The moment I heard the guitar playing I whipped out Shazam to find the name of the song, and when I saw it was a song by The Nationals, I knew the series was ending off with a good song.
The National really are incredible. Late night, after a few drinks, I can easily fall into a trance with them on in the headphones. Keep the art coming.
,,My dearest Hannah, this is the most difficult letter I'll ever write. You may have seen my name among the casualties of Hurricane Laura, and I believe that's for the best. I'd give anything to see you and Harrison again. To see him smile. To hold him. I celebrate his birthday in my heart. I want what every father wants: for his child to be happy. To live and love without fear. To share his gifts with the world. But we both know that, with me around, a normal life for Harrison won't be possible. This is not an easy decision. Sometimes I wish the hurricane had taken me, released me from the burden of my own urges. Instead, it showed me that I have to bear them alone. That's my fate. So, unless Harrison starts showing any dark tendencies, I beg you... Let me die so my son can live."
These guys are the best band on the planet. Imho. It may take a while to get into them, but once they've established that intravenous line to your soul, there's no escape. No one else comes close.
I didn't like this song at all the first few times I listened to the album. However, now it's one of my favorites on the album. I read that Scott Devendorf sees this song as a meditative entrace to the album. The chord change when they shift to the "I should live in salt for leaving you" line is beyond brilliant.
I used to think that Johnny Cash was able to describe every situation that my life had ended up at. Nerp, The National filled in a few gaps. Smiley face and then some sad faces which are tearful happy faces.
+Shane Pleasance At first, I was so unconfortable while listening to it, this apparently clumsy time signature,...but now is like honey flowing to my brain.
I feel like the best way to divide it is: 2/8 + 2/8 + 2/8 + 3/8 = 9/8 first bar then simply 4/4 or 8/8. The chorus actually has a 9/8 bar every fourth measure: it's 4/4 - 4/4 - 4/4 - 9/8
Don't make me read your mind, you should know me better than that. It takes me too much time, you should know me better than that. You're not that much like me, you should know me better than that. We have different enemies, you should know me better than that. I should leave it alone but you're not right. I should leave it alone but you're not right. Can't you write it on the wall? You should know me better than that. There's no room to write it all, you should know me better than that. Can you turn the TV down? You should know me better than that. There's too much crying in the sound, I should know you better than that. I should leave it alone but you're not right. I should leave it alone but you're not right. I should live in salt for leaving you behind. Think about something so much, you should know me better than that. Start to slide outta touch, you should know me better than that. Tell yourself it's only noise. You should know me better than that. Learn to appreciate the void. You should know me better than that. I should live in salt for leaving you behind
Well, so do many other songs. The original "song" is Canon in D by Pachebel and other songs with similar progression are e.g. "Pet Shop Boys - Go West", "The Eagles - Hotel California" and "Green Day - Basket Case" =)
agree, although i like heavenfaced, graceless and pink rabbits too (slightly more). well, everything except the last song hard to find that has this tinnitus thing going on all through the whole song
For everyone who will miss Dexter, you're not alone
Thank u...❤️
🔪🩸👨👦
This song closed out the final episode of Dexter New Blood and it’s use was absolutely breathtaking.
The moment I heard the guitar playing I whipped out Shazam to find the name of the song, and when I saw it was a song by The Nationals, I knew the series was ending off with a good song.
It made me understand it better
I'm so upset with the ending..hurt me to see dexter gone..damn Harrison.. I know dexter wanted that but I didn't lol
it was fucking PERFECTION
I actually cried at the end of Dexter new blood when he was killed. Felt like losing a family member. Greatest show I ever watched
I’m never going to forget you dexter
The National really are incredible. Late night, after a few drinks, I can easily fall into a trance with them on in the headphones.
Keep the art coming.
Just heard it on last episode of Dexter New blood.... It's pretty good...
Nearly cried after that final scene
That odd bar with the extra beat in the verse works so well.

Thank you Dexter 💞
Such an amazing song. Hits you deep

Such a crazy ending to Dexter
Gonna miss you Dex ❤️
Dexter brought me here. Perfect song to capture the emotions of the ending 😭
That time signature...
+Shane Pleasance
At first, I was so unconfortable while listening to it, this apparently clumsy time signature,...but now is like honey flowing to my brain.
17/8
It's in 9/8
17/8, First count 9, then count 8. Then is goes to 4/4.
I feel like the best way to divide it is: 2/8 + 2/8 + 2/8 + 3/8 = 9/8 first bar

Underrated brilliant song
Just heard this Song on Dexter New Blood Season Finale.
where the fuck was this video my whole life
such an amazing music
The random moment when the keyboard player pulls a trumpet out of nowhere and starts rocking out :)
Beautiful
dexter's ending is just too much man
Almost as emotional as Breaking Bad ending and Badfinger.
@@Inezvanderswede yup almost as
I had to keep pausing it. It was so emotional. Thought his death was going to come in vengeance. Not compassion! I'm a mess.
Gonna miss you Dexter Morgan 😢 💔 😞
@@Inezvanderswede eh, I kinda wanted walter to die after he killed mike whereas I was rooting for dexter the entire show.
Love this song because of Dexter...😇
Dexter Brought me here. Farewell Dexter.
Wonderful musicians.

