  • I have bought an offroad modified Toyota Hilux Vigo and I'm eager to do a quick walk-around review of this 4x4 and share my plans for the channel and everything with you.
    Before we dive into all that, I discuss why I have chosen a pickup truck and a Toyota Hilux in particular - this model and this brand. It pretty much boils down to overlanding versus offroading - but more on that in the video.
    Then we take a closer look into the vehicle, including the bullbar, winch, suspension lift, tires, and all the other offroad modifications.
    Jump to a specific section of the video:
    00:00 - Introduction & Eye Candy
    00:36 - Why The Change? Overlanding vs Offroading
    02:29 - Why a Pickup Truck for Overlanding?
    03:58 - Why a Toyota Hilux in Particular?
    05:08 - Walk-Around Overview
    06:00 - Bullbar, Winch, Lights, Bash Plates
    06:40 - Suspension Lift & Tires
    07:35 - Disc Brake Conversion & Rear
    08:22 - Outro & Future Plans

    Yep If I cant save my Landcruiser from rust I will try and get exactly this hilux. gonna mod it for overlanding. Winch, snorch, bumper, lights, shocks, springs, rubber.

    • @The4x4Lab
      @The4x4Lab  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wouldn't you prefer a new Landcruiser to replace the old one? 🤔

    • @DanielTejnicky
      @DanielTejnicky ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@The4x4Lab Yeah, but the price range is bit too wild for me. Even this old 100 from year 1999 cost me arm and a leg, sort to say. If I buy newer, lets say 2011 year it will cost me more than hilux and it will stay more expensive to maintain. + Hilux has the truckbed xD. LC100 is glorious car tho - I love it. I have all the gear on it. SIGH. it will be terrible loss. (Rotten frame and silentblocks on the body - bad purchase)

    • @The4x4Lab
      @The4x4Lab  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DanielTejnicky I was also considering a LC but couldn't justify the expense and ended with a Hilux :)

      @DanielTejnicky ปีที่แล้ว

      @@The4x4Lab IKR. Landcruisers are PITA to maintain - complex vehicles and the parts are expensive - while Hilux(es) are suppose to be the "work truck for the people" Bit simpler, while still relayable and rugged. Time will tell. Best of luck with your overlanding rig. Maybe I will visit Romania one day, with mine - I heard great things about the landscape and overlanding trails there!

    Awesome rig! Really looking forward for the upcoming upgrades. 🙌🏽
    Are there any rules / restrictions you need to follow when building a 4x4 in Bulgaria? Is there any technical institution / agency which needs to sign off the technical modifications in order for you to drive the car legaly on the road? In Germany for example I believe it's a nightmare to get permission to mount such a front pumper and get it signed off by TÜV (Germany's institution which declare cars as "roadsafe") in order to drive it legally on public roads.

    • @The4x4Lab
      @The4x4Lab  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is another ARB steel front bumper that looks very similar and actually has a TUV certificate. Not sure what the name of the model was but you can ask the local dealer. :)
      To answer your question - no, there is no institution here that can sign off the mods. That's unfortunate because that legal gray area makes it easy for cops to ask for bribes if they are not in the mood. Because your vehicle is not illegal but it also isn't officially legal... I would prefer to know my rights and stay within the law. Not possible in Eastern Europe... Europe in general is not good for Offroad - it's either illegal or not clear, depending on the country.

    Good choice for puck-up truck 👌

      Are you referring to mud terrain tires instead of the current all-terrain ones?
      I definitely think AT is better for long expeditions. 😉

    Честито! Машината е хубава. Но си мисля, че 4Runner или LandCruiser 120 ще са по-удобни за дълъг път. Пикапът е товарен кон. Отзад е на ресьори и празен вози твърдо. Освен това е по-дълъг.

    • @The4x4Lab
      @The4x4Lab  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Да, прав си, когато е празен както сега е каруца отзад, но това скоро ще се промени. Планирам да има доста килограми постоянно оборудване - в следващите видеа 🙂
