P.S. Like Richard (below) and probably many other subscribers, I would love a walkthrough of your Contender and a bit of discussion of why you chose this particular boat over the many alternatives that might have met your needs.
Hi, Matt. Every once in a while, I allow myself to think about how many big fish (especially broadbill swordfish) I would have caught over the last 60 years if the damned wind hadn't been blowing a gale (or almost). I appreciate your turning this potentially disappointing trip into something that I truly enjoyed. On a fairly unrelated note, for the benefit of all your many international subscribers (like me), would you PLEASE consider "translating" your Australian nicknames for the dozens of species you catch on the channel? Sometimes I can discover the actual species name via a Google search, but other times I come up empty. As a rabid lifetime angler, I really enjoy identifying and learning about ALL fish, whether I have access to them or not. All the best, Chris
Dear Professor , From the expression , “ I’m not trying to teach a monkey how to grimace “ , but ….. even with a butter knife , tackling an oyster from the side , instead of from the top , you (might) be more likely to cut through the tendon/muscle with they use to close their shelves. Same principle as when you open them at home. Always from the side. Dunno , thought I’d mention. Thank you again for the adventures Chris from UK
Matt, Do yourself a favour and try natural oysters with a half a teaspoon of sour cream on them, with some caviar on top and a squeeze of lemon juice. I promise you’ll love it.
I always knew you were a master baitor Matty... ...I'll let myself out now.. Great nanny's and banter mate, when they won't hit the lures no shame in using bait. Whatever gets the bend is your friend.
No real reason why but ive never really used a gaff or net and it hasn't cost me yet haha their called a chinamen fish which on the east coast have a high risk of ciguatera, so their a no take species
Hey mate curious on your deck armour? Looks like the humidity/sun/water has ruined some of it? I've had similar issues with mine as well when Water pooled and the heat baked it.
Your boat is epic it takes you to spot that most can't but I think that might a because you have a massive tanks am I right? Just inquiry do you always use light gear for fun or just to tell everyone that you can catch big fish with light gear??
yeah she hold 550L so I can basically go anywhere I need. honestly these days light rods are as strong as you will ever need. if you fight a fish any harder you tend to come across other issues like pulling hooks while fighting them too hard or having terminal problems
Let's goooo uppa Matty huge fan been watching for age's. Coming up to Whitsundays in September and was wondering if you could take my dad out for his 50th birthday he sadly didn't get the birthday he wanted due to COVID
That's a normal thing U get when U use short rod on spin reel The first ring guide is too close to the rotor and the diameter of the guide is way smaller and it's not aligned with the rotor (the guide is like 3 cm from the rod blank while the rotor is like 10 cm from the rod blank).
Ok you banana benders wtf are you calling nanies for the WA viewers they look like golden snappers to us and we're obviously not getting those beautiful lookin snapper over here .nanagui don't get that big! Some one what are they !
Would love to see a walk through of your boat and kit some time. There’s always something we can take from other peoples set ups.

Matt,
Do yourself a favour and try natural oysters with a half a teaspoon of sour cream on them, with some caviar on top and a squeeze of lemon juice. I promise you’ll love it.
love the oysters! that’s what i do in tasmania when i’m flicking lures haha
Got a feed and had a good adventure for a few days, nothing wrong with a bit of squid pursuit either Matt
amen
Try a few drops of green Tabasco sauce and lime juice on your oysters. Very tasty
Matty the pro float liner from way back
Great video Matt sometimes you have to try different things to get them to bite
I always knew you were a master baitor Matty...
...I'll let myself out now..
Great nanny's and banter mate, when they won't hit the lures no shame in using bait. Whatever gets the bend is your friend.
hahaha bait lord
Just wandering if you ever use a gaft to pull the big fish in? And what is the other name for the fish you call China - you don't keep them?
No real reason why but ive never really used a gaff or net and it hasn't cost me yet haha their called a chinamen fish which on the east coast have a high risk of ciguatera, so their a no take species
@@PelagicPursuit89 thanks for the info - they are beautiful fish.
Good fishing ay. Keep the good videos coming
Do you ever do trolling for Dorado, wahoo, tuna, marlin.
great fishing video, thanks for sharing , good luck my friend.
Grab yourself a wind sock for the gopro mate. Not that bad but they are well worth the $15 or so that they cost mate.
Hey mate curious on your deck armour?
Looks like the humidity/sun/water has ruined some of it?
I've had similar issues with mine as well when Water pooled and the heat baked it.
Oh and do you ever use a sea anchor?
does Bowly not eat fish? also, I'll bet those stretches of bad weather are the reason the fishing is so good up there.
yeah he does but I think I eat a lot more. yeah totally agree about the weather
Are you just wacking the squid on jig heads or bait hooks?
yeah I should have should it. 2oz jig head and drift it down.

this is my full time job mate
@@PelagicPursuit89 do you manage to make your living with 100 000subs. You have sponsors I reckon though.
Another ripper of a video. What sized weight do you run with the squid heads?
it was a 2oz jig head haha
What is that sound of your certate while reeling a fish .
Is that the gears missed up or what ?
That's a normal thing U get when U use short rod on spin reel

@@MRosewood259 so that's the noise of the line slapping to the rod ???
No it's not the line slapping the rod but the rotor kinda struggles to spin itself
Just try to put your big spin reel on a short rod and you'll see.
Great fishing adventure
hopefully you'll be back soon on big banga fishing. This slow jigging stuff is pretty fun to operate, but way less fun to watch
trust me bro I want it as bad as you but this weather is killing me