Thank you Aaron for introducing me to this song
Don't make me read your mind,
you should know me better than that.
It takes me too much time,
you should know me better than that.
You're not that much like me,
you should know me better than that.
We have different enemies,
you should know me better than that.
I should leave it alone but you're not right.
I should leave it alone but you're not right.
Can't you write it on the wall?
You should know me better than that.
There's no room to write it all,

You should know me better than that.
There's too much crying in the sound,
I should know you better than that.

I should leave it alone but you're not right.
I should live in salt for leaving you behind.
Think about something so much,
you should know me better than that.
Start to slide outta touch,
you should know me better than that.
Tell yourself it's only noise.
You should know me better than that.
Learn to appreciate the void.
You should know me better than that.
I should live in salt for leaving you behind
Such an underrated song
Awesome band 😊❤️🎶🎼
Dexter:New Blood gave us the closure we never asked for
I love Matt
Sofi Alive what about everyone else, it’s not just matt that does all the work ;(
Love The National...
Also love the version made by Asgeir... he's a great artist
Open your eyes and look at what you did!
Music from movie manifest. Very beautifull.
Pretty awesome.
Sublime
Dexter brought me here what a great song to the ending of the show ,still hurts smh
Manifest temporada 1 episodio 6 ❤️❤️❤️
amazing
Puto dexter, vives en mi corazón no mueras joder.😢
Dexter, please come back!
Where were those guys? Before last manifest episode I never heard of them... that song is amazing 👍🏻👏🏻👍🏻👏🏻
A great song live
Listening to Alligator recently, I have to say: they're well matched
meravigliosi..
Dexter Finale brought me here.
One of the few songs that Noel Gallagher would've wanted to write.
link, please
Woah, you're right. It has the same chord progression, or at least a similar sounding one, as Dont Look Back in Anger
Well, so do many other songs. The original "song" is Canon in D by Pachebel and other songs with similar progression are e.g. "Pet Shop Boys - Go West", "The Eagles - Hotel California" and "Green Day - Basket Case" =)
Dexter New Blood, is reviving this song as well ..
Michael C Hall is a fan of Radiohead, Sigur Rós and The National.
There's an old song this reminds me of, especially at the, "you should know me better than that" part, but I can't put my finger on it. Anyone?
one down voter lives in pepper
He just got banned
Oh god yes
“Let me die so my son can live”
he looks my english teacher
Then I want his number.
Matt reminds me of Walter White in the last few episodes of Breaking Bad.
Not the same without Devendorf's frenetic drumming. Even tho it is pretty subdued in this song anyway.
such a great drummer, so interesting with the vocals
Like if you should live in salt.
Where was that trumpet???
agree, although i like heavenfaced, graceless and pink rabbits too (slightly more). well, everything except the last song hard to find that has this tinnitus thing going on all through the whole song
You are all here because of our dark passenger
Where's Bryan???
STELLAN SKARSGARD on vocals!
RIP DEXTER MORGAN
what the song play after the national in titre?
Purple Yellow Red And Blue by Portugal. The Man. I was just looking for it too. XD
"So unless Harrison should show any dark tendencies, I beg of you let me die, so my son can live." Dexter Morgan
Dexter New Blood me trouxe até aqui... 🖤
Estamos aqui!
Dexter New Blood Finale
WALTER WHITE!!!!!!
Say my name...
Your Heisenberg
YOU'RE GODDAMN RIGHT!!
Is it wrong that I got chills reading that?
bill anderson you're
Crappy ending to an amazing season of Dexter...
Yeah, nobody can convince me that dexter wants to die all of the sudden when a gun is pointed at him by his son saying he's a killer.
It was way too rushed imo
The final Dexter new blood.
Dear Hanna...
You should know me better than that. But maybe, I should have known you better than that.
Dexter 😢 😭
I'm here from Dexter... :(
Krass 🫤❤
After reading comment i finished dexter
DEXTER
He hurt his back and he had to rest.
final dexter
There's tough competition.
Bye Dex!
Dexter…. 😢💔 Why😟
I should live in salt for leaving you....that is a heavy weight. Damn
Forgive us Dexter ...
I don't know who the beardy trumpet guy is but they should keep him as a chorist... He sounds a thousand times better than the Dessner guys !
walter white... tiny bit? no?
PJSalt PJSalt PJSalt Reynad's Theme Song
Dexter😔
Dexter brought me here
Great Song ending the finale of Dexter Sorry Dexter had to finally die
song would of been two time better if he repeated this line twice back to back “i should live in salt for leaving you behind” if only😔
