    RULES:
    - Think of my streams as being invited to my house. If you enjoy it and behave well, you are welcome to stay. If you don’t like it you can leave. But if you are annoying, leaving rude comments or being disrespectful, it will most likely just lead to me closing the door to you and never let you in again. I use the ban function very liberally.
    - Comments about individual people that appears in the background of my video will be removed.
    - Read the FAQ (below) before asking questions.
    - Generic questions about Japan/Tokyo are better asked to Google.
    - Avoid foul language (as it might be blocked by Google and/or channel moderators).
    - Do not communicate exclusively in emoji.
    - Use English or Japanese in the chat.
    - Sexist, racist, xenophobic or other comments deemed inappropriate will likely lead to an immediate ban.
    - Arguing with the moderators will most likely also get you banned.
    - Don't spam.
    GEAR:
Live videos are filmed with a Samsung S21 Ultra. 4K HDR videos are shot with the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
    Gimbal: DJI OM4
    Recommended Equipment list:

    FAQ:
Where are you from? Are you Japanese?
    - I am Swedish.
For how long have you lived in Japan?
    - I came to Japan in 2008.
Why did you move to Japan?
    - I was interested in Japan since I was a child, largely thanks to growing up playing a lot of (Japanese) videogames as well as a brief interest in anime during my teenage years. When I finally came here for the first time I felt that it was a really nice and interesting country, and I decided to do what I could to move here permanently.
How did you get a visa to Japan?
    - It's complicated and my case is quite different from most, as I've always been self-employed. But basically, as long as you can show the immigration authorities that you have a stable income, there's usually a way. Personally, I was here on journalist visas until a few years ago when I got married. Now I have a spouse visa.
    Do you work in Japan?
    - Yes, I'm a photographer. Currently, most of my work is related to tourism and travel in Japan, but I also do portrait photography as well as documentary work. I used to write news stories and articles about Japan as well, mostly for newspapers in Sweden, but for the last 3-4 years, my work has been almost exclusively about photography. Sometimes I appear on TV too.
    What camera do you use?
    - My live walks are recorded with my phone, a Samsung S21 ultra, mounted on a DJI OM4 Gimbal. 4K videos are mostly shot with an iPhone 12 Pro Max. For my "real work", I mostly use a Nikon Z7, but I also have a Z6, Fujifilm X-T3, Leica Q and Ricoh GR III that comes with me from time to time.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to move to Japan?
    - Study, learn a skill that's in demand in Japan. There are plenty of available jobs here. Some knowledge of the Japanese language would also help a lot, not just to get you a job, but also so that you can actually enjoy life while living here as well.
    How did you learn Japanese?
    - I went to language school in Tokyo for one year in 2010-2011. After that, I've also taken some online courses and studied on my own.
How many languages do you speak?
    - Swedish, English and Japanese reasonably well, and also a bit of German, as I lived there before coming to Japan.
    Will you make bicycle videos?
    - No. Streaming and interacting with my viewers while riding a bike would be too dangerous.
    Can you show your face?
    - I prefer to keep a bit of privacy here on TH-cam, at least for the time being. I do streams exclusive to my Patreon followers from time to time where I show my face though, so if you are really eager to see what I look like, and if you want to support the channel as well, you should consider joining me there. / tokyoexplorer

I was there. One year ago, during the first stream. My word, the image quality, the sound quality, the internet connection stability. All of it has become so much better. Even the locations got wilder and wilder, that moment when we ended up in Tohoku, then far off to the south of Kyushu and some small sidesteps to Kyoto. We even got to experience the top of mount takao. All such great streams. Not to mention the unique encounters we saw TE have along the way. And let us not forget the chat and the people in there. TE's banter kept us busy. But we all had some intersting conversations ourselves. Good times were had over the span of a year. Last but not least, do not forget to thank TE's legs for doing their best all these times.

Excellent! Great views and places. Looking back to all the great times, and forward to another year. These videos have kept us sane in a crazy world of lockdowns. You can and should be proud, you have touched lives. Happy anniversary and thank you!

Man, those kiddos around your 1st meal & cake break in the koen were the besto for me!! I so miss having the little rascals in our life, TE. Right now I've got the old early '70s Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP) song from our Spotify cranked way up (even though it's early morning here in La La Land):
"Oh, what a 'Lucky Man' he was!"
(followed by that long, iconic organ riff of Keith Emerson's).
Replaying your break segment now... Great job!

Happy 1 year livestream anniversary! It's been great to see the channel evolve, from the original slow TV walks (that hooked me in immediately), to the 'Walk and Talk' series, through to the livestreams that we all know and love today! Keep on walking, keep on asking 'Are we live?', and keep on sharing your wisdom with us viewers. Itsumo arigatou gozaimasu 🙏🏻😊

Amazing city. I remember Asakusa as I was there yesterday. Love Shibuya at night and I remember how quiet is the Metro. We were there more than 25 years ago, without Google. Not easy to ask for food. And we had the best view from the Tokyo Metropolitan Building. I would love to visit Tokyo again! Enjoy!!!!!!

Congratulations on your first anniversary! I had a great time.
By the way, when I joined the chat, the only reason there were young ladies at the Tokyo Dome was to let me know that there was an upcoming concert by a Japanese artist called Exile.
But they might have misunderstood that I was advertising. That was not the case. I'm sorry.

Very fun stream, great sights. broke the (live) like record with 840 likes and 6 dislikes. Probably the super chat record too. I urge anyone reading this leave a comment (not reply) and 'review' the stream. I believe comments also help drive the algorithm to push this video to peoples recommendations as likes do.
Edit: I'm kinda curious how TH-cam comes to the 6792 views (the amount after the live is over) does that maybe mean 6800 people clicked on this? Or maybe stream refresh / buffers count as an extra view? Unsure.

Buildings that are common in Hong Kong are built using feng shui principles, so they have the art of the era and therefore flourish as a standard. While the modern, custom-made that looks beautiful and quaint, it has been bankrupt throughout many countries.

Couldn't watch due to health issues but hey world keeps turning and TE and his hundreds of invisible nerds on shoulder and in the pockets and on the gimbal strolled along... if I could I would make art of that. Now one candle on the cake ... wishes? Don't tell. No firmware update possible anymore in this other than if someone sponsors but hey Lucky Man ain't a material man , right? Thanks also from my side to the community who has some stables that allow a none patron to join. Jari and Jeni and Joel and wait ... is that a cat crew? Nah. No need for best wishes, you are already blessed. And thanks for show me my age my height even my music taste and other do have a common in this world far far away. I'm sure you'll do well and walk improving in the future even by time I can't. Even tho there are places I'd like to visit and also good people 🎂 auf wiedersehen ciao
