time they get to the IRC or ARC they have a better attitude towards it and realize that they don't know anything. I know my first course 10 years ago was very humbling but at the same time I went with the right attitude. Thanks for the video!

Most of just do not understand how big and powerful a machine a bike really is.
Good first bike. If you would have bought a 300-600cc, you would have grown out of it in the SAME YEAR, want to trade it in for
a larger CC bike, but still have 2-4 years of motorcycle loan payments to go.

I worked patrol for the Sheriff's Office, 12 years and I've often encountered drivers that don't hear sirens or see flashing lights, at least not right away, so the loud pipes save lives argument isn't valid. Your videos are full of common sense and it's good to know your message is getting out there. Thanks for what you do...

But most do. You always have to Lookout for that one idiot no matter what you do.

My instructor had the same sentiment, just admit you like loud pipes that's why you bought them - don't attempt to rationalize it by saying it saves lives. A lot of recent data has actually shown that is the opposite regarding louder pipes.
When I'm stopped at an intersection I always look in my mirrors to make sure I'm not gonna get rear ended. I make a habit of flashing the brake light to make extra sure that I'm seen.

Same. If several cars are already stopped behind me then I might switch to neutral, but never when I’m sitting at the light by myself.
yeah, and it's best to wait in first gear with clutch pulled in so you can move instantly if necessary.

This channel is pretty great. I’m just getting back into riding after not having operated a bike in over 15 years. I’ve watched multiple video from this channel and am now a subscriber. You really can’t put a price on the quality of information being given away here for free. It’s so nice to come across someone who is not only highly experienced/educated but obviously really truly cares about every single rider being the best trained, best educated, safest rider they can possibly be. Hopefully I can speak for everyone when I say that attitude inspires me to learn. Teaching not only the skills but more importantly the way of thinking necessary to make the most of said skills just makes me want to not only be a better rider but better at life across the board. Many thanks for what you’re doing here. It truly is priceless.

I agree whole heatedly! I have been biking for a lot of my life, and am now 71 years old. And I still learn little tips about getting better in the operation of my bike. When I was young, the old timers said that you should be learning your whole life, or you might as well just die. I now agree with them.
Invest in riding courses makes a lot of sense.
It's the only way to seriously improve your knowledge and skill...that's why I'm going through my 20th course next month.
I have had friends ask me to teach them how to ride. I tell them to take a course. I refuse to teach someone because I was not a skilled enough rider to do that. One friend got mad at me and refused to take a course, as he was buying a 50cc scooter. The idiot ended up in the hospital.
He was riding with a 3/4 helmet, no face shield, because he thought he would look stupid on the scooter. No riding gear. Never really took any time to practice, either. He was riding downtown when a pedestrian stepped out from between vehicles. He doesn't remember what happened after that, just that he woke up in the hospital after having his face bashed in by the fire hydrant he ran into.
Having started on a 50cc scooter, with some of the same mentalities (but a load of driving training and hazard recognition under my belt courtesy of truck and bus driving), and having been in a panic situation, I can almost guarantee he hit the brakes without thinking about letting go of the throttle and lost control. I did the same, but I quickly got over the initial panic and regained control. Where I live, half a day of the training course is JUST how to stop in an emergency. You can actually fail the riding test by not stopping the bike fast enough.
That skill saved my life the first day out on my own bike, within 10 minutes of leaving home, and within two miles of my house. A semi was turning left to go the direction I was going. The driver and I made eye contact, or so I thought, and I thought he was aware of me. I still drove a semi at that time, so I had an idea of vehicle acceleration, driver mentality, etc. This driver was not paying attention, or thought he could get out in front of me, because he started out on his turn and he must have had an empty trailer to get in front of me that fast. I was doing 40mph and suddenly his trailer is at a 45 degree angle right in front of me. Before I could even think of what to do, I was downshifting and braking rapidly. I came to a stop really fast, but not as fast as I would have if I had hit the trailer. Most of the impact would have been focused on my head and chest, with my gut and below swinging rag doll under the trailer before I ended bouncing off and possibly rolling right in front of the tires. I have zero doubt, based on all factors of that near miss, that had I not had the muscle memory for stopping fast, at best I would have been in the ICU for a week with several broken ribs.
I follow the principle of ATGATT. All The Gear, All The Time. Thick abrasion resistant pants, armored riding jacket, high boots that provide ankle support, armored gloves, full face helmet (modular, in my case), ear plugs, safety vest, etc.
I wiped out because I overrode my skill, and it was 100% my fault. Thankfully I didn't involve anyone else in that mistake. I nearly wrecked my bike, and I ended up scared to take curves at speed after that. It's not a mistake I care to repeat. Tumbling through the ditch at high speed watching a telephone pole get larger with every revolution is not a fun experience. Thankfully I didn't wrap myself around the pole, but I stopped just a couple feet before I did. Walked (limped) away with a sprained ankle and a very sore body. Bike was still rideable thanks to the crash protection I invested in. I was alive because my gear took most of the damaged. Wrecked my helmet and tore my jacket over the shoulder armor.
I am skilled enough now to teach, I still won't. And the friend? He was too scared to try riding again, he had wrecked his scooter, and has been blaming the pedestrian for walking out in front of him, and me for not teaching him how to ride. We're not friends anymore, my call. I don't need that crap in my life.
Take a course. Beginner courses are under $200. If you have the money for a motorcycle, you have the money for the course. I plan on taking refresher courses to keep my skills sharp.
This is actually great info. I learned alot at my BRC1 course and have been riding dirtbike for 15 years prior. It doesnt hurt to learn new things, I always do in life as well as motorcycle skills. I have just register for my BRC2 and I'm sure I will learn alot of new things I didnt know I could do.

