    My setup with my dog is a little different. She is only a 20 poumder, but she is blind and has neurological problems due to having contracted and survived distemper prior to being vaccinated as a puppy. She is one of the reasons I camp. I cannot board her, so she is always with me. I needed space in my squaredrop for both of us to sleep, but also space where I could sit down with her to feed her, etc. She requires medicine with food three times a day on a fairly precise schedule, and she cannot feed herself. Yes, I sit and hold the food and water bowls for her and try to help her maintain her balance. So, I have 8 inch high cot with a 4 inch mattress on top where I sleep. She sleeps in her crate at the back end of the squaredrop. The remaining space alongside of my cot is the space where I can sit with her and care for her in any weather. I put 1/2 inch foam tiles over the entire floor. The space beside the bed has a washable rug and rug pad covering it, so it is perfectly comfortable for someone my age to crawl around on my knees. The cot allows me to store most things underneath it, so that floor space is always available when we need it.

    Only a dog lover will understand!!!!! kudos to you, I have a modified teardrop trailer for off Roading back country travel and it’s awesome I love it, the more you spend your time doing it the more you learn especially with dogs, (I see you have a boxer👍👍) I don’t go into areas where there’s people, only back country so most of the time what I see is bears sometimes mountain lions and tons of wildlife my Little girl (Boxer🐶) has become a pro camper/mountaineer/backpacker, not sure if your camping unit has a reversible fan on the ceiling and that helps condensation.

      They sure do add an extra element to it. And you're right: I have learned so much the more we travel. You can watch videos and read everything out there and there's no substitution for actually living it.
      We haven't seen much in the way of bears and mountain lions and I'm ok with that unless it's at a faaaaaaaar distance. Having a stare down with a couple of moose was close enough for me. Then again, there was the time we got charged by a grouse...
      I do have a little USB fan and it does help with the condensation. I'm thinking I might get another, larger one. Apparently we are all heavy breathers.
      King (my Meathead) gets mistaken for a boxer or mastiff cross a lot but he's actually an old english bulldog. The funny thing is that I got him after my boxer passed and he is so much like her, it's eerie. Even the profiles of their heads are similar. Boxers are amazing dogs and very special.

    I will keep one of the doors open to help with condensation. It also allows pups to hop out and keep a watch on the site. It seems to work so far. I still get condesntaion when temps are at freezing mark

    • @adventuredawgs
      @adventuredawgs  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That would certainly help with the air circulation. My pups aren’t quite at a level where I can let them keep an eye on things and there are so many places we’ve been with broken glass and other hazards that I’d worry. Have you had any issues with that?

    ouch air vent at the top
    that is for cooling

    • @adventuredawgs
      @adventuredawgs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is. I find that by opening a window a crack, I can control the air flow better which helps to reduce condensation better than just leaving the vent wide open. If you use a charcoal grill it's the same principle 😁

    • @TheRoidemortetfleur
      @TheRoidemortetfleur ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Smoke and heat goes up. Water goes down I believe. I don't know. I saw ventalation tubing on modern tents that have full heat and air go into the lower side.
      It was just a nitpickthing. Yet I'd be tempted to run a hose down pass a seal in this case.@@adventuredawgs

    • @adventuredawgs
      @adventuredawgs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheRoidemortetfleur if we need a hose we have bigger issues 😉 My thinking is that as the warm air rises through the ceiling vent, it draws in cooler air from the windows which are closer to the bottom. Its a passive way to keep the air constantly circulating and helps to move the moisture out. But I’ll definitely take a look at those tents and see if there’s a design feature I can borrow.

    Have you ever heard of a down blanket sleeping bag like thing called a Puffle? Sierra Madre sells those. They are so light weight and they’re the warmest thing in the world. They’re the best down and the softest material and hold your body he in. Amazing! I travel in a teardrop trailer with my jack Russell

    • @adventuredawgs
      @adventuredawgs  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think I’ve heard of that exact model but I have a down mummy bag and I know exactly what you mean about being warm and light. Lilly and Leo both like to get in the sleeping bag with me so now they get their own blankets which is a nice compromise for my pups. Does your Jack Russell like to climb inside with you too?

    Ah Chris, such good stuff here! My Frenchies are like heat seeking missiles when it is chilly ( see pic, Jumbie and Pippi). Charlie (female chow/lab mix also in pic) just likes to be close and Chance is kinda big and runs hot. Hmm, have you seen one of the Bean Teardrops that has a bunk type option above your feet that I think is a perfect spot for our 2 bigger dogs? LOVE the stairs!! Thanks for your thoughts :-) Barret

    • @adventuredawgs

      Thank you!! I’m glad you liked the video. Your pups have the sweetest faces. Give them a little scratch from me. I bet they’re perfect little warmers when it gets cold. Who needs propane heaters when you have puppy heaters? I have seen the Bean Teardrops and having bunks is such a great option. It’s always so cool to see how much can be done with such a small space. The funny thing is that Leo (my Boston and the smallest one) would probably want the bunk. Lilly and King have to be touching me when they sleep. I’m curious if you have any other tips you’d add too.
