    Great video, I saw one of these cameras in an antique shop in the former Yugoslavia for 30 quid, I had no idea how to test if it worked.

    Very knowledgeable presenter and a lovely trip down memory lane to recall the joys of the Zenit cameras. Many a young photographer, now of a certain age, will have started on a camera like this.

    Thank you very much . I wanted a Helios 44 to go with my canon 5D III . I found it cheaper to buy the lens with the camera rather than on it,s own .So now i have a Zenit ET a Helios 44m-7 and 44m-4 . Just got some b/w film of which now i know how to put in and take it out with out "normally " bodging it up . Great video from a knowledgeably man . November 2024

    I'd love to pick up a Zenit camera with the Helios 44 in the future, the bokeh on the Helios is amazing.

    Thanks for sharing this! I have the same one (Zenit ET) but in black, and from the looks of it it's about 99% similar. I did notice that your ISO dial on the top also doesn't have the standard ISO numbers on it, is that right? Mine goes from 22 to 360, which I find very strange. Do you have any explanation to this, or perhaps even know how to set it when using an ISO 400 film for instance? Cheers /Fred

      Hello Fodson, Thnak you for your message. Yes it is odd. It is a standard called Gost and only used in USSR. It is very similar to ASA however. You can find more out about it here:-rafcamera.com/info/imaging-theory/gost-asa-din#:~:text=GOST%20is%2090%25%20of%20the,will%20make%20the%20difference%20negligable.

      Hello Max sonofdad, thank you for your comment. They did make a whole bunch of these over the years but maybe some were less reliable than one might have hoped for. Clearly your Dad's camera is going to be a keeper in any event and being a domestic one adds a bit more interest to it. I hope you enjoy your new as well however, good luck. MVC

    hello i've got a question, do you know how to use an external camera on this camera?? because when i'm shot with this camera my flash doesn't work but all the cable have attached on the flash spot

    • @mostlyvintagecameras4323
      @mostlyvintagecameras4323  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Naditia, thank you for your message. Flash should be fairly easy. You will need to set the shutter to the 30-X setting 9any higher and only part of your photo will be exposed). Then set the aperture based on the flash gun table. You can test if it's working without a film in by opening the camera back and connecting the flash, if it fires you should see the bright flash as the shutter opens. If it does not fire then maybe the cable is damaged. If your camera has a hotshoe you can try using it that way. I hope you figure it out. MVC

      Hmm how exactly it matches? Zenit et doesn't have the thing like Zenit 11 has to push and trigger the metal thing on lens

      @@dbnzone4845 Hello DBNzOnE, You should find a chrome switch on the lens near the mount which moves between A and M, You would need the M setting on this camera. All the best MVC
