Best dogs ever. You missed out one important characteristic though. They eat and are food orientated. Food often takes over the entirety of their brain and thought process. Labradors don't have a "full" setting, just an "eat" setting.
All of this content is correct with one exception. My Chocolate lab Chip was aggressive. I am a disabled Army veteran and Chip became protective of me. As he got older he protected the property, had to put up signs to warn people about him. He never bit anyone but even his vetnarin said when Chip was young he did not trust him %100. He weighed in at 125 lbs and not fat. He many times intimidated delivery people with his size. He had the patience of a saint with children. Chocolate Chip was the best dog that ever lived in my book.

We lost our black lab 5 years ago and I still miss her terribly. She was a sweet dog, loved everyone and never met a stranger. One of the best breeds for an active family, and yes they shed like crazy.
We have a male 5 year old black lab, our second black lab. They’re definitely a handful as puppies, but definitely worth it when they get out of the puppy stage. I can’t describe how awesome these dogs truly are.
You mean the biting lol, chewing, lol,? Just got our 8 week old chocolate lab puppy. Hopefully it's just a puppy phase and she'll grow out of this. We are glad to have her.
I've been around lots of breeds of dogs over my 40+ years and owned quite of few, and there are many really good breeds, but Labs are truly exceptional if not the ultimate breed of dog - they do so much extremely well. They're one of the most perceptive to their human family's needs and will bond very strongly with their people. Labs will readily capture your heart and spoil you to other breeds. Just lost my 14-year old girl last Friday and my house is so empty without her in it.
So sad to hear of your loss, they are OUR KIDS and am sure you share that. In order to honor your dogs memory when its time, find yourself another to help fill that void!
You give your dog part of your heart, in exchange for all of his. If you are lucky, when you leave this world, your heart is all dog. There is a puppy (or senior dog) out there waiting to help fill your house and your heart.
Labradors are literally the most versatile dog on the planet. They can live in the snow and in the jungle tropics, and everywhere in between. They can be loud or you can train them to be quiet. They are great for the rural countryside or can manage well in a city. They are the prototypical dog, man's best friend 💯
Raising our 6th Lab (13 weeks old). Lost a brother and sister to cancer and could not stand emptiness. These guys will fill up your life. Raised shepherds and poodles too but the Lab before is the best family dog.
We’ve had black labradors for years and recently lost our beloved Ruby. Her massive presence is still with us. Each colour has its own characteristics but the black ones are something else. Love all dogs.
We're a family of five and we have one chocolate labrador. When she was a puppy she was so enthusiastic and really a hand full. We wondered if she ever would be a little calmer, now she is 4 years old, she's a little calmer but still very much enthusiastic when she's greeting people or dogs. Often gets the zoomies. She's a family dog and she's so loved. Looking forward to the future with her in our lives. Literally the kindest and most loving dog I met. ❤️
Wife and I have had Lab Lab Mixes for 40 years. They do not think they are people, they know they are people. They only shed twice a year, 6 months in the winter and 6 years in the fall
I love my Labrador.... N all the Labradors. He has changed me a lot ..he loves me unconditionally n I will love him too. I will take care of him and protect him always .
I have a black lab mix,as I write this my dog is at the end of his journey with me, my heart is breaking and my soul is wounded. I'm at his side, because I promised him to be there for him to the end. The time just flew. I find myself watching TH-cam videos on black labs and looking at his pictures. This guy came into my life when everything around me had crumbled down, and he became my best buddy in the whole world. If there is a downside to having a black lab, it's got to be what I am feeling now. I just writing this because I need to get it out of my system. If anyone ever wants to get a black lab or any lab, they are just something special, truly earth bound angels.

beautiful dogs probably the best dog , they are almost human... this video is spot on about them, be gentle to your lab as they are sensitive... absolutely love em!!!