search google for motorcycle rodeo courses or motorcycle obstacle courses. You can find a bunch of diagrams of courses to layout. You don't need cones just spray paint the ground.
I love the mandatory military classes. I wish they had more advanced courses. What kind of loser complains about getting a day off work to to get better at motorcycles FOR FREE?

Most I knew in the military (to include myself) were excited to have a day off to go to the safety course.

The loud exhaust helps you enjoy the sound of your motor. No mirrors? Wow, I've never tried that one. But the license plate tuck is basically the equivlent of wearing a "Tap-Out" t-shirt. I wore my Tap-Out shirt for about 10 years, and wore it proudly. haha.

When Im not on my bike I get to drive a big red truck with flashing lights, sirens, a loud horn and people still don't know you are right behind them. loud exhaust wont save you. keep up the good work.

I've notice the stereotype riders with loud exhausts, I did it once. Then I went to quiet exhausts and ear plugs for long rides. Way better IMO. This video has great points. I still buy aftermarket exhausts for the weight savings, increased hp, deeper sound, looks, and to differentiate my bike from others.
Mirrors give me elbow views and get in the way lane splitting. Folding barend mirrors FTW! Can see behind myself without having to move anything but my eyes.

I met a rider through a mutual friend who said he's been riding for 15 years and had just gotten a new bike like a week before... I was like cool nice bike, and he said "thanks, yea I'm looking forward to getting a new exhaust soon" (and he was riding in sweatpants)
I was like "sure its gonna be pretty loud, still sounds nice right now though, hey check this armored kevlar compression pants I wear under my jeans, you can wear them under anything and be protected" and we started talking about quality gear and he actually said that he never thought about protecting the lower part of his body because everyone he ever rode with were only concerned about helmet and jacket but now he wants to get appropriate pants and boots and he himself said the exhaust can wait a bit. Havent seen him since but my friend told me he did end up getting some kevlar jeans
I gotta admit it felt really awesome to know some one actually listened to logic and are now going to be that much safer.
To me it showed that unfortunately some people just never got exposed to good information and were misled by their peers who didnt know or didnt care.

