    This week we are receiving another large barge delivery and staying warm because ITS STILL RAINING!
    We got invited up to the Percy Walkus Hatchery in the village so a few of us went up with Ted to transfer the baby Salmon from their pens to the net pens in the ocean. It was a big day but felt amazing to help such a wonderful cause.
    If youre interested in donating to the Percy Walkus Hatchery please visit the Pacific Salmon Foundation website. Link below.

    While were were at the village, we picked as much mint as we could fit into my back pack and brought it back to the lodge to make a very special treat for us all to enjoy.
    It's been a great week up here in Rivers Inlet. Thank you so much for joining us on our adventures! Thanks for watching and take care until next time!

    Back in the early 70 ‘s the airplane fuel was in a large tank across the bay. I went over with scuba and dove from the dock there down about 30’ or so to a very narrow ledge protruding from a steep wall of rock. I could sit on that ledge with my legs dangling over the edge, looking down into the darkness of the abyss. I was there a short while when my eyes caught movement coming towards me that my mind couldn’t grasp. It was a carpet of pink about two feet wide and maybe ten to fifteen feet long. It was fluttering as if in a breeze. It was a carpet of scallops and they would squirt along then flutter down a bit, then squirt along again. The whole carpet swam past and out of sight, it was magical. Just loved living and working at Good Hope, thanks for the memories that keep bubbling up…..
    Like the time we built a hang glider and towed it down the bay behind the tug with me desperately balancing it in a guide boat behind. One little breeze lifted me out of the boat, then ceremoniously dumped me in the drink, end of pilot training for that day, but the staff was hysterical, yup, really funny guys….but out of that I became a paraglider pilot, go figure.
    Or several of us going around the corner of the opposite point and when the tide is sweeping in diving down to the rock bottom and gliding along being carried by the tide, just like flying.

    Jenny, came upon your channel clearly by chance. I made many trips to Good Hope Cannery/ Salmon King lodge and Dunkenby. Was really great to see both crews working on the salmon, and to get to seeTeddy again, wow that was awesome. Have fished with him a few times and was always a lesson in fishing and life. My truck was stolen years ago and my tyee pins were on my visor. On a trip to Dunkenby I asked if they new the owner of Good Hope, and maybe a chance I could get replacement pins, and sure enough they sent them down. Was a special moment for me. Really great to see the lodge again, wish I could come back but such is life. Thanks for the wonderful videos and will be watching them all, 3 so far. Will be telling my fishing partners to watch, they will love it. Thank you. Joe.

    Logged in the inlet, and the head of Owikeno in the 80s lots of fishing lodges, yet we couldalmost walk across Owikeno River during the runs, we couldcatch all we wanted off the docks.
    The DFO eould leave there 14' boats in our care, we'd take their boats, nets, feed the crew a few times, fill the freezer, smoke a bunch, can them, sadly the fish farms wiped this all out.
    I'm sure some of the structure the lodges use are left overs from the logging camps.

    I fished at Rivers inlet lodge in late July 2008. It was a bust as out of 12 fisherman I was the only one that caught a salmon. They just were not there. The stock was over fished for so many years that they lost their strength in numbers and the fish population fell way off. Maybe this program going on will return the big salmon population one day but I hope BC has learned what needs to be done and reduce ALL recreational AND first nation take by 90%. The work going on to re-establish the salmon is very commendable! Well Done!

    Hi again Jenny! Loved the native artwork! As well as the tour of the village. It’s such a beautiful place! I can’t believe I’ve spent my whole life on the coast and never been up Rivers Inlet. I’m sure you get asked this a lot but does Tony ever open up the lodge to 3 or 4 day fishing trips for the public? Or strictly private only? I know Duncanby does a lot of that but the Cannery is so cool and the chefs food looks pretty spectacular! Keep the videos coming! I wish you continued success with the channel! Cheers. Doug from T-town.

      Hi Doug! Thank you for your lovely comment! I’m glad you enjoyed the video. At this time the lodge is completely private.

    Hello. I go into withdrawal when you don’t put out a video. My father-in-law and mother-in-law lived in a logging camp on Rivers Inlet. This was over 65 yrs ago . I enjoy the scenery.
    Coming from Sechelt this is great.
    Where did you get your drone. I would like to get one.

      Wow what a compliment. I’m so glad you are enjoying my videos so much! I am working on releasing a new one in the next day or 2 so stay tuned! I can imagine Rivers Inlet was a bit different 65 years ago!
      I bought my drone online from a company called DJI. The one I own now is a Mini 3 pro and I absolutely love it. You can find them on Facebook market place but I suggest spending the money on a DJI.
      Thanks again!

    Fellow fishing resort chef here, up on Prince of Wales Island, AK. Really enjoying the channel. How many guests/staff do you usually cook for a night?

    • @jenny_adrift
      @jenny_adrift  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      At the moment we have no guests. The first month is a skeleton crew of about 6 people. Right now there are 10 of us and when guests start arriving in July through mid September there are at most 12 of them. Plus staff and the owner and his family. During the busiest time I cook for around 40 people but usually 20 during guest season.
      How about you?

    • @sverre054
      @sverre054 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jenny_adrift we can fit 30+ guests if at capacity, which we generally are starting in late June through September. With staff we cook for 40-50 a night. Only 10 guests here right now, so the calm before the storm. Have a good season!

      We are sprouting mung beans but we also sprout other seeds to add to salads. Sprouted mung beans are usually cooked and when you add them to cooked basmati rice it makes a complete protein! Very good stuff. Thanks for asking!

    Curious as to what exactly a "private fishing lodge" means. Is it a corporate retreat, a personal (one-owner) retreat, or a group of private owners who own it? thanks.

    • @jenny_adrift
      @jenny_adrift  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! It is owned by 1 family. A dad and his 2 sons. They invite guests up and we take care of them. But most of the year it’s just staff and the dad.

    your putting the art work up, why was it taken down??? Theft? Doesn't someone live there year around??

    • @jenny_adrift

      No theft here. The winter watchmen lives here in the off season but has no use for the art. It all gets put away in the fall to keep it from getting dusty or weathered. Good question!

    i think you spend way too much time filming and not nearly enough time fishing.. I was the chef for idabel lake resort in Kelowna for several years and spent every waking free moment on the lake,,,, I also did a few summers as the head camp cook for the salvation army camp in Hopkins Landing on the sunshine coast..I lived on the pier catching flounders thoses summers. if I had a gig cooking in rivers inlet those halibut would have me on an avoid at all cost list.. oh my god so close to wicked high quality fresh seafood can you sense my jealousy ???

      If I spent all my extra time fishing, I wouldn’t be able to create these videos which is what I love to do.