The most comforting characteristic of my labs - I've trusted them completely around everyone they met. They love everyone, and never would hurt a soul. I enjoyed this video and agree with most of it. However, Q, our chocolate lab, was aggressive toward certain dogs. He was also very protective of me and my wife if he sensed someone was moving toward us in a threatening way. These traits didn't come out very often but they were inside him and they were scary. That being said, he was a beautiful dog inside and out. We miss him terribly.
I have had 4 Labradors . I love them there sweet disposition is great. My wife Aunt had a German Shepherd she needed to rehome because she needed to move into a seniors home we volunteered to take her Lab and German Shepard got along beautifully. My also got along with brothernlaws 4 female dogs. She wasn't good with cats though.
I have a 3 yr old Chocolate Labrador and she is a wonderful dog. This video was very positive about the breed and I agree they are great dogs, but I just wanted to share some of my experience of owning of owning a Labrador. First, they want to be with their family/pack. If you plan to not let it live inside the house with you, do not get a Labrador! They will not be happy! Two, they have lots of energy and need daily exercise, whether it be a long walk or playing fetch in a good size back yard, they love to retrieve stuff! Three, they are very loving, but the also need lots of attention from their owners, they are very smart and need daily stimulation, they will constantly bug you until you either walk them or play fetch with them. Four, my current dog is a pure breed, but she has trouble being itchy and scratches herself a lot (a lot of pure breeds have health issues). We buy medicine from the vet for like $70 a month to help her be comfortable, so something to consider. I have owned labs cross bred with other breeds that haven't had any health issues and they have been great dogs! Just maybe something to think on, but be sure if it's a puppy, you know what the other breed is, so you have an idea what you are getting when it grows up. I think, that's it! They are are a great dogs for families, especially if you are active like getting out to hike, go to the park or have a decent sized backyard to play with your dog everyday, one caveat, I should mention, is even if you have a huge backyard, your Labrador won't be happy unless you're out there with them, they need you to interact with them. If you are not committed to play and give lots of attention to them, every day, your Labrador will not be happy and I am sure there's another breed better suited for your lifestyle. One other thing, I thought of is for older folks that need a great companion dog is older Labradors adopted tend to be way more mellow and don't demand as much exercise as the young ones, but they still need to live inside with their people! If you do that, you will have the best/loyal friend/companion ever!!
I.m on my sixth [4 pure and 3 mix]. I'm 75 and i have 5 acres for the two I now have. One is a purebred black and the other is a Labradoodle which I rescued. I would never recommend the Labrador-poodle mix based on my experience. Oh, Fred is a sweetheart, but he's dumber than dirt. I didn't expect that out of a $2,000 dog! BUT, we love him, he belongs to Grandma and my Tank brings me great joy [and any dove or duck that I shoot!]
In a couple of weeks it will be 14 years since y wife and I got 2 8 week old black Labs--sisters from the same litter. We lost my wife Linda's dog Addy 8 years ago to bone cancer of the jaw, and she still mourns her. My girl Roxy is now really getting old. Both her sight and hearing are failing, She doesn't have a mean bone in her body--loves everybody (which is why we chose to get Labs). Fantastic with children--she's been with our 5 year old grandson since his birth, and I've never had the slightest worry when they're together. Also great with our cat (who is a miserable, mentally unstable specimen). Roxy is my best friend, and if I'm ever feeling unloved, all I have to do is look at her and say "hey you" and she proves me wrong. I dread the day I know is not that far off.......
Labradors are the only breed you need. When I am at work I am told my lab Penny is inconsolable. When I get home she comes alive again. The only down side to a Labrador is that they all eventually leave us.
I've had my boy Sligo for 4 years now. I treat him as well as I can, and hope he lives well past standard life expectancy. I can't imagine life without him; I don't want to.