I see exhausts as nothing more than something of personal preference aka nothing more than liking the sound or opening avenues to customize the bike further through tuning n such but really you're correct , i don't know what person would actually think it makes em a better rider but ayy , i could argue the whole loud pipes save lives thing but its too inconsistent to know definitely ( hard to test as there is too many variables).
I agree largely with the mirror thing being rather stupid taking off mirrors completely, if i were to do this i'd feel half blind , i wouldn't judge if it was to change to aftermarkets though , some bar ends while i don't think are very fitting to supersport bikes are pretty good allowing clear vision backwards at the expense of some side vision ( my current set up) but you're meant to head check when you do anything anyway as a double check sorta thing , i kinda bypass not knowing what my mates are doing through intercoms ( these things are siiick).
licence plate is a bit how ya goin in the sense its kinda a grey area , wouldn't dare do it because you'll get pulled up and defected in no time unless you're lucky.
as far as improving yourself as a rider , i found time / experience as a very good teacher , nonetheless it was an interesting though more sensible take on the subject.

Best video ever. I am an artisan, I met other artisans that have only 1 years experience repeated 30 times for the 30 years they have been working, no courses ever, no improvement ever. Then I have to repair the mess they made. I started with 1 trade, now I am qualified in two with a ton of auxiliary certificates. In South Africa there are almost no track days and when there is you cannot attend because too many idiot think it's just about speed, they will cut you off. I ride within my skill level which is not as good as yours and over here even parking lots are fenced off so I go to industrial areas to practice. I have 2 mods on my bike, a centre stand and a cigarette lighter fitting.
Loud Bikes Piss People off especially in Quite neighborhoods late at night! I heard a bike the other day doing about 70 in a 35 that was so freakin loud it hurt my head. I swear it was louder than NASCAR. Who could stand such noise when riding?

Much truth spoken here! Loud pipes give you a false sense of security. You may think that drivers are more aware, but in some cases, they work the opposite way. If your pipes are real loud, drivers can hear you and in the process of trying to locate you, their attention to what is important is diminished.

Also there’s a real stigma about “REMOVING” all the factory reflectors on a motorcycle. Even as a kid with a brand new Mongoose or Haro or Dyno GT the first thing we did was remove “all” of the reflectors! Kinda dumb now that I think about it.....
Super dumb really. I remember as a kid I liked the reflectors in my bycicle but some of the other kids thought reflectors were for dummies.
Nowadays in my motorcycle I also see many that dislike reflectors and remove them, but even yesterday riding at night in a busy highway I've notice how effective the back reflector was in adding visibility to the bike I was following for a couple of km. Those under the license plate and the side reflectors are obviously a good idea.

I have bar end mirrors because I can't see past my shoulders and yes i can see fine with them.
I have been a Medic for 32 years here in InSaine-Diego. I've taken care of many downed bikers, their body parts sometimes separately.
I've pronounced several of them dead on scene. This message chaps the Asses of many I'm sure,,, but we need to hear stuff like this from such as you. I know the feedback gets tiresome but many of us are blessed by your advise & opinion, guidance etc...

I have a (Newly acquired) 2012 GS1200 triple black and 2 TW200Yamahas one with a moto trailer in tow. I did AZ BDR on the little bike with trailer. I would like to send you a picture of the rig. but more than that. I'm practicing but need some hands-on coaching time in a local class if possible. I live down here in Bonita off San Miguel Rd. Ive been trailing in parking lots, no cones YET! and thoughtfully riding Banner Grade, S-2, 67 to Dudley's, I am getting better and safer but want to do some of this under the watchfull eye of a coach in a class. I'm so glad you are here with us in InsaneDiego.. ! Ride Well !!

Agree on so much of this. Getting my daughter on a motorcycle. Told a friend and he was "No! Too dangerous." I told him I'd be teaching her to ride like I used to ride. I asked her what the most important safety thing was for a motorcycle. After a couple of good replies I pointed at my head.
Now there is a good reason for a loud bike at times. It can be good for a lower capacity bike to increase power by reducing exhaust restriction. I had a road legal off road race bike back in the day. I'd take out the baffle from the exhaust for off road, but generally put it back in for on road. I like my hearing.
Another reason to avoid being in the middle of a lane is that that is where the oil drips from most other vehicles.

