Fuck record companies, this is beautiful, thought provoking, in zeitgeist connection with his people of allmost all walks of life. People will become afraid if Artists like Morrissey were not hidden away because 'they' fear the message. Well Done Moz.
I was blessed to see Morrissey perform this beautiful song in Ft Lauderdale in October. It’s haunting. I cried because I have been to Notre Dame de Paris many times. It’s my spiritual place. Notre Dame, we know who tried to kill you. Love you Morrissey. If you know, you know.
... Hey I just saw this now (I am French) , until now there is no real conclusion about this huge fire of Notre Dame de Paris ("She" was the most visited place with "Le Louvre" and "the Tour Eiffel'' in the center of Paris) ... And "chief ingenieur" (the general Jean Louis Georgelin choosen by french president Macron because the french police said it's not terrorism, it's an accident) who was doing the new investigation, died last year (summer 2023), from what ? Ha Ha Ha, it's like the investigation, nobody is sure ... ( " fallen during a mountain hiking in summer 2023 " ... Who pushed him ,) ? ). And Notre Dame is still not rebuilded now in 2024 ... Great song, great MORRISSEY like always !!! THE MOZ, everybody should know him and love him !!! PUT..N !!! MORRISSEY grandiose comme d'habitude, superbe chanson !!! @@sergonioradze the truth is that Palestinians have been oppressed by Israel since 1948. And Morrissey is an immigrant who complains about immigration and calls the Chinese a sub-species.
Great topic for a song, generic and repetitive song. He wrote some killer tunes for the “Bonfire” album which sadly weren’t released and now he is trying to come up with material quickly to release which unfortunately does not seem to have the same level of quality as songs like Saint in a Stained Glass Window, Bonfire of Teenagers, I am Veronica and Sure Enough, The Telephone Rings!
This song is a "mood" how you would call it in today's terms. The beat is solid, it's catchy and good for the ear. I would gladly listen to this on Deezer.

I don't actually understand what is being implied here. Who does Morrissey believe is responsible for the fire? The lyrics is too sparse to feel one way or another about it other than confused as to the message or what he supposes should be done. If one wishes to make a provocative or unpopular statement about such an event, go for it. Clarity would make it stronger... This is no Neil Young "Ohio."
He seems to be insinuating that terrorists caused the 2019 Notre Dame fire, albeit with a complete lack of evidence or anything to corroborate such a statement other than his mistrust of the officials who ruled out terrorism. It's quite common for news reporters to say after a violent crime, "it's not being treated as a terrorist incident at this time" or something similar. Hence it must have been terrorists by Moz-logic?
@@miho-zc6so I could understand that if the lyrics were thought provoking, but they aren't they are direct aswell as sparse. His whole b sides album is better.
Keeps repeating ‘We will not be silent’ but stays silent. Which scapegoat or bendy mirror does Morrissey think burnt Notre Dame Cathedral - an incident officially ‘accidental’, no? At times, Catholics were the scapegoat. Maybe he’s letting go of ‘ancestral trauma’ at an Other’s expense. Very common, pretty lost.
Just pay interest to details of this strange fire. To fire up a very dry and tough 800 y.o. oak beam with a cigarette is a hell of a job, but according to official truth this is the cause.
This song is boring both lyrically and musically. It is surprising because a lot of the other new songs he has been performing are quite good, especially “I am Veronica.”
His voice sounds good, the band sound good, poor lyrics though the new songs are mostly disappointing to me - apparently some bloke who worked there admitted to burning Notre dame? Morrissey seems to get his news from that guy Paul Joseph Watson now though which is a shame. Horrible seeming man he is! (Paul)
@@onibformi3590 I think so oni. It's a shame because listening to the song a couple more times I like the melody. Just wish Morrissey hadn't gotten into this sort of stuff. Being 'woke' is surely a good thing most of the time. I dunno. Morrissey hardly belongs to the alt-right faction. He still is queer as one can imagine due to his older songs and the imagery he uses in his live performances. The puzzling thing is that Morrissey shouldn’t be horrified by woke culture as he was a proponent of it back in the 80s - as we all know Morrissey is a queer man - partly a gender bender.. The Smiths even had a transgender woman on a record sleeve (Candy Darling). Also until now Morrissey isn’t following alt-right positions in the US. He frequently had his band wearing Anti-Trump-Shirts. Morrissey seems still not completely lost. He should get rid of his behavior constantly burning his own territory with axing his management and leaving record contracts without valid reasons.
His "Bonfire" songs were better than this and the lyrics were clever. This is just lifeless and sounds like the worst of the Stones Some Girls Era, without Jagger's moves. It's a shame Bonfire never came out, the songs were quite good.
