I don't remember moving this slow. When I was in basic they had the high stress/low stress training. We were high stress. Lol
Yeah I have more footage from the cycle before this and it was a muddy mess!
For me it was baking at almost 100 degrees and we wasnt slick Hollywood or full kit and if your squad didnt move fast enough and execute the obstacle properly guess what... You're doin it again. Not Sharpshooting just saying how it was over 10 years ago. Myyy how times have changed. WOW
@@rj8183 this is the confidence course not the obstacle course. I get what you’re saying though. The confidence course has a focus more on individual and team development and the obstacle is done to “Smoke” you out. Our guys also had a rougher day on the obstacle course.
@@FitOneTech Yeah I get it some soldiers do need this that are on the fence to keep em goin 11b OSUT has changed some for good and some.. Eehh. But overall I guess its a step stone to whats to come Im no expert.
If all goes well with the physical test at MEPS on the 27, I’m shipping for Benning the first of February. Infantry Recruit.
Nervous as hell about all of this, didn’t think I would ship this fast.
So it’s pretty possible. I signed my contract today “1/22/21” and I leave the first for ft benning for the 22 week training cycle. Good luck man 🤙

As a graduate of OSUT Harmony Church 1985, and with all due respect, the tone here makes me think more of a civilian summer camp than Army infantry training. Perhaps the current model develops better soldiers, but it doesn’t look at all like the infantry school I saw.

I agree completely! Where's all the hollering and screaming from the drill sergeant telling you to move your ass. If you weren't fast enough you'd get smoked even harder then run the course again.

I see that this unit was doing low- stress training. I hope that when I get to join up, its like this at least part of the time
Better hope it’s high stress if you plan to join an MOS that may deploy some day. The tougher the training the better. Low stress training doesn’t help anyone. Only did it to combat suicides. Those suicides just get swapped for death over seas when you aren’t properly prepared to do your duties in high stress situations. I went through Infantry basic followed by 3 years active. OT sucks but it’s worth it. Best of luck to you

@r_ elentless01 I went through osut. And believe me when I tell you, you’re going to have less faith in those guys by the end of the cycle than in the beginning. Because you’re going to realize that the “they will get better by the end” mindset, doesn’t work😂 you realize how many shitheads make it through.
@@nikoliomlin1370 I can't count how many of the guys in my cohort didn't make it past the end of their first year once we got to our unit. Drugs did most of them in.

We didn’t have those foam pads back in the 80s. It’s best to learn not to fall off😂😂 plus me had saw dust pits or sand pits.

Remember in the 60’s we had a similar test more difficult, but we carried the m-14 throughout.

Hello everyone, I'm taking the asvab this week and then going to meps on the 28th-29th this month and hopefully osut at ft benning towards the end of next month. Clearly I don't know how all of this works, my talks with my recruiter tend to be short due to me being 29 with 5 kids and working full time. Now the question I have is is there anything (other than paperwork) that I should take to fort benning with me? Like razors, shoes, underwear, watch, etc. I just want to make sure I'm as prepared as possible

I went in 2010 and returned as Cadre as an officer. It’s just as hard. This was filmed and DS don’t act wild on camera…

What’s the need for shouting wolf pack and clicking their heels like Dorothy in Alice in wonderland when they fall backwards ? Is this just American army thing?
The feet thing is to “prevent dirt” but it’s honestly teaching them to follow instructions. Wolf pack is our motto so instilling a sense of team. Just little additional things.

I've heard stories of people being kept in osut or basic for over a year. Is this true or possible?
The possibility is highly unlikely. People like that would have to have a serious injury and would’ve had to restart due to injury. I wouldn’t even have that thought as the odds of not graduating on time due to injury are still pretty low. Say it did happen most times you would be inserted into a class where you left off. Quitters/suicidal people that’s a different story...

I graduated in '04, with all honor and respect to the Drills. The government has turned this into beginners parkour. No sense of urgency. Real time training, for the actual in case event. I'm not even sorry for saying this, but if our military is to continue to be "great", training needs to go back before whatever this cluster fuck is. Feels like baby ROTC.

Awesome! If you don’t already have an airborne contract you have to be really fit and high speed and hope they have slots.

Enlisted, during the summer months , many of the trainees are just finishing high school and then arriving here.
What if u can’t climb the rope ?😂
Many trainees can’t as this is done in the first week usually. There’s a ladder on the side to climb up after doing push-ups or something as “punishment”

@@diamondwolfpack6 hi 😃 do exercises and push ups, run 🏃♂️ every day at least 3 miles and the walks are long my son tell me that they walked up to 17 miles with all their backpacks 🎒 it was what made it more difficult but he did it and you are going to do it too. I thought this may have been my unit, E 1-50, and my cycle. But it’s neither. I should’ve known better. When we did all of that the water was up to our waists. Seriously

@@admiralv3538 I was in the cycle right after you then, unless you mean 22Jan2021. I got to 30th AG on 10Feb2020. I was in 3rd platoon with SDS Duncan, DS Morse, yeah?, DS Harris, and DS Selenas. Captain Ball was the CO until he left. And First Sergeant Dearden was there the whole time. Though COVID starting affecting us in the last or the second to last week of White Phase. And for at least a third of the cycle SDS Duncan was the acting First Sergeant. And as you know we were their first 22 week cycle. And we did not get any passes to leave. We were restricted to the company because of COVID. We stopped going to the DFac as soon as COVID made an impact on us. And we didn't even have family day. What platoon were you in?

What happens when you can climb the rope?
I assume you mean can’t climb, they give you a class, but it’s all technique more than muscle. you just have to do push-ups and climb the side ladder.

A confidence course that is done the first week of 22 week program makes you think they aren’t well trained? It’s BASIC training. Everyone acts like their basic was insane and as someone who breezed through it 11 years ago, it’s BASIC for a reason. You didn’t do a confidence or obstacle course? The drills also don’t freak out when the camera is on...

This specific video and all my videos are from Infantry Osut which is Similar to Basic Training, as many of the early events are identical.

I’d say they are fun, most Soldiers enjoy doing the obstacle courses. Really only the ones terrified of heights and when it’s extremely hot make it no fun.

Everything looks easier in short clips and taken out of context, as in they’ve been up since 4 am , did a ruck, did extra exercise etc. it’s also not supposed to be impossible, as this is like week 1

What if you can't get passed a certain obstacle ?
During the confidence course, all obstacles can be accomplished. Some people freeze on the obstacles involving heights, but still required. The main obstacle on both courses people can’t do is the rope climb but there’s a ladder to climb usually after you knock out push-ups

Yeah, they used to have family days, but due to COVID -19 Fort Benning is not open to families/ off post passes are not approved.
But soldiers can walk around on post?
@@shanefarley3364 it depends on the current restrictions and your commander. Some do allow Soldier’s to go to PX etc .
