*A quick update to people trying to practice the bomb parry try to get in a fight and lock onto a target before parrying. Otherwise you'll go into "Pick up bomb" animation instead of parrying which will always fail!

Regardless of whether you make this stuff on the regular, this was a really great video. Super informative and well put together. In 150hrs+ I'd not known of any of them.
There is so much in this game and so many different ways to do things. I think I was over 100 hours in when I found out if you drop flint with a wood pile and hit it with a sword it would start the fire, lol. Before that I would use either a flame weapon or fire arrow, haha.

i seriously like how nintendo just gives you freedom to express yourself in combat, gives you no rule book to follow and allow you go go crazy with tackling enemies. because of this video you help me realize this, since i always play games by the rules.

@LeCoolFace Sadly not crossovers,the developers moved thier ship from sega to nintendo permenantly that's why most new sonic titles play save while nintendo is ambitious.To make matters worse,sega is still shown to be one of the best selling companies despite sonic being stuck in mediocority for long,further proving sega doesn't give sonic team any resources to work with.Which is further worse,sega America was the one to handle sonic after sega became cross platform,meaning instead of 2 branches of 1 company working on games 1/2 of a branch (only sonic team)is working on newer titles with foreign developers who have no experience.
@LeCoolFace true,most good sonic developers moved from sega after they promised to fix sonic,leaving sega with no chance to hire fans or new people,fans made mania which was successful,then forces that had 2 people who never played sonic to make it's level design.And of course new writers that sucked the life out of the characters.Luckily the new IDW comic is actually collaborating with a fan to continue the storyline after the metal virus.
I discovered the pepper updraft by accident. I was trying to quickly roast some for some emergency health and they started flying away. I died, but it was very helpful later

The fact that these strategies are just doable in this game just reaffirms my belief that BotW might be the best game ever made.
I wouldn't go that far. While an excellent game, it has many improvements that could be made.
Matthewmatosis' BotW video tackles some of them. Still, the combat mechanics of this game are the best of all Zelda.
Play devil may cry 5 if you want real deep, complex combat

@@randsome2374 There are issues with framerate to this day. Dont get me wrong, I love the game, thats why I have been replaying it again over the last few weeks. But those problems do exist, and I get tired of the endless circlejerk over botw

I found a neat combo trick that involves freeze and electric weapons. If you hit a frozen enemy with an electric attack, it will create a shock wave as though the enemy is wet, dealing more damage and shocking other nearby enemies.
AdvisorOfDark Gaming That’s because the enemy is considered “drenched”. I’m pretty sure i heard about this quite a while ago too...
Thats because the game counts that as wet, since he's frozen(so he kinda is from ice then which is the solid form of water).
Also freezing and enemy and unfreezing them does lots of damage, maybe it adds onto that.
If you want to take it further, stasis the enemy while you’re on a high point. Then go into Bullet time and shoot shock arrows. The stasis keeps the enemy from breaking out of the ice.

Quicksilver Crouch canceling works on parry too but maybe too dangerous for the hardware. Recently cameback to BotW cause of the online service costing a fee. I will eventually succumb to it but for now I cant really commit. haha.

I know you said that you don't want to do another video but maybe consider making another guide to stasis launching/traveling. We really need an indepth guide for all those awesome stasis shenanigans you can do in this game so more people can learn about them and having a blast traveling around.

Damn, this kind of video just makes it each time more obvious : my gaming levels are so poor ! Just fought my first Lynel (the easiest one) and I thought it was super hard. I didn’t even understood what you do with these bombs so that they don’t blow yourself up. I’lol need to play a thousand hours to do half of this !

That moment when you've been playing a game for over 8 months and still finding stuff you didn't know (e.g during the Isolated Plateau, the old man is present on the very peak of Mount hylia).
The funniest thing about the BotW were the people dogging on the combat in this game compared to past games. They made it sound like the past Zelda's had combat on par with Platinum Games. This game is a lot closer to Stylish Action games than the past games. Great video. Had no idea that this would've been a thing in this game, and I liked the combat just fine since it was a break from the Bayo and DMC games I usually play.

