I was an 11 year old kid at Haliburton Hockey camp in Ontario. A young Scotty Bowman was there and he taught us how to skate backwards. I went home and played peewee hockey and won the Most Improved Player trophy. I give a lot of credit for that trophy to Scotty. He definitely knows how to get into a player’s head. He was personable, at least that is how I remember him. I will be 67 in April. That was 56 years ago. Thank you Scotty.

As a matter of fact, Nick and Jay don't just sit there stone cold still. They have a good rhythm of movement and facial expressions that are spot on. Just something I noticed as enjoyable.
He and my Uncle Lou used to sit together in Tampa and chat all game long. I asked my Uncle what they used to talk about and he said everything but hockey. I said seriously? Uncle Lou replied, that is why he would sit with me!
Bowman without saying the words Toronto will not win the Cup , Toronto's defence will be their down fall, Boston is a solid team that can roll 4 lines , you invest majority of your cap to 4 players instead of building a balance squad that has 4 lines like Boston or Florida you will have a tough time getting out of the first round , the reality is they need to build their d, if Toronto had a solid D like Boston or Florida I would say they have good shot , they only shot they have this year is a early exit in the playoffs,
What about their bottom 2 or bottom 3 forward lines? How can 4 stars win a cup when they'll get beaten up badly as the playoffs progress? You really need depth everywhere. I doubt that this team's owner even want to win a cup. Look at how St. Louis and Washington have fallen off the map after winning.
shamefully I admit I thought Mr Bowman had gone to his reward . Talk about beautiful surprises . Coach Scotty Bowman not only looks like many of my 50 something year old HEALTHY friends but more sharp mentally than almost all of the twenty something woke jokes we are force fed to listen to. This man , Scotty Bowman , even though I am a biased NHL fanatic ..... is truly a living legend . An addition to that statement is he was a living legend 30 years ago ! God Bless him and thank you Coach Bowman for all the people you have positively touched over your truly glorious life . Keep it coming Coach !
Scotty Bowman is 90 years old and he is still as sharp as he was when I'd see him behind the Habs bench in the 1970s. I kept thinking that he was going off on seniors tangents when answering a question but then he would tie it all back together. The man is a hockey legend. No that’s wrong, he is THE hockey legend.

So no fights , no body checking , no hooking ,no holding if Bobby Orr played today he would of scored 200 points a year and would of played for 20 years. It's shinny hockey in the NHL today.
Even if Toronto transplanted an entire D corps they would still fail. The reason is that the forwards do not play good D as well. They make silly passes, rarely cover their man and use silly poke checks in the D-zone instead of playing the body.
He wanted to come to Toronto as GM. Leafs denied his request for Autonomy. This was featured on HNIC many years ago in a interview with him. Problem with the Leafs has always been on top. So hard to cheer for this team everyday knowing this.