10 years on and never crashed although I lay her down once when I was practicing for the DMV test. I have never said I'm a better rider. I think I still have a lot to learn. That's why I watch these videos.
I'm a dirt bike rider and occasionally street bike rider and I'm ~never known a person who has not crashed and would wonder 'how do you ride a bike and ~never crash or just fall over". It's just not normal :0)
I bought a 2020 DF250RTR Venom Ghost last month, and the design, the look is great. I have no plans of changing it anytime soon. All the components you have mentioned in this video are just fine the way they are on my bike. FYI everyone: MotoJitsu's videos are very helpful in making you a better, more aware rider. Believe me, in just one month, I have already used the swerving, and safe stop techniques taught in other MotoJitsu videos. Thanks again, Fast Eddie. :)

As the mom of a 17 YO son, thank you! I learned to ride at 7. Raced. My brother was State champ. My nephew is a national champ. They don’t do this crap. My son’s friends are into all of this. Perhaps your video can teach him that this is lame. Not sure! That prefrontal cortex has yet to mature.

I have been watching your videos for about two weeks now, and the empty parking lot by my bank is now covered in chalk marks and road cones. I'm a no-belt new rider, been riding since February of 2020. I'm very grateful for your videos. I've learned more about riding in the last two weeks than the last 6 months, including the intro class I took.
I've also learned that everybody that ever coaxed me towards one bike or another has been utterly full of it. I plan on practicing and mastering the techniques that you and others have shown in videos like this and taking more classes as soon as I can afford them since all this Covid crap has devastated my finances. Thanks again. (Yeah, I know, I could have picked a newer video to comment on, but this just struck me ass I watching this one.)

The first actual bike mod I got was adjustable levers cause the stock ones didn’t fit my hands very well and caused hand cramps.

My used Sportster came with Vance and Hines slash cut exhaust with open baffles. I spent $160 to add the quiet baffles. I added HD's split vision mirrors. They have convex mirrors on the outside. I can see more lanes. Also, so many people remove the bikes reflectors to look cool. That's super dumb. I added reflector license plate bolts and reflective stickers to my helmet. My helmet is the first thing people see when i pop over a hill. I have a big orange HD jacket with reflective piping and armor. Thanks for the videos. I learn something every time. I think you have me convinced to take a course.
More courses the better...upgrade the software (your skills) not the hardware (your bike).

The reason why people hear ambulances more so than motorcycle exhaust is that an ambulance projects that sound 360° from multiple sources. In addition to the fact that the ambulances tones are specifically designed to be loud and heard not to be loud and sounds good

That and bass is largely non-directional, meaning that even when you do hear it, you can’t tell where it is coming from. Also, motor sounds are exactly what cars are designed to block out (so you don’t hear your own engine while you drive). The same sound insulation is designed to pass more of the frequencies used by emergency vehicle sirens.
the difference between sirens and motorbikes is that we are all (hopefully) conditioned to stop and look for sirens when we hear them. Loud pipes are great for pedestrians with headphones in but that's about it.
A horn can do the same for pedestrians.

They are decibel limits, and you can't modify the exhaust to be louder than those. (80 dB, 50' away from the centerline of travel)
wow, simply awesome vid! i must admit i was or am one of those guys that did more talking than thinking... i never considered myself a great or even a good rider, but more so a lucky one. i have been riding a many years but i know what i can comfortably do and what i cant (had many bad habits that i had to break myself of). i had taken a riding course on Camp Pendleton many years ago... i truthfully thought that was enough for me...now after watching and watching again a few of your videos, i have been looking for course i can take to improve both my riding skill and my knowledge! thank you for that! i really do have to invest in some quality riding gear (i am that Neanderthal in jeans and such)

Hi, I’m a 57 year old born again rider in the UK after nearly 20 years out of the saddle. Recently purchased a Honda rebel cmx1100, I have been watching lots of your videos and I was surprised at how much I had forgotten. Your tutorials are very clear and precise and thankfully not long winded.
I’ll admit, I was looking at a louder exhaust, you’ve now convinced me otherwise to spend the money on more safety gear (tho only need trousers now) and taking advanced lessons.