I simply don't have the reflexes or thought speed to do this stuff, and feel a lot of it would break the immersion, but it was worth watching this video for the sneakstrike chain shenanigans.
I love how all of these are simple, dont require any super complex execution , and can all be used in a practical situation during normal gameplay and also help a lot if you just want to do cool looking stuff.
Gotta work on my parry before beeing able to do parry cancels :/
Lemme give you some tips :
-train with weak guardians/ennemies(the one you need to parry more)
-while training with the ennemy you want to parry make sure to have the Daruk sheild on in case you miss
-when ennemy is starting to attack make sure you are chilled and ready at all times do not stress but don’t be too full of yourself just think you can make it but don’t forget to concentrate really well
Guardian section :
Guardian parrying tips :
-don’t stand too close/too far from the guardian
-make sure there is place to not get burned
-make sure there is place to parry the laser and for the laser to come to you
-if you get surrounded just escape
Guardian health :
Normal : 500
Full rotating+standing : 1000(i think)
Walking : 1500
Drone(rotating) : 1500
Vah-rudania drones :(forgot)
Training shrine guardian : 12

Guardian scout tier I: 20 health (I think I may be wrong)
Guardian scout tier II: 300 health
Decayed guardians and drones: 500 health
Stalkers, skywatchers, turrets, and guardian scout tier III: 1500 health
Guardian scout tier IV: 3000 health
The jump cancel can really boost momentum when you’re locked onto an enemy and want to get closer.

You not only gave easy to understand detailed instructions on how to perform these techniques, but you also displayed the buttons on the screen to help us better understand the timing and how to properly perform these actions. Your tone was calm and not overly excited like most youtubers, which was refreshing. A+ on this video.

Mechanics like this makes me love these types of games even more, seriously! MGS3 had a whole bunch of fun things you could do that weren't very obvious too and it just adds so much depth to gameplay.
I love these tips, and I’ve never seen anyone talk about or use them before! It’s just a shame that in BOTW any enemy can be defeated with just flurry rushes, and that Master Mode only gives them more health, regeneration and more power, without really changing the game. I would LOVE if there was like a PVP arena or something where these tips would be really handy!

defensively jump canceling an attack right before you get hit has a very cool possibility. if you are still in the air as you get hit (like rin was) i'm 99% sure it's setup for an SBR (shield block reset) which gives you enough height for a TCR (thunder clap rush). this is because the blocking of the attack serves as the mark for the synthesized mark and chase to pull off a TCR.
edit: when your sheild gets hit unequip then quickly re equip your sword
I feel like once you're this good it gets boring. I'm constantly looking for a worthy for in botw but find it far too easy to beat any enemy. I haven't died in the game in what seems like a very long time and while that sounds cool I need a friggin challenge
GreenHouseEffect you can also handicap yourself while playing too
Even in master mode the difficulty curve resettles about 1/3 into the game. The trick to keep the game challenging is to not hoard every item and weapon and to not exploit cooking. They definitely should have put some small restriction on cooking because hearty foods are overpowered and they made it too easy to get the elemental gear so using elemental protection food is useless after the great plateau. Despite this, I find it fun enough just running around in the game, and in master mode, some Gold Lynels can still one shot you even with max defense.
Master mode is just numbers. The hero's trial's tho are a nice challange testing your combat knowledge

How do you parry without link trying to pick up the bomb?
I wrote a tip in the description, try to lock onto an enemy first before trying that. Or another way is to step away from the bomb away from "pick up" range.

I like Daruk’s rush and I love doing skews (although I rarely get it right). Also, parry cancelling and jump cancelling are key to fast attacks.

This is why Tears will never be greater than Breath. They really should have left his bomb powers alone. People are talking about how there are so much more ways to deal with enemies but I disagree that without SBR and TCR the combat is no longer considered advanced.

Such a great guy! I consider myself a great botw player, I have hunted down every Lynel on the map and conquered them, now; I can be even more efficient at this.
Great video! I keep watching it over and over. I'm having a really difficult time with these - you make it look so easy! I've got beating guardians with the shield down but they're stationary for the most part. I'm practicing these moves now and getting nowhere fast but I want to better my direct combat! And thanks for making this a true instructional and not some typical macho video with the 'duuuude' action voice! All of us players aren't 14 year old boys! 😁

You're an amazing guy, I've seen so many "advanced" videos with basic techniques that pretty much every player knows, yet you gave content I didn't think of and may be very helpful, not only that, you actually encouraged your viewers to not subscribe, something I haven't ever seen, which is far unlike greedy youtubers that just want more revenue and always plead that you like an subscribe. I really respect this and hope you succeed further in youtube.
I know a bit about this sort of stuff, but I never realized that you could cancel a parry that is so useful. The more you learn in this game, like the tricks and tips, you realize the game is actually pretty easy.

enemies who are in hit-animation-ragdoll, cannot "hear" you until the knock down animation is complete. feel free to move at whatever speed you want around the enemy before they finish getting up :D
Also for anyone, it is possible to stunlock any normal enemy by swinging a large weapon and waiting a bit for the animation of the first swing to end. This allows you to immediately start another swing but the two strike "combo" resets, meaning you immediately swing again.
