Looks good. Although we use SCCM, we use WDS for other system installs. The guy who maintained our images left, so I have to brush up on how to do it.
why do you use SCCM and WDS?? but it is good to know for youself how to do it..
Hi, after doing sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown , i still do not see any drive from the volume to capture part. Any ideas?

@MSFT Webcast : My drive doesn't appear in the drop down menu. Do you need to put a driver in the server for it to see the hard drive of the machine?

Your whole series is AMAZING. but what we do if we had to save the golden image to the client's hard drive partition
Start the video again at time stamp 5:49. Click on Browse --> Click on This PC --> Scroll downward and select the partition on which you want to save the image.
@@MSFTWebCast i did all that but i had a problem saving to the server, so i saved the capture image to a partition on the client.
i ended up continuing the windows installation and copying the file manually to the server. i was just unsure if continuing the installation was correct

I think the issue is maybe with capture.wim file. Try to add fresh boot.wim image and again create capture image from the fresh boot.wim image. And try again to capture the golden image.

I have troubles with Microsoft Store, so i can't use SYSPREP before delete all apps in the store. But i really need those apps; i'm using WDS in Windows Server 2019. Thanks!
Are all versions of Windows compatible with this, or are there versions of Windows that cannot be capture imaged?
Hello Madam. it was really fruitful video for system administrators.
this captured image ".wim" has been created for "MBR" partition. if you have any idea about to create .wim file for " GPT " partition then kindly give some Tips to create .wim file for GPT partition.

The .wim file will work for both MBR and GPT.

I'm a little bit confused. Why do we create windows capture.wim file on server? Let say i have a windows 10 and i run sysprep and create a copy of that windows. Then i add it to my WDS. Will not it work? By the way i did all steps from first and second vidoe unfortunatelly getting error. Even boot.wim which i created with MDT gives an error.

Hi, I know this video is a bit older but are there any risks when creating a new capture image on the C drive? Our WDS box only has a C drive and no other partitions.
Yes, you can.
I have a problem, i did the image capture but in the part 7:26 it stays in 0% uploading image any suggestion?
with the captured image, is it going to install that version of windows with the apps we installed and also the account that was used? or do we still have to provide account details and later join it to the domain?
Yes, it will install the same version of windows with the all apps. This is stand-alone image, so you have to manually join windows to the domain but you can use MDT with deployment to auto join windows to the Domain.
After you complete the capture, does the second boot image remain in the boot image folder? For example, from that point forward will any client that attempts a reimage see two boot options when booting to the wds server?
Yes those two boot images will be there but once you finished the capturing process, you can remove or disable the capture boot image to avoid the confusion.

if we are captuing an image that means we want to save effort of personalizing the windows but when we do sysprep we will do everyhting from the start Just like installing new computer whtout using WDS

Sysprep reset ONLY the Machine name, Ip idress, Domain And Remove ALL drivers. so u can use the image on several hardware vendors.

How long does it take to capture the image. Followed all the steps looks like it is getting stuck on 3%
is it possoble to make iso With every thing i need:
1. i Want to apply my own wallpaper in iso, after install it should be applied
2. I want to change settings on "Settings " app like personalization and task bar and other settings, an theesesettings Should be saved after installation

6:46 at that point i'm trying to upload to the server from a VM on which i installed a windows (the VM had a vmxnet3 network card) but i got an error message saying the server can't be reached, tried with the dns name and the ip address, no luck. Any idea ?
Make sure you type the correct detail about the WDS server. Like your client should be able to resolve the ip from the given fqdn. You can also store the image locally and then copy the image later on your WDS server.

I plan to build a basic image. Then adding Chrome and doing window, bios updated. Can I use this basic customize image to deploy to different hardware? For example, Dell on HP etc..etc?
Yes to all except the bios. For one bios is specific to the motherboard model so it wouldn't work across different hardware and on top of that, this image capture cannot capture the state of your bios. Only your operating system.
Hello , i have got error when trying to connect my wds when capturing the image !! specific error is specified logon session does not exist it may already have been terminated. any solution or help what to search ?
Try to login using domainname\username (e.g. mylab\administrator). Otherwise might be issue with any group policy settings related to authentication on domain controller.
Hi, how we can set custom hostname using wds. Like I have already asset management with predefined asset tag and running in mssql. Is anyway to get that asset tag while deploying wds image

After capture image
After i sysprep and name the image, when it gets to capturing image it wont go past 1% complete.
Try to store the image on local computer.

For some reason after i select the capture image @ 5:00 its not showing any drives to capture. Not sure what im doing wrong made sure bitlocker was uninstalled any assistance is greatly appreciated.
I think may be SATA hard disk drivers are causing this issue. If that is the problem than you need to add driver to the boot image and start the image capturing process using updated (with driver) boot image.
One more thing hit Shift + F10 to open command prompt and use diskpart command to get the list of all volumes. If you can see the volumes from your hard disk then SATA driver is not causing the issue.

@@MSFTWebCast I am having the same issue. I used diskpart command to verify that PC can recognize the HDD and the PC I am trying to capture can recognize. Can you please give me advice on how I can proceed from here?

In WDS Directory to capture I only see volume C: and not the volume just for WDS. Any idea how come?