When I took the BRC I wore a heavy armored riding jacket. On the hottest day in August. The other students thought it was overkill until I low-sided. After that it was all "good thing you were wearing that jacket" :-)
Also, my motorcycle is electric. If I want louder pipes I'd have to install a stereo...

@@MotoJitsu bare minimum is summer gloves, mesh jacket, kevlar jeans, shortie boots, and helmet. Anything less, even in high summer, is crazy.
I wear a heavy leather coat all year round, even in our hot Australian summers.
I believe the protection I get from it is like a lucky charm, it's the times you don't wear one are the times you are likely to come adrift.
I haven't had a problem for years.
Actually last month when I came home, my wife commented that she heard me coming. How I asked? My bike has the stock muffler and is actually pretty quiet. Your music, she answered. Now I turn my stereo off a couple of blocks away.

Referring to your point about loud pipes saves lives, I was driving my car and wasn't aware of a street cruiser in my blind spot other than the sound of his loud (I'm assuming screaming eagles exhaust) so in some rare cases I believe this point can have some legitimacy. In that particular case, I didn't see him but I heard a loud bike near me so I changed my pace and then the motorcycle was revealed. Good thing I heard him because I was planning on changing into that lane and had already did a head check. I think the most important thing is for everyone to not to be in a rush. So that you can take in your environment around you in greater greator detail. And limit the amount of distractions. If you're paying attention you can usually hear a loud bike coming way before you see them. So I get what you are saying but I also get the why of the argument. Proper exhaust can also give your bike performance gains. So.. I'm thinkin a complete system is in order.
I don't know anyone who can out-perform their stock bike, let alone what mods they add on to it..just like so many people say "it's for weight savings"...well going for a jog once in a while is cheaper.
This is a great video. I’m the first to admit I love the sound of aftermarket exhaust. That being said, I’m in no debate on wether it’s going to save me. I’m a full gear rider every time. However I have never took additional classes to improve my riding skills. Yes, I can say I never had an accident, which I know isn’t because I’m a a fantastic rider. Possibly because I don’t ride above my skill level, and am very aware of my surroundings. I think one of the biggest problems with all these things you have mentioned is the cool factor. When I see a rider with shorts, t shirt, and half half helmet, I pretty much write that person off as an idiot, and you couldn’t get me to ride with that person. Because if that person is going to make a stupid decision like that, their going to make more. The 3 reasons I see bikers go down is speed, riding above their skill set, and not paying attention. I currently have a 2019 a Triumph Speed Triiple RS, along with 2001 Sprint. The Speed has amazing suspension, definitely has helped me in the twisties. Now I need to break open the wallet for some classes. I have a friend that teaches “Tide Like A Cop”, or I can take a class on track lessons to Improve my higher speed riding skills. If there's anything I've learned in my short 38yrs on this planet is that mocking anyone is the most effective way to get your point across. It's always always worked, every single time since the beginning of us.
I love the sound of my exhaust, it makes the bike virtually a different bike and a lot more fun. It does make people take note and I use it all the time when filtering, it has also saved my life on two occasions when they were about to pull out in one case and about to move over into my lane and both times my exhaust made them look (I could actually see them looking for the sound).
The exhaust sound should not be relied on by itself, courses are good, high vis and lights etc. and the exhaust should be just another useful tool in your toolbox. Please don't make videos telling people to not use one of the very useful safety tools.

be glad to be watched while riding. But don´t tell a loud pipe would be a live saver. Riding for more than 50 years now, working in workshops, loud pipes are annoying.
Training is required, necessary and needs to have proficiency maintained! Proficiency is the key to unlocking new potential imo. Having the humility to learn something new will open up all areas of a better life!

