This new song just brings so much more to this musical that I didnt know I needed. It gives Jeremy even more context for his actions and Will's portrayal of Jeremy's anger is done so well. Be More Chill is, and always will be, my favorite musical. It was the first one I ever listened to and it literally changed my life. It helped me find all sorts of other music I love and it helped me improve my drawings since I drew all the characters (especially Rich) so much. The story and characters have always stuck with me and got me through middle school and is still helping me in high school. I want to thank everyone involved in the making of this musical and the actors who make this all possible. Jeremy taught me to be myself. Michael taught me to always be there for your friends. Christine taught me how to have passion. Rich taught me that people arent always who they seem to be and that they can change. Jake, Brooke, and Chloe taught me that popularity should not matter. Jenna taught me that gossip gets you nowhere, and to focus on yourself. The Squip taught me that outside voices should not affect you and you must follow your own voice. Mr. Reyes taught me that I can take a 5 minute break so that I can eat a hot pocket. Finally, Mr. Heere taught me that if you love someone, you put your pants on for them... In all honesty... Thank you. Just... Thank you so much.

In the original musical, Jeremy seems sadder and more pathetic. He’s unsure and is desperate to do something more. This Jeremy is... bitter. He feels angry and bitter at the world for his situation. He’s still Jeremy he’s just... louder. He’s more sure of himself and angry it’s odd for me. The original made his sarcasm sound tired and wistful while the sarcasm here feels like barely suppressed rage.
I actually like this Jeremy more than the off Broadway one. The bitterness and anger makes more sense based on his past, at least I relate personally to the anger at himself and the world for how he is.
Chase Bullock for me his singing of the high notes and low notes (croaky sound) get on my nerves and for me if it’s a musical, I look at the singing first so if it’s annoying (Tracy in Original Hairspray) I cant listen to it. I can’t stand him singing More Than Survi(aye)ve

Something that I noticed, is that in the original cast recording, Jeremy never really had an I want song. Instead they spread it out through "Two player game" which was good but more of a fun buddy song, and "More than survive" which is my favorite song, but really is just an intro song that sets up the plot line for the story. This song really brings to life the reason Jeremy ignored his friends and own conscience, and it is also similar to the own self struggle that he had in the original novel. So although It is in my opinion not the best song on the album, it is the best thing for Jeremy's character, and Will Roland really made the song his.
I remember hearing this from the front row back in August and man, I could tell how damn personal Will got with this song, his performance was so strong and he looked at me with this look of sheer heartfelt hopelessness during this song. Such an amazing performance, and what a wonderfully written piece. So much love
I saw the show Off-Broadway back in August, and as soon as Act 1 ended, I wanted to listen to this song on repeat because I loved it so much!! Will's right - Joe Iconis is so incredible at writing songs that are specific yet relatable at the same time and this song is no exception. Seeing this song performed live was so awesome and I will never forget how silent the audience was when Will sang "the problem has always been me!" Ironically, Will Roland said in an interview that in real time, the thoughts and emotions of Loser Geek Whatever are only a few seconds in Jeremy’s head - it just takes a bit longer than a few seconds to get that across to an audience.
I love will (Roland)’s version of Jeremy. I love that he is actually angry about the life and situation he’s in. I love how he portrays this as a last ditch attempt to be someone, apart from himself. I just love it. (If course I’m not saying I don’t like Will Connolly’s version of Jeremy too!)

Every single lyric in this song is relatable, but the most relatable one is: “If Brooke can look me in the eye like I’m some normal handsome guy I’m a trans guy, and my name is ironically Jeremy. My ex best friend was called Brooke and she didn’t support me in the slightest. This line breaks my heart every time I hear it because I know she’s never gonna see me like a ‘normal handsome guy’. This singular line is why I headcanon Jeremy as trans. That one relatable line.
Can I just say I love what this song does for Jeremy's character. Listening to the pre-broadway soundtrack it just felt wrong that he would immediately follow the word of a guy who verbally abuses him and makes him feel horrible about himself. This song does a lot to explain his mindset and why he makes the decision he does. I also love that it makes him an active agent in his own life: like its it's clear that he's the one making the choice and he's not being forced to do it. He's delightful complex, making a deplorable decision and yet you can completely understand why he would want to make that decision.
Gotta say, I love the part in this version where "prompt me, command me" is so much more intense... it makes the build up so much more suspenseful and the drop right after so much more satisfying!
God. This musical meant so much to me when I was 17 or so. Especially this song, I related to Jeremy so much. I’ve always felt different from my peers. A few weeks ago I was finally diagnosed with autism. I finally have an explanation for why I was always the loser, geek, or whatever. And I’m so happy with it. I don’t want to change myself anymore.

Every single lyric in this song is relatable, but the most relatable one is:

I’m a trans guy, and my name is ironically Jeremy. My ex best friend was called Brooke and she didn’t support me in the slightest. This line breaks my heart every time I hear it because I know she’s never gonna see me like a ‘normal handsome guy’.
This singular line is why I headcanon Jeremy as trans. That one relatable line.
I get it man. I'm also trans, although this is pretty much a villain song it helps me out.
Can I just say I love what this song does for Jeremy's character. Listening to the pre-broadway soundtrack it just felt wrong that he would immediately follow the word of a guy who verbally abuses him and makes him feel horrible about himself. This song does a lot to explain his mindset and why he makes the decision he does. I also love that it makes him an active agent in his own life: like its it's clear that he's the one making the choice and he's not being forced to do it. He's delightful complex, making a deplorable decision and yet you can completely understand why he would want to make that decision.

God. This musical meant so much to me when I was 17 or so. Especially this song, I related to Jeremy so much. I’ve always felt different from my peers. A few weeks ago I was finally diagnosed with autism. I finally have an explanation for why I was always the loser, geek, or whatever. And I’m so happy with it. I don’t want to change myself anymore.
There’s a bunch of comments saying they don’t like Wills voice but I personally think it’s unique and really fits the role. You can fight me but just listen to the 8-bit big band 2 player game HE SOUNDS AMAZING IN IT😁

Even though this song cut out one of my favorite parts from the original musical, it’s still great because it gives context to why Jeremy is making the decision to “upgrade” and shit. And the fact he’s self aware that’s he’s abandoning his one true friend adds to it I guess IMO. One of the other things I like more about this than the tiny segment in the original, is Jeremy’s sarcasm that’s almost complete anger that’s just suppressed?? I don’t know I ain’t good with words.