I swore I'd never have one after owning hounds and shepherds. Our hound brought home a little champagne colored lab one day. She had been dumped off, covered in pink paint and glitter and smelt of being a gift that had been dumped on our country road. Now she's 100+ lbs, 8 years later, and she owns our heart. Her best hound-buddy passed 10 months ago. She was 14. It was hard for us all. I recommend labs to anyone that loves the babies. They change your life
Great dogs , had them for 37 years and all have been my best buddy, Boomer a constant companion laying near me right now. Alway wanted a German Shepherd but can't get past a Lab, such great dogs. Difficult to beat in fact can't do better. You want a loyal loving best friend, get a lab.
WOW are lab puppies energetic. My Lab puppy was 80 pounds (all muscle) at 1 year old. He is a mix of Conformation father and American Mother. Tall, Big, Energetic and FUN! This is my first Lab and I am sold on the breed.
Only downside to a lab is how they get underfoot but I love that about my boy. Never loved anything like I love my lab and I will be surprised if I ever will. Saved my life and makes me so full of happiness. Terrified of... You know...
I have a Black Lab / German Sheppard cross. Smartest most beautiful loving loyal dog I ever encountered. She actually sat up on the couch and watched all this video :) She loved it! Best dogs ever! Mix a lab with a Sheppard and if you got a good mix, then you have the ultimate dog.. That's just my experience, many may disagree.. great video
My husband and and I are both retired and we adopted a Lab (Charlotte). We live out in the country where she enjoys long walks and likes to play. She keeps us in shape and I will say that she doesn’t like to stay home by herself but she looks forward to her treat when we return home for being a girl. Labs are the best.
I could not agree more except in this one instance. We were camping in a popular area with our lab Rose. The campground rules specified that dogs were to be on leeches at all times so we did that. Thru the day Rose would go as far as she could and wag her tail for every passers-by to pet her. Then at one point Rose tore out from under the camper like an attacking Shepard just barking and snarling at a woman who was just passing by and minding her own business. We raised Rose from a puppy to the ripe old age of 14 and that was the only time we ever witnessed such behavior.
Great video but I really do think they should warn people about getting English Labradors when you have really small children. Yes, Labs are gentle etc but my female yellow English Daisy turned into a 75 pound bruiser once fully grown and when she's in play mode she can easily send people flying, like a muscular, furry bowling ball sending human bowling pins flying all over the bowling lane. She's my first Lab and I was and still am SHOCKED at her strength. Accidents can happen so you need to be super careful when you're at the dog park if there are stocky English Labs running around. Because they are so playful, in a dog park setting especially I've seen them accidentally body-check adults and even hurt them badly. My own girl Daisy ran right over a kid once like a playful freight train -- thank God the kid wasn't hurt. I don't mean to belabour the point but, in terms of physicality, these dogs are NOT "teddy bears". They are brutally strong! I can't imagine how many human knee surgeries they've been responsible for! (And I'm not talking about poorly-trained Labs that jump up on people or whatever -- no excuse for that and it's not the dog's fault -- I'm talking about a stout English Lab with a case of the zoomies.)
I'm literally watching this video because I'm curious to know if there's other labs that are like my Foster and I own pitbulls so I'm not going to be surprised at very much but this house of pit bulls has nothing on that lab! He is absolutely so strong and even against a dog that was made for fighting he is too strong and he is able to do way too much damage even just defending himself. It's not that he's starting anything but he's the finisher if someone else decides they want to.
We are on our forth lab. Our first was a barrel cheated beauty like the dogs you have shown here. The last three have all been the taller thinner version that is very popular in the USA. More a specialized retriever with a bit more energy and they are more athletic. Making them suitable for upland game hunting. Slower to lose their puppy energy and not as fast to gain weight. In all other ways they are same sweet natured dog. They probably will put on a far better act of being a guard. But its only an act, if the thief enters despite the ferocious warnings. They likely will have a ball placed at their feet. My only warning is that few labs are to be trusted with domestic birds, chicken, ducks, etc. They are not trying to kill them, but the way they play with them will often do that. Other animals I have not seen a problem with, even little kittens are safe.
