I’m scared to shape my nails on my own bc it took months for them to grow out bc they are so thin and I’ll literally cry if I mess it up bc I’m a perfectionist 💀 Ik it’s dramatic but so am I

Love these! I want to file my length down to this shape but I was always told that if you file into the side walls, it will cause more side splits and weakness. Does anyone else know about this?

Karen I think everyone is different, personally my sides split when I have square nails but when I have almond nails they do not split at the sides. I recently went back to almond nails because my nails were splitting so much.

I also have the same problem as the previous reply. I find that my nails break a LOT more often when they are square shaped, but you should do the nail shape you think works best for you and your nail type.

@@LilypadPolish Well, I did it after watching the video, it's been almost 2 weeks now and I LOVE them! I use 3 coats of Nailtiques #3 for brittle peeling nails, then 1 coat of Essie polish, followed by 1 coat of Gelous by American Classic, then another coat of color and top it off with Out The Door fast drying top coat. I do the first 3 coats one night then the rest the next night. Lasts me a full 7 days without touch ups! And a must have is Bliss Kiss cuticle oil, at least 3 times a day!! Hope this helps

My nails break more easily if they are filed square. I usually file them a squoval/rounded way with less breaks, splits, or peels.

Thanks for all of your fedback! I'm loving the oval shape the best when they are long enough, that way I still have the sidewalls for strength 😊

I’m so scared to shape my nails. How did you get them so long and strong?

Heres some tips I learned from experience:
      - Don't bite nails
      - Be patient
      - Get used to wearing nail polish (nail polish can help protect the nail from possible cuts or breakage, it can also be used to keep the nails strong when in water. When nails are in water it becomes thin and fragile)
      - Use nail oils atleast once a day
      - You can also buy jojoba products, it can make your nails flexible and stronger
      - Be careful when doing things that can possibly damage your nails

Do your nails have to be a longer length to get that almond shape?

I’m having the same issue I’m having trouble figuring out how long I should grow out my nails before trying to attempt to shape them

    • @LilypadPolish
      @LilypadPolish  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

this is all about personal preference. but! when you change your nail shape to almond, it does appear shorter. so, if you’re more comfortable letting your nails grow out a bit longer than usual before going almond, you definitely should! plus, you could always file it down some more if it’s still too long for you :)

My nails look exactly like your right hand at the beginning but they're 3/4 dark yellow. :(. Going to try a peroxide mixture I guess??? I want to do a translucent color on them now so I need to do something. Maybe actually buff them? Then they always break though sadly.
