Great point about adding lubrication to the O rings before installing. My old filter was stuck coming out and the new replacement would not seat and was leaking. I used some Olive oil and it made all the difference. Thanks for the video!
Our water filter seemed to be frozen into place. After watching your video l was almost ready to give up til I pulled out a 12" step stool that put my eye level (I'm 5'3") above the filter. At that height I easily unlocked it by rotating left. I think the problem was that being short, I was putting downward pressure on the filter. I bet nobody over 6' tall has any problem removing these filters. Had same problem trying to put bypass plug into place, same easy fix. Tool required: a step stool.
You were right little one! However, my dilemma now is getting the stupid cover back on. I TRULY HATE KITCHENAID GARGAGE. It came with the house I bought. Horrible appliances.
I had to dissemble the whole upper unit to get to the filter housing - turn off the water supply and disconnect the two water hoses- I was then able tkk on get the whole unit out and take it to my garage. If not handy- get a repair man!
Now you not only have to replace the filter, but the housing as well! I spent hours on this!
