  • Trick or treat?
This video is the 4rd in my Starlink in motion series. In my previous video I killed the dish.
If, like me, you have killed your Starlink Square dishy with bad POE wiring, then take a look at this video. It may give you some inspiration.
As we approach Halloween, can I bring it back from the dead?
In this video I cover topics including:
Some obvious signs of why the dish died
The very basic electronic repair kit I have while traveling .
How frustrating it is to watch an old dude with bad eyesight try to do a repair of fine delicate electronics using brunt instruments.
Removing a BY220 schottky diode and not replacing it with anything I.e going with no protection
    Jumpering the burnt copper trace
Powering the dish up using the original cabling and router
    The result!!
Thanks to @steelcuts, @sayanchx for their guidance on how I might go about repairing the dish.
My long term goal is to mount the dish in the sunroof of our Tesla Model Y and power it directly from the cars 12v system bypassing the Starlink router and 240v.
I plan to use an Eero 6 router. It is ideal because it can power directly off USB-C from the car, and it is compact.
    =============
We have started a 25,000 km+ figure “8” lap of Australia in our Tesla electric car. The planned route is Canberra - Port Augusta - Darwin - Broome - Perth - Port Augusta - Alice Springs - Mount Isa - Townsville - Sydney - Melbourne - Hobart.
At the time of posting this video we are in White Peak, near Geraldton WA.

Good to see someone try and learn as you go. Its the best way to learn. I always say "Anyone can do it with all the right tools and money but what fun is that". Thanks for the video 👍

That was actually amazing. As you said, you couldn’t make it worse so give it a go!

Thx. I was so surprised it worked. I had very little faith in myself and the tools.

Sorry to hear that, but sounds like you are very close. I would say you have a bad connection in your Ethernet jack. I am almost certain on this. Especially if you are getting some throughout. Try reseating the wires in each connector. Do you have the plastic tool to seat the wires?

@@AUSY8 i already change ethernet connector and cable but same results. is it possible that the POE Transformer is damaged

@@tsantaandrianarivomanana5260 I'm not sure. I was getting no signal when I burnt the traces near the POE transformer. You however seem to beI getting some signal, so I think maybe you have a different problem. It really sounds like a connector problem.