Only criticism I would give is regarding the absolutist stance of "loud exhaust is never what saves you".
The safety effect of a loud exhaust is so miniscule and shouldn't be relied on whatsoever as a safety measure.
However, I've almost merged (in my pickup truck) into a motorcycle and caught my mistake in time due to hearing him rev.
Just throwing it out there that everything is "less vs more" rather than "always vs never".

I just bought a 2022 Hayabusa and as many others would, I watched many related TH-cam videos. Your comment about tilting the licence plate made me laugh. I literally watched a video of a guy with his gen 3 Busa titeled licence ‘plate eliminator’ for 10$ I think. Anyway this guy was the exact rider you were referring to. He unbolted the oem licence plate holder and cut the plate light with pliers then cut the metal bracket with a grinder. Bolted the shortened bracket on and bent it backwards so the licence plate tilted under the bike. I see this so often. I’ve even seen licence plate brackets fitted to a hinge and hooked up to a cable so they can flip the plate up under the rear when riding through speed traps. Priceless..

I tried it on my supermoto, my wife laughed at me bc even she said I couldn't see shit. I took one ride and put my stock mirrors back on. silly move but they were super cheap and now on my mntn bike lol :) no problem there.

Thanks for convincing me to not change my exhaust. I was debating doing it for a year now but just didn't want to have the stock exhaust taking up space in the garage. Trade in value going down. And pissing off the neighbors, etc. So I have big ugly stock exhaust, but it is quite. I did change the mirrors though, bar end high quality glass by CRG. they work great. and don't enlarge the footprint at all as i mounted them inside of the vibration damper. better view than the stock mirrors. I did the tail end clean up too, the lights all work in the back, the plate totally in view and illuminated. Thanks.
So I owned some big and powerful bikes a few years ago. Now I prefer bikes with good handling to go arround the corners in the south of bavaria. I bought a Yamaha MT07, upgraded suspension, tires and brakes. Nice vid!👍🏻

My neighbor Randy is an old-head, retired, bunch of money. He has a literal museum of bikes. He told me, "Aftermarket exhausts are for the poors." That hit me hard. He's right. Its a sign that says "I had $500, once!".

Another dose of good sense from Fast Eddy. The motorcycle community needs you Eddy; I am sure your work saves more than a few bikers from injury and death.
Can I suggest a potentially life-saving mod to one's bike that is also not very expensive; replace that feeble horn that most bikes are fitted with a powerful pair of tuned horns. I ride in traffic with my right hand fingers on the brake lever and my left hand thumb on the horn button. I only use the horn to avoid developing crash situations; for example the driver in the lane next to you starts to change lane into you without checking their mirror; or the car at the stop sign doesn't see you coming and starts to pull out into your path, or a pedestrian steps off the sidewalk and starts to cross the road in front of you. A really loud AND EARLY blast on the horn nearly always stops these people from continuing with their mistakes. Ride Safe!
Totally agree with all you said, one other thing, the amount of riders I meet that don't use ear plugs ! Stupidity. What's your opinion?
I use them all the time when on the roads...to block the wind.
Tried earplugs designed for motorcycling. They have excellent reviews. I don't feel safe with them, when waiting in a lane I don't hear for example incoming vehicles. I notice them just when they pass etc etc. I would use them on the Autobahn, where i would have continous speed over 130 kph - only there.
I don’t feel safe with ear plugs and they started to hurt my ears after half a day of riding.
I can hear emergency vehicles just fine, but in cities I can’t hear much going on, I feel rather disconnected from everything going on around me which is a horrible feeling

It’s not that people don’t hear you, it’s they don’t see you. Ryan F9 has a great video on why that is. As you say, loud pipes only serve to reinforce negative stereotypes about motorcycle riders. Save your money, or put it into better gear, professional instruction, new tires, just about anything is better than “loud pipes”.

