I used to ride these all the time between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh before the line was electrified. They are fine for a journey of that length but not suited for intercity services to Aberdeen or Inverness. I do prefer them to the class 385s that replaced them on the Edinburgh route as the 170s have comfier seats and lighting that not needlessly bright
Are ScotRail still going to keep the Class 170s that some have been cascaded to Northern. Maybe Northern could have more Class 170 Turbostars from ScotRail to improve their services in the North of England.
