    I’m going to be watching this and the macaw a few times, I’ve mounted my velour on a board ! Ready to start the otters for my daughter and her fiancé. I’m so lucky I have unison pastels and caran d’ache pastel pencil, also carbothello and FC Pitt, although I find them a bit on the hard side. I must admit I love all all things caran dache their coloured pencils and waterco,our pencils too. I shall take it slowly and steadily, with light layers for the base coat underpainting, this is a bit nerve wracking but it will be so good if I can pull it off

    Love this Lemur. Beautiful work. I looked at unison pastels a while ago but they are next level expensive. I’m thinking pan pastels might work as well. If I get good enough then they could be something I’d look at in the future.

      Hi there Korrina, thank you for taking the time to watch my videos and leave comments for me - it really is appreciated ☺️ Your pastel choice will mainly depend on the surface you want to use. If you're going to use velour then I'd choose Unison, but if you're going to use Pastelmat etc then I'd choose Pan Pastels. I hope this helps with your future purchase decisions. Stay safe & stay creative xXx

I hope youll come up with more velour tips! it will be highly appreciated!

      @kerrynewell-wildlifeartist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, thank you for watching my video - truly appreciated 😊 Unison soft pastels can be bought as ‘open stock’ so you could just purchase one white, it really would be worth the price. Rembrandt would be another soft pastel brand I’d recommend. As for a white pastel pencil - the most soft and opaque pencil I’ve found is by Caran d’Ache (again these are available open stock if you want to only purchase certain colours) Hope this helps. Stay safe and stay creative xXx

All you have to do, to my understanding, is have a Patreon channel, add videos while you teach doing them and post. You have to set up your prices and have videos available like this one. People sign up and money is deducted monthly. Most people who have a Patreon channel set up a only members facebook page and you can answer questions and keep your followers up to date. @kerrynewell-wildlifeartist  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching my video and for taking the time to leave a comment, truly appreciated. In answer to your question - I've found that I can create adequate detailing on both velour and pastelmat. However more layers can be applied to velour so achieving more depth to a painting can be achieved a little easier in my opinion. Having said that I've found I love both so will be switching between the two from now onwards. I'm just filming my next video of a leopard in pastel on Pastelmat and hope to release this by the end of next week. Bye for now xXx

    • @kerrynewell-wildlifeartist
      @kerrynewell-wildlifeartist  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there Julie, I'm glad to see that you've tried Velour paper with your pastels. With regarding to the falloff - make sure that any initial base coats are thoroughly worked into the tooth of the paper. Additional coats will then have more of the tooth to adhere to. Working top layers in pencil, apply slightly more pressure thus ensuring that all layers are pushed into the tooth and not left simply laying on the surface of the paper. I hope this helps xXx

    • @kerrynewell-wildlifeartist
      @kerrynewell-wildlifeartist  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there Mara, sorry to hear that your pastel pencil isn't applying as it should. My suggestions, without personally seeing your work, would be to make sure that the soft pastel base coat has been applied evenly and that you have blended it well into the tooth of the velour paper. Secondly make sure that you are using a pastel pencil of the softer variety e.g. Caran d'Ache, Derwent, Carbothello or Daler Rowney. Let me know how you get on :-) xXx