We have had three purebred black labs as described by you. We say field labs ad opposed to show labs. We give them lots of exercise and they don’t get overweight. Are current one is Mountie and is 6, love him to death!❤️
I have black Lab, I called him Buddy, he is Buddy to every one, old and young and he is my best buddy, hence I praise him as Super Dog. Got him married 3 years ago, his partner gave 13 Puppies! I had the golden boy, named him Benny, he is softy, he took the colour after his Grand dad as he is fox red. The bond between Buddy and Benny is unique, Benny the son learned all the games, jumping high and jumping in the water retrieving balls and sticks, diving. Benny create a game of running chase if we run out of ideas of what to do next. Labradors are friendly, sociable dogs, intelligent and energetic, needs a calm leader Pack , assertive and they like outdoor activities dog lovers.
I love my labs! I had a black lab that passed a year ago and a male champagne lab that’s a year old. My lab now is VERY clingy and I trip over him constantly. He has a mean growl but isn’t a very good guard dog and he is very submissive! Love labs and I trust them!
my labrador is dog aggressive and i dont trust him with toddlers unless im with him, not all labs are friendly in all aspects sometimes. i also have a bully breed and she doesnt have a mean bone in her body. she love babies all the way up to adults. it just depends on any dogs demeanor. my labrador was also socialized
I have always been hunting and breeding chocolate's they are so good . I have one now that when we do waterfowl she just sits on the bank and waits for your command to retrieve she does so well. I love hunting with them and there is times I have guys who can't tell when there dog is getting Birdy and I have shown my boys how to read the dogs. Happy new year.
Anyone looking for a great friend this is the dog for you. It wants to please you, listens really great so happy and loving they truly are amazing! Don't hit it and treat it right learn how to act to have the best dog you could've ever seen....
Labrador: The "Elemental Dog".... Heart of Gold; Stomach of Iron; Head of Stone. They let you know that it is time to give them attention by putting their amazingly heavy chins on your knee. Drawbacks? Prone to arthritis and hip displaysia. I've had a ramp for our 70-pound Lab to get into and out of our SUV for several years... as he can no longer jump up into it. Lab owners will always laugh when you tell people "My dog is NOT spoiled - he does not sleep under the covers with us"
Try to be as loving as a Labrador I bet you can't do it. I wish that people could be like these dogs then everyone would love everyone else. I'm on my 3rd Labrador in my lifetime and they are truly a gift from God.
Apparently my foster dog is the one and only Labrador that you have to be very aware of his power with other dogs and people because he has taken on two pitbulls in my household and easily taken them both. He is apparently one in a million but he is really great when he's great but because I rescued him and I don't know his past there is something going on and sometimes he gets confused and he'll growl and not want us to come near and he defended me from a family member who was in a rage and that bite was said to be the worst single dog bite that Dr. Had seen. Took a chunk out of his calf on the back side and his shin on the front side and he is having skin grafts to help it along... Like I said apparently I have the one and only!
sure, Labs will not guard your possession like German Sheppards do, but can warn you barking on any suspicious movement in surrounding, as they are quite vigilant observers… however different reason here - they are always ready to make new friends and play with, hands down they are most positive and friendly breed out there (only Goldens can match) 😊
I've kept Labs for many years - and I've lived my 75 years loving them.
Ohh can I keep some?
At 76, I´ve had Samantha for almost 12 years.

Food often takes over the entirety of their brain and thought process.
Labradors don't have a "full" setting, just an "eat" setting.
So true…
...and if you have other dogs, the lab tends to steal their food after he's finished with his own.
True. I always say my lab would sell me for food 🤣
They have 2 stomachs, one where you expect and one between the ears that's never full 🤣
That's all in the owner they are not food oriented that's just bad parenting

BUT, we love him, he belongs to Grandma and my Tank brings me great joy [and any dove or duck that I shoot!]
i agree with you,i also have a pure yellow labrador and he itches and scratches all the time...we;ve spent a lot on medicines
For me, they are the best dogs, EVER!
