Diecast Corgi Toys - Rover 2000 from 'The Avengers"

Hi 👋 I had many Corgi and Dinky toy cars in my childhood in the 1960s. This Rover 2000 is excellent. Very nice condition, and the box is a little rough around the edges but still good. My father drove a red Rover 2000 in the 1970s.

Wow you had experience in the Rover 2000, I bet most of them rusted away by now and can only be seen in the museums

@@BTANCo Yes its rare to see a 1970s Rover 2000 today. It's was a nice car that my father had. Cars did rust in those days as they got older. New cars don't now.

This is not of course an actual Corgi variant but a "code 3" (outside of both the knowledge or the timeframe of original Corgi manufacture). The car is a proper Corgi originally but one that has been modified to include an "Avengers" figure and with a bespoke but non-original box by Culfi Toy Soldiers - a rather elusive European (I think) small-scale modeller.
As well as the Trans-O-Lite version of the Rover 2000, Corgi also utilised the system on some of the Commer van chassis, the Toblerone liveried VW van, Buick Riviera (this included rear lights also) and in conjunction with an on-board battery, the Cadillac Superior ambulance achieved flashing roof-corner lighting "transmitted" through similar clear tubing....

Very interesting to see this old casting, and it's original box.
And well done for demonstrating the lights function...I wonder how many Corgi models had this feature ?
