As a hunter, camper, hiker I’m interested in the radios mapping functions. Even though you only have one radio I hope that in a future video you will tell about tracking a partner on the mapping app. It appears that Vero has produced a radio with the exact same features. Thanks for your very professional presentations.
In APRS they can send and receive messages, in other radios it cannot be done directly on the keyboard, but if we connect the radio via Bluetooth to a tablet, for example, messages can be sent and received through the radio and in the security system. APRS. Is it possible to do this with this radio? 73 and thanks for the video
I haven't played with APRS too much but there are menu items where you can check, send and compose messages for APRS. Haven't tried it. Next on my to do list.
Have you? Or would you be willing to throw this GA-5WB/UV-Pro on a service monitor to see what the receive sensitivity is. Mine seems a little lacking in that department, but I don't have the equipment to test.
Thank you for the interesting review! Have you tried the APRS messaging capabilities yet? That is, can you compose, send and receive APRS messages with this radio? 73's!
Has anyone successfully got these to aprs digipeat? I can get radio to radio msgs like Steve demos but the aprs repeaters are rejecting rendering the radio usless!
20 plus minute video and we never found out if it's VVUU capable or even if it's full duplex capable. I suppose this is the epitome of needing to dumb down reviews for the new generation of appliance operators. An entire video spent reviewing worthless features like Bluetooth programming... Of course I come from a generation of hams where when I started radios didn't even have memories come on my brain was my memory used to take me all of about 30 seconds to program a repeater from memory into something like a VX5 from the front panel... From the life of me i'm trying to figure out why in the world I would want to program my radio from my phone. Only I program my radios First get them and never have to touch the programming again. The programming aspects of HT are probably the least used function after the first couple days of ownership................. With an APRS radio I'm more interested in whether it's capable of VV or UU or full duplex operation am I gonna be able to use this on satellites..... One thing is obvious, the buffet brigade has really the Balfang Brigade has really dumbed down ham radio At this point it's nothing more than glorified CB. So sad.. I was watching this video hoping to determine whether this would be a viable alternative to something like a Kenwood TH-D72 For use as an APRS and satellite radio.

Yes, my hands-on with the VGC VR-N7500 showed it to be basically the same transceiver, but in a mobile format and 50w. Same app is used.
Thanks for the video. Lots of details as usual. The features are very interesting. I was not able to locate FCC type acceptance information.
It does not appear to be FCC approved yet (July 5, 2024).
Nice, so GMRS frequencies are included.

I don't have the equipment either, sorry.

Not yet, but it's on my list. Looks like the phone interface will be easier to use in terms of messaging, etc. Cheers.

what is the latest firmware version ?
Looks like 0.7.11 is newly released. Cheers
Is it possible to program via. CHIRP?
No.
What ever, that was my opinion, and if you don't like it, then move on.
yes you should.
