RUNNING OF THE 127TH GRAND NATIONAL - COLOUR

(8 Apr 1971) The 1971 Grand National and a big field of 38 gather to do battle in the toughest test for horses and jockeys ever devised. Four miles, 856 yards and 30 gruelling jumps. Movietone follows the demanding race from the rails capturing the full drama and spectacle in colour. Over the last fence and a tight bunch of five beat it out for the finish and there's only a half a neck between the first two as they cross the line. It was the closest and most exciting climax to the great race since the war years!
