I've had this same amp for over 12 years. I had this installed in my 97 Maxima, pushing 2 12's in a ported box, then I had it in my Mazda CX-7, 2009 Chevy Impala, 2015 Kia Forte, 2007 Nissan Altima, 2001 Acura TL, 2015 Chevy Cruz, and now it is installed in my 2021 Kia K5 GT. I absolutely love this amplifier and it has never given me any issues over the years! It is still going strong!
I bought 4 of the sx400.2 amplifiers years ago new and im using three in my truck and installed one in my Dads van. All are still working great. So many features. I wish i had the mono amps too.
I've had this Amp since 2006. I ordered the plain KX1200.1 for my 2 12 L7s. I didn't know n e thing about sounds. Except how to hook up wires.so let just say I wasn't meant for the amp. So it took me a good Lil time to figure it out. I don't like the fan it only kicks on when it gets hot. Not like my Phoenix gold titanium 1200.1 2 fans run all day. But this Amp is a beast. Until 1 day low bumpage n look at screen said service now.
On 2 12 L7s it did the job and some. I prolly had 500 hours playtime within a couple months. So I punished and punished and punished this Amp. Also Hifi I ordered a brand new KX1200.1 but received this model instead. Guess from where Hifi sound connection. So I payed 600 for a new Amp. Once my sx went out I called and they said no that was a refurbished Amp and u only had 90 days. I blew up and went crazy crazy
LOVE IT!! I suggested this to big d wiz a couple years ago, so glad you took the time to showcase it. I always wanted this amp but they were pricey. I had 2 kx1200.1's instead, things are absolute beasts. Even had one running at .5 ohms for a good 10 min in the summer before it started smoking LOL
That amp is a beast. I think it's awesome as hell that u can start them. I didn't know these were one ohm stable. I thought it was a 2 ohm amp. Awesome man. Beautiful amp dude. Great video. By far has to be one of my favorite videos u have done just because of the amp itself. Thanks brah.
Beast!! I think it was around the end of 2004, I had the opportunity to buy the 400.2. My buddy had it powering sixteen 6.5 coaxials in his volt wagon beetle. If i find one in good enough shape with end caps, I’d still buy a 2 or 4 channel, these amps were and are still solid!!!
I like that digital control center on the amp. Just wondering if a current up scale amp manufacturer might offer a "info center" app or similar for your smart phone? Many new vehicles offer that feature. Would be cool to get all that info and control on your mobile device. Another strong video Rob. 👍👍
I had this a ml p for a couple years running 2 fosgate t1s was insane everyone thought I had 4 12s nope just 2 built right its amazing how loud your subs can get if you build the reccomended vented enclosure for them
That crazy this amp does almost exactly what the SoundQubed S1-1250 does. I can't imagine what that Kicker goes for, even today. Looks expensive. Thanks for the video HiFi!!!!!!!!!
Hey brother excellent videos , and I appreciate all your hard work, old school bassheads for life and I love kicker amplifiers, but u need a better battery supply I wanted to see it outperform its ratings... I have the kicker kx2500.1, zx2500, I would love to see those on dyno, I don't know why nobody's made a dyno video for them, I think they deserve a series dyno video, kicker kx2500.1 vs rockford fosgate bdcp2500?? The legends continues 🙌
hi i need help. i was working on my bros car and noticed his wires from amp to subwoofer box burned the terminals. the amp is still working and the sub is still good. what could have cause it? his set up is a 13w7 wired at .7 connected to a memphis prxa 1500.1, wires connecting amp to sub is 8awg
Hopefully you can upgrade your power supply we love to see what these amps can do But besides that cool video 😎 Love kicker I have alot of kicker ZX,kx, Dyno the ZX 2500 kx 2500
Another good video! Kicker is very solid brand with pretty good prices for a reliable product. I feel like they are kinda over looked nowadays for the new brands like that are the fad right now. Kicker been solid og leader forever seems like.
Yes another grade A video from my guy HiFi👍🏾 I'm digging the digital read out that's a nice feature with allot of functionality. Keep that test bench busy and we'll stay tuned in. Happy New Year I wish health and happiness to you and your family.#TeamHiFi
all the allen bolts being the same size is nice. I just spent the last 2 weeks looking for fork connectors small enough to fit this taramps amp finally found them at work of all places. was that amp made around the same time as the war horse ? kinda has that look👍
Nice video, nice amp! I have a question though, Hifi... are the power ratings shown in this video certified, uncertified, or dynamic rms watts? Thanks.
I want your opinion on something HfiVega. I've never liked screwing screws straight into the cord! you are breaking the cord and some of the cord may come on the outside of the screw and will not make optimal contact. If you want to get the best possible connection then this type of connection is not the best!
Everything in car audio is a trade off some of it is worth the convenience while others are not. The difference is so negligible I don’t mind using set screws.
@@HifiVega Ok. Thank you for sharing your opinion. There is a reason that almost all lamp wires have a metal sleeve shrink on the cord. If you use a screw connection with a screw, you will destroy the cord!
@@HifiVega Screwing a screw straight into a cord is not good! 1. You destroy the small wires in the cable. 2. Many of the small threads in the cord go to the side and do not get as much pressure against the metal
@Eric Vincent It is true. I think ferrules have too thin walls for thick power cables for car stereos. all small wires in the cable must have equal pressure on the metal otherwise there will be no good contact. Amplifiers should have had the opportunity to use cable shoes! Many people also use the wrong shrink tool and use the cheapest edition instead of the more expensive one that's the right one to use
Stormy Young if you decide to go with cutting your rear deck make sure to do some research and appropriate bracing because you can lose some of your vehicle’s structural integrity. Research similar builds and ask questions if possible. Good luck and be safe whichever way you decide to go.

Kicker has been solid
Brandon Hannah for sure
I have 2 of the black first run kx1200.1s I run strapped.

I don't know about the sx but the kx doesn't have the greatest damping factor...

I have a 2003/2004 KX1200.1 and its still alive and kicking. I run it everyday. And I'm positive it does well over rated.
I miss the ZR and XS series
Joey Holthusen me too! They were killers
You don't have to. You can buy them all over ebay.
1 Allen key to rule them all!