I am jency the labrador puppy 🐶🥰😇
I dread the day I know is not that far off.......
labradours are THE BEST. we are lucky to have them in our lives
They are absolutely beautiful
Love them all 🇦🇺♥️♥️♥️
Absolutely wonderful dogs! I would recommend a Labrador to anyone!
Yes we are 0n our fourth lab in last 25 years. Always consider getting a different breed but can’t bring ourselves to mess with prtfection
The best friend u will ever have!
agreed, 100%
Labradors are the best, truely love them !
I love my beautiful Lab. ❤
me2
We have a Lab/Pointer mix and he's a buster. Loves food more than we do!!🤣
WOW are lab puppies energetic.
You know...
there is no down side to a Lab
I have a Black Lab / German Sheppard cross. Smartest most beautiful loving loyal dog I ever encountered. She actually sat up on the couch and watched all this video :) She loved it! Best dogs ever! Mix a lab with a Sheppard and if you got a good mix, then you have the ultimate dog.. That's just my experience, many may disagree.. great video
I've only had one dog in my life, and it was a black lab. She was super intelligent, fiercely loyal and are the best dogs all around.
I had a black lab we had many and she was the best along with our golden retriever but my heart ❤️ was my lab
Best Dogs Ever!
Best Best and Best Dog...I have ..
The best Dogs ever
I looked over and my lab was watching the video too
Great video but I really do think they should warn people about getting English Labradors when you have really small children.
Seventy-five pounds is too heavy for a female English Lab.
I have 2 labs and adore them!
We use to put our Labrador in the den when we'd leave the house. He taught himself to turn the door knob with his mouth and pull the door open.
Love my boy Gunner best dog ever
Yes! Have one - 15.6-year-old black lab. the Best Dog Ever!
I love my labs! I had a black lab that passed a year ago and a male champagne lab that’s a year old. My lab now is VERY clingy and I trip over him constantly. He has a mean growl but isn’t a very good guard dog and he is very submissive! Love labs and I trust them!
My chocolate lab is the joy of my life.
my labrador is dog aggressive and i dont trust him with toddlers unless im with him, not all labs are friendly in all aspects sometimes. i also have a bully breed and she doesnt have a mean bone in her body. she love babies all the way up to adults. it just depends on any dogs demeanor. my labrador was also socialized
On my third lab now. Had two black labs, Storm and Lucy, now got a chocolate called Coco. She's coming on nicely
I have a 5yr old black and can't wait to add another!
They are angeles on Earth.
LOVE MY BLACK LABS!
i love labrador mix golden😍
Labs are the best!
labs are the only dog i will own.
I am jency the labrador puppy
😍🥰🐶
The
Only negative I have is their shedding. Otherwise, they are the best.
I love my Labrador🥰😘❤❤
My lab is 💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💖💖💖💝💝💝💞💞💞💞💗💗💗
There excellent hunting dogs. Waterfowl and upland game birds. I love the chocolate labs.
We have had Labs for years. I say, “There are Labs and all other dogs.”
My Coco to this day, I miss her sooo much! She was the child I never had. My chocolate lab was the best to me. I miss you Coco always.
Mine has terrible separation anxiety if I leave she shakes and cries if I attempt to leave her. ❤
Love my Labs 🥰
I luv my two labs male/female they are a handful I hope they calm down with age
What's with all the footage from Siberia?
The video created in Russia :)
sure, Labs will not guard your possession like German Sheppards do, but can warn you barking on any suspicious movement in surrounding, as they are quite vigilant observers… however different reason here - they are always ready to make new friends and play with, hands down they are most positive and friendly breed out there (only Goldens can match) 😊
Got a lab 1 year ago, couldn't help myself, got another lab a month ago. Just needed 2, one wasn't enough.