MotoJitsu I normally ride a sportster built up to drag spec’s., so I have a great time beating on street bikes.
I had the opportunity to ride a ninja 750rr today and WOW 2 completely different beasts! My Harley will throw you off the seat and keep the front tire floating as the street bikes you really got to get the RPMS up.
The weight is a incredible difference!
Body position on a street bike seems like you are going head first into what ever you hit!
All in all I can dig both equally for what they are

I'm a 67-year-old "junior" motor rider (about 9 months ago I got my driver's license) in the Netherlands. Got a nice sport touring bike and now I'm starting to get some experience in driving my bike. This is not something you are born into. Only practice and classes will give you handles to be a better saver rider, nothing else.
Loud exhaust pipes are the dumbest investment you can make. It gives the bike community overall a very bad name and should be forbidden or very high tickets. Only then they maybe will learn to put their money in their own safety.
They still think that because of the loud noise they go vaster. whit less noise you still can ride saver when you pay attention to your surroundings and other drivers. Better to keep your bike as it came from the factory and indeed put that loud exhaust pipes money in driving classes and/or gear for your protection. Your video on this subject was right to the point and helps drivers to get better. TOP!.

I have a stock exhaust on my GSX-S1000 and i ride with full gear ALL the time. However,i am starting to realise i am doing everything else wrong. I got my licence 3 yrs ago at the age of 45 to hang out with my friends. My friends are highly skilled riders with backgrounds in road racing etc. I always get caught up in KEEPING UP. And i admit that there is a culture of teasing if you don`t. I was altso more confident on my 20 yr old VFR800 with 105bhp than i am on my 150 bhp GSX-S1000. I will adress these issues next summer as the 2021 season is almost over here in Norway. It`s been an eyeopener...

It's an excellent day here in the free world, you wait there, I'm going for a ride.
In my experience with police officers (my Dad was NYPD, many of my friends' dads were police officers, and I've been stopped about 18 times over the last 30+ years), many of them are willing to cut people a certain amount of slack, but that only goes so far.
The best way to stay out of trouble is NOT to go looking for it in the first place!
I recently had a full yoshi system added to my bike and a ecu flash and the bike now breathes better , runs smoother, more responsive and increased my fuel economy. So IMO I think there is some great benefits. But I do get what you are talking about. Great channel aswell mate thanks.

Well said. Your safety gear is between your ears, not on your back or on the bike. I wear all the gear but acknowledge that it is harm reduction only, should the worst happen. Have the right clothing and the right equipment on your bike but don't go into riding with the idea that this stuff will keep you safe.

When I was 18 I wanted to put rim's and tires on my car. I'll never forget what my dad said, " are you smarter than the engineers at Honda, cause everything on your car has a purpose. Leave it alone"

But the right sized rims and better tyres will make you car safer... So this is a poor example lol. Most car manufacturers pick skinny tyres, with shitty rubber because it is more fuel efficient and costs less to make. Not because it's safer. I drive with touring tyres on my car and it has WAYYYY more traction.
@Jack Dicer... Hit the nail on the head about tires. Also, MC exhausts are engineered to meet emissions standards, so as long as you don't live in Cali, the faster you can get the air in/out, the better your motor runs.
Where I'm from, you can only learn how to ride bikes at a driving school first. And if you're a beginner, you can only ride up to 200cc and once you're a licensed rider, you have to ride for a year before going through another riding course to ride bikes between 201-400cc.. Then ride for another year, and then go through a course to ride bikes >400c. I'm currently learning the first one. They're really strict on us but I'm glad. Your videos and tips have helped me gain confidence and better low speed control. Thanks a bunch!

I'm curious what you think about my reason for getting a louder exhaust. I love the sounds really, I mean I even love the screaming straight pipes but it does depend on what engine is scream lol.
Here in Canada the police don't seem to care much about loud exhausts don't know anyone that has gotten a ticket. But is it fair enough that if you really love just the sound of an exhaust that it might be worth it? I think that's the only justifiable way get one.
I will say I do agree that all the other claims are rediculous, but i have an '08 SV650 with a yoshi pipe and I love the sound!
