We have been slowly marching through Genesis-Deuteronomy and Ancient Egypt and my kids are learning so much! Their understanding of the Bible so far outpaces mine at their age and even older. We will DEFINITELY be sticking with SCM history.
Thank you for your feedback, so glad that you are enjoying the history and Bible guides offered by SCM.
SCM is amazing!!!!!! I love the living books and Bible. Still giving our children a rich feast but for a family to share in it together. We have a wide spread of children from high school to elementary. I knew I could never keep up with Ambleside and I wanted us to share history together. Every now and then I assign my older children a book to read on the side to enrich their study but the History is so rich itself. We pretty much use all SCM resources for our school. From History, Enrichment like art study, composer, Shakespeare, poetry to Spelling Wisdom and Language, even the Delightful Reading program and Math. It is the loveliest of curriculums. A gem for sure.
Thank you for sharing your kind words and feedback! So glad that this program is working well for your family and allowing you all to learn so much together!
I love this simply because it's History stream is rooted in the Bible!
Thank you for joining us and we agree, this was an important factor in how this curriculum was designed.
Amen! We love SCM history!! ❤️
So glad that you are enjoying this resource!
Simply hearing you share on CM - any topic - is so relaxing. Thank you so much for your calm, cool, and collected, professional presentations. 😌
Thank you for your feedback and kind words!
Excited to start this this year!
We hope that you had an excellent first year!
God bless you! I’ve learned so much from you since starting this homeschooling adventure this year and I have been wanting exactly this kind of experience for History with my kids but no idea how to start since history was never my strong suit. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
You're very welcome! We hope that you are enjoying history studies with your family!
We were gifted Adams SynChronological Chart/Map of History, and it is so neat to see what was going on elsewhere in the world at the time of Biblical events.
Thank you for joining us and sharing a resource that you have enjoyed!
We are beginning with the first book in the 6 year series. I’m so excited!
Welcome to SCM!
Thank you
What if we (as the parent) aren't very strong in history OR Bible knowledge? How much do the streams explicitly guide what is most important to concentrate on, or the connections needing to be made?
Hi, This is an excellent question! One of the beauties of the Charlotte Mason method is that you do not have to be an expert in any area to homeschool your child! We can put our children in touch with the living books that they will learn from and we can learn right alongside them! SCM's history guides are open and go and your students will learn the information from the living books that you will read together as a family or during their individual grade level readings. Part of a Charlotte Mason education is allowing children to make their own connections and form a relationship with the information they are learning through being read to or by reading on their own. Here are some helpful posts that go into more depth on that concept.

Here is a helpful post that outlines how much we can learn right alongside our children as we guide them through a Charlotte Mason education.

This is wonderful. I’m just not sure how to fit in a 6 year rotation. We don’t have time to hit each rotation twice.
Hi there, here is a helpful post on understanding the cycle and how you can use it best for your family: simplycharlottemason.com/blog/using-the-6-year-history-cycle/ You may also find it helpful to connect with our Facebook group if you are on social media so you can see how other families are using our resources and implementing them to use them for their families: facebook.com/groups/simplycm
I wonder how different the twentieth century would have gone if Charlotte’s idea of studying “global neighbors” had caught on. How many atrocities could have been prevented?
Thanks for chiming in with your thoughts on this topic!
Would this curriculum be applicable for Canadians? Thank you
as well is it best to start in Y1?
This is a great question. Canada is mentioned several times in several of our history guides and books. Both volumes of Stories of the Nations and America, Our Stories, as well as A Castle with Many Rooms. There is also a chapter on John Cabot assigned in the Middle Ages guide from Around the World in a Hundred Years. None of them provide a focused history of Canada though but we do have many resources listed in the bookfinder: apps.simplycharlottemason.com We also have a wonderful Facebook group where many Canadians share their experience with our resources as well as tips and connect together: facebook.com/groups/simplycm
We love SCM's history stream though we're Asians.
Thank you for joining us, so glad you are enjoying this history series!
