I remember the older generation talking about significant passings during my youth. They would mention, "Did you hear that Groucho Marx or someone has passed away?" Not you and your friends who would have no self-esteem if it wasn’t for Canadian beer and cigarettes.
When I first got into SNL and then SCTV Martin Short wasn’t a part of either show, but he grew up around the block from me on Whitton Road. He would come over to the house. I knew nothing about him being a comedian until SCTV.

Andrea Martin played Linda Lavin, Eugene Levy played Lorne Greene, John Candy played Merl Olson, and Martin Short played Jamie Farr. The whole time Joe keeps telling everyone just how lucky he is to be there, Martin has no sense of volume control (or singing ability), Greene wants to recite a dirty act, Olson asks everyone for acting advice before slugging Farr during rehearsal for calling slow. It's just classic

I had no idea of his passing, having been in my early teens when SCTV was in its prime, I adore them all. Count Floyd and Guy Cabrioro will live in my heart.

Joe wanted to add Jim Carrey to the SCTV cast for the final season but there was no budget for that. Jim's career woulda blow'd up sooner and blow'd up real good.
