Malian main here, absolutely love these adorable little Ilalu-bois. A pro tip for you new folks - At the very start of the game, after you sent your 1 villager to build the pit mine, highlight the remaining 5 villagers and put them in a control group (I use key 5 but do what’s comfortable). Next, press SHIFT then click on the sheep. This will shift queue the villagers so that when they finish chopping the first tree (which always gives you 6 houses) they’ll immediately go to food to help your age up. Putting these 5 wood chopping villagers in a control group is very convenient for a few reasons. The first is that as soon as you have enough resources to age up you can quickly select an optimal number of villagers and place your landmark down. The second reason it’s really convenient is that you can quickly send a chunk of villagers to whatever resource you need depending on the game. For example, as they build the landmark I like to shift queue them to wood so that as soon as they finish the landmark I have 5 more villagers chopping wood to get my 2nd pit mine or a fast archery range against aggressive civs. As soon as I have enough resources for a 2nd pit mine I move these 5 villagers over to start mining gold to help with the cow boom. Since they’re in their own control group it’s as easy as pushing a button. That one simple step in the early game can make your early macro so much more precise.
