    And Here you will be able to follow my classic mini restoration from start to finish! It is an Austin Mini Mayfair 998cc registered in 1986. I bought the car with 2 months MOT and it was running although the slave cylinder had gone. My plans for the car are to restore it to my standards just like my Orange one if not even better... if thats possible. More videos on the way of the classic mini so be sure to subscribe and keep up to date.

    Used to do mine with the engine in the car, I was 17 at the time, easy job, adjust on the two big nuts at the outside. Flywheel was knocked off thro the starter motor housing. I'm 69 now.

    Here's a tip, too late though, assemble flywheel puller (correctly) tighten up puller bolt as much as one thinks safe. If flywheel does not come off, stop, boil a full kettle of water, pour it slowly over the flywheel. Flywheel should pop off.

    Just goes to show, every job is a learning curve! The cheap tool would of worked if large bolt removed! How did we manage to live without TH-cam!! Keep up the good work...

    did you clean the surface of the plate face before bolting it together? oily/greasy marks don't do the clutch material any good

    I was yelling at you "take the centre bolt out first". If you`d done that the Halfords tool would have been fine.

    I think i would replace the crank seal, with the engine out and clutch plate removed. perhaps you did .

    Just to avoid confusion for others bro, the crank case cover is the opposite end of the engine, the casing that encloses the clutch is known as a bell housing or the 'wok'. Enjoying the vids never the less!

    Clutch seal was ok? Mines shot, leaking oil out the jiggle pin, was gonna attempt this with engine in car..

    not seen a mini clutch like that.... my mini different in mine. Yours looks easier what mine was to do (Morris Mini 1980 ... 1275 engine)

    Did the flywheel bolt really undo that easily? It should be torqued up to 150lbs/ft.....

    No amount of leverage will help when you fail to remove the crankshaft bolt first, no wonder you busted the tool. I just can not believe the things people do.

      Forgot to remove the bolt , the cheap pullers aren't great but they do the job most of the time if the clutch assembly isn't still bolted up. Doh!

      Suggestion only to use a drop on each both - because if you ever have to replace the clutch again, those bolts will be seized and hard to get off with so much loctite. Something I learned many moons ago.

      How far are you from finishing the build? I'm FINALLY just weeks away, its a long process, you have my full sympathy!
