I love these! They’re the perfect balance of sweet and spicy.
Jamaican beef patties are honestly underrated. I think they are incredibly delicious. I don't have them very often, but when I do I savor the taste
as a jamaican i am honestly impressed on how well you cooked this☺️.
these kind of look like my childhood ones
:3
Wow you are so well detailed with your recipes. The pie looks so delicious and flavorful and it has made me to subscribe and join the family. It's really inspiring to help me try it.Good job.

As a jamaican i can confirm that this is valid
For me being a jamacian im really happy that someone not from Jamaica would make this i thought nobody would expect Jamaicans so im really happy you made it
I love these sm for some reason
Looks delicious. In Indonesia we also have a snack that looks just like that, but smaller and medium in size. It's called as "Pastel" and it always filled with meat, dice cut carrots, and dice cut potatoes. The second version filled with almost the same filling but instead of meat, it use rice noodles as the replacement and the dish name Jalangkote. You can only find it in Eastern part of Indonesia (in Sulawesi provinces) to be exact.
Looks like tamil migrants from south India brought this to west indies. We make this during Christmas and we call it Pastole. A vegetarian variant is made with potatoes and green chillies.
I swear we have the exact same thing in Brazil
There are a bunch of names for basically the same thing. In Spanish countries, specifically in the Caribbean and Central America, they are called Empanadas. Some Spanish countries as well as other countries like you guys said, Brazil and Indonesia, also call them Pastels/ Pasteles/ Pastellitos. Most times I've seen them, they are filled with ground or shredded chicken or beef and then fried in oil. Other times I've seen them filled with sweet things like syrups and pastes, as well as cheese. One thing I stand firmly on though is that crimping them with a fork is better than by folding it repeatedly with your hands. It makes the edges really crispy, which is the best part. Usually they are a circle folded in half to make a semicircle but can also be squares. Kinda ranted too much but it's like my 3rd favorite food so I don't regret it.
As a man whose dad is a Jamaican🇯🇲, These are BUSSIN’ 😋
VERY GOOD!
Those beef patties look so good! great video!
Ty for showing what my people have been making for generations😊
my mom makes these all the time and they are SO good!
As a jamaican, this was my childhood pastry. But our beef patties dont really have scotch bonnet peppers in them
Mhm I was gonna say, my dad puts scotch bonnet in his soups but I don't get that heat from patties unless I order a spicy one.
No that's false every beef patty i bought is spicy
He making a spicy one in the video but you can make non spicy ones
this looks great! Keep up the good work! Love from Liberia!
I as a trini always saw these at shops and grocery stores and never really saw it being made. Thank you!
If you are in GA, a place called Petes Caribbean makes some GREAT authentic beef patties. The guy came from Florida (Parents knew him) and he has a nice place.
These are one of my fav snack i had as a kid growing up in NYC, although i preferred the chicken ones. Golden Crust hit different!
Looks good as always
We have our sweetened version of the same called Puri which is served during weddings usually stuffed with Sugar and grated Dry Coconut and in some cases Daal Halwa usually sweetened with Jaggery or Sugar. The coloring on top is sort of a cultural practice here where we draw moon or stars if its for a wedding ceremony. The style of patties like a half circle are a thing that only aunties or grandma’s can pull off seeing you guys do is surprisingly mind blowing😂
Looks delicious!
In Colombia we have basically the same thing called an empanada, its the same shape but the outside is less doughy and deep fried and theres mostly potatoes in the filling. Theres also Argentinian Empanadas that are more similar to this, except the dough is bone white.
Brazil calls them Pastels and they’re also fried. We usually put beef or cheese in them but I’ve seen other stuffing like this pizza flavor once.
Every one of his videos make me super hungry, idk how he does it 😂
I still eat these to this day! They give me memories of when I was in Jamaica
These look like South American meat empanadas.
But with different way to prepare the meat. Really unique
Thought you was about to diss them 🤨but you had me in the first half 😁
I mean the way they make the dough in the video reminded me of them as a South American
But the preparation of the beef made it different. Same goes with the mix of ingredients
As a person with a Jamaican mom, I approve of this.
Your voice is so calming 😊
Ah yes, the channel that i watch it every middle of the night , good work
Keep up the good work Gully! Love from India ❤️
Much love!

Imagine a golden gully and golden balance collab to make golden kulfi😳
As a Zambian, I used to buy these almost everyday at break time in high school... there were a bunch of vendors who would pass by our school selling all sorts of baked and fried goodies.
I didn’t know they were called Jamaican beef patties, I just called em meat pies. Forgive me for I have sinned😂🙏🏾
We have the same exact thing in Singapore and it's called epok-epok. Just that it's not big like yours, ours is smaller like the size of our palm hand.
The content of epok-epok is usually spiced potato, or sardine or veggies.
In Malaysia they call this "karipap" a.k.a. curry puffs.
This recipe looks great
My grandfather still makes these and they're delicious 😋

In Jamaica, we have a really popular brand of patties called “Tastee” and they put pig fat into the dough instead of butter which gives it (in my opinion as a jamaican) some of the best flavor in the world. Definitely try it next time!
Im not sure of ratios but probably use the same amount of pig fat as butter you used
People sleep on using animal fats over butter and oils, it's way more flavor and more bioavailable than plant based fats and oils (meaning after digestion it doesn't stick to your body as fat or cholesterol as much)
I'm from Toronto. Luckily we have a Tastee factory here. I've been eating them by the box since i was a kid
He's muslim, he can't have pig products 🤦♂️
The ones from jucci beef are the best in my opinion
Dang, that looks good
Not Jamaican but we make this every year for Jounen Kwéyól and special events or just if we feel like it
I always wondered what those red marks were haha I love eating these
I heard it was to show that there's meat there. There is another patty that don't have the red dot that don't have meat. Red means it's meaty
