  • The crises of our day (global coronavirus pandemic, the ongoing War on Ukraine, global immigration, economic decline, rising inflation, political squabbles, and personal and emotional malaise) have accentuated the importance of human resource issues to help an organization succeed in the marketplace. Numerous HR innovations in programs, processes, practices, and digital apps have occurred under the rubric of HR transformation. We believe it is time to offer guidance on the extent to which organization effectiveness initiatives in talent, capability, and leadership deliver results to employees, strategies, customers, investors, and communities. During this session, professor Ulrich will shift the discussion of HR transformation from what is done to what should be done. Rather than randomly create innovative HR initiatives, business and HR leaders can receive rigorous guidance on where to focus for results.

How to explain that despite the exponential growth in EE/EX/HR tools and billions invested the needle hasn’t moved. HR has all the responsibility and none of the authority. A seat at the table was mentioned. Well, that’s one seat and that’s all having a seat at the table means. The rest of the team will need to be convinced and absent examples that’s a tough sell. How many CHROs have EE as a part of their compensation plan? If there were wide spread sources for success stories, CEOs and their boards would be all over this, they are not.

Where are the HR transformation examples? Who did it, how long did it take, how were the results measured, what was the impact on business metrics? It’s amazing how needlessly complex this subject has become. HR is a department name, not a skill. Here’s the best test, go into a room with a CEO and team, explain where you have delivered an HR transformation,. Or where anyone else has transformed HR to the extent business metrics were improved? Someone must have done this, but who? Otherwise this is all hype!
