That Monte Carlo stage was hypnotizing, I couldn’t keep my eyes off the screen 🤩 Especially towards the end, that landscape with the mountains at the horizon is absolutely stunning. The sound is superb, really really good. On the physics it does look just a bit too forgiving at times but the snappiness is definitely a step in the right direction and Kalle seemed quite at home with it in his preview.
Yeah it might seem smooth from the onboard footage but the reason for that is the proper workout I had keeping the car in line as you can see when watching me behind the wheel. 😅
I don't know what you're talking about, but Monte Carlo in Dirt Rally 2.0 or WRC generations is more atmospheric. Overall, the graphics in this game are average, it has nothing to do with the new generation of consoles. PS4 can handle such graphics without any problems, but they decided not to do it because Unreal optimization is terrible and has always been like that. on rtx 4090 on ultra you can apparently dream in 4k so that means it's terrible
@@mrbeckham666 Oh, another graphics whiner. We're getting 18 locations with 600 unique km nearly ALL at once. Plus, four seasons and a ton of conditions. There is a trade-off somewhere. You want long rallies and heaps of them? Maybe some less detail then. Stop comparing Monte Carlo from old dirt games when that was just recycled from Dirt rally 1, and the stages were much shorter. They only had to prep those stages for the snow look. They had a VERY baked look and only a few different conditons to race in. RBR still goes hard and that's 20 years old, if the gameplay and driving is good then these graphics are fine, they will improve over time. Some stages and conditions look great, others not so much. You will barely notice when driving. Also, DR2.0 had that disgusting distance fogging and excessive bloom.
There is too much bland repetition visible in this game. Too many re-used assets. If they couldn't do properly detailed long stages they should have stuck with the shorter ones but striven to be interesting and detailed like WRCG. Yes, you can still be detailed and convincing if you are aiming to recreate real stages, it's not a prescription for shortcuts in graphics and boringness@@msum23
Firstly congrats on getting the early access, it’s thoroughly deserved. I have pre-ordered this title off the back of watching your previous EA WRC videos over the last few weeks and I’m sure many others have as well. Secondly, excellent driving! Very very impressive. That Sparco R 383 wheel is excellent for rallying, I used to own one back in my Thrustmaster days, then moved to Fanatec and now I’m with Simagic. I’m seriously looking forward to this title, although the visuals are not final it still looks stunning, I’m a sucker for good graphics. But more importantly it’s good to know the physics and ffb are also on point. Brilliant video as usual, keep up the great work buddy 👊🏻
Thanks mate! Appreciate the compliments! That Sparco wheel is indeed perfect for it. At some point I'll upgrade my wheel and pedals as well but the budget doesn't allow that at the moment. And yes, I myself was very impressed with what they designed in regards to the physics and FFB.
I'm glad to see you got access to this early build, I think you deserve it. You were the person that held out hope the longest for a DR3, but it wasn't to be, so I know you've waited a long time for this game, it was cool to hear the game has you grimming for ear, to ear. I look forward to seeing more of this game from you.
Best prereview out there and pretty sure iv'e seen them all by now haha. Subbed and hoping there's gonna be more wrc content coming bc you know how to handle a rally car. Respect.
Thanks mate! Truly appreciate the compliment and support! And yes, there is more EA Sports WRC content coming later this week, one of which will focus on the gravel side of things.
Great analysis on the game physics. I think the community will appreciate that! And wow.. the second half of that stage looks super sick too! I only tried the first half of that stage.
I really love your impressions. You can point out things, i didnt even think about. You are someone, who knows. what he talks about. I love that. Thank for these.
Congrats on joining the EA Creator Network Sim. And not before time (even if it is before launch). Well deserved imo as your videos are incisive and comprehensive as well as having a soundtrack which can only be described as downright saxy.
Nice to see you in here, mate! Glad I could be of service. Haha Glad that your findings are similar to mine after trying it yourself. It is properly good to be honest. I suspect people will be thoroughly impressed by what they get, at least when it comes to the driving-side of things.
I made the preorder. From all videos it looks really promising. :) I don't expect RBR NGP level physics anyway. But I will definitely watch your gravel video as well. :)
I will also add that in my opinion the WRC class on asphalt has the best course, unfortunately the WRC class has such good traction that it looks unreal even in real life. and that's what most people don't understand. see how the brakes work in the WRC class on asphalt. this just goes to show that these cars have nothing to do with what most people drive to work every day.
It looks unreal compared to real life because *it is.* What people don't understand is that _every_ car in this game, not just the Rally1 class, has too much grip. People insist with the idea that the real Rally1 cars are extremely grippy - they are, but WAY less than in this game. They also insist with the "enormous" downforce they produce. They don't have any enormous downforce. They produce even less downforce than the 2017-2021 regulation of WRC cars, and this is the most grip you can get out of those machines: th-cam.com/video/7Gj7VuZr968/w-d-xo.html. You saw it by yourself. They are way less grippy, far slower, far more unforgiving than in that game. The external footage in the replays highlights the extremely high grip, and the very-off way in which the car moves over the road. It's of course better than previous WRC and Dirt Rally games.
Okay, now the hype is real. I don't really trust a lot of other previewers who are just hype trains or aren't passionate about rally. You know your stuff (much more than me and most others here)... so if you're praising it like this, I think I'll love it. So many complaints about graphics and 'boring' stages and stuff but man... I think it looks great and a good replica of real rally. Too many people want bells and whistles and flashy stuff you don't even notice when driving. I'll take the super long stages and seasons/conditions any day! Massive difference between watching a compressed youtube vid vs actually playing it on your own rig.
Well, eventhough I clearly state that there are performance issues because the preview game build hasn't been optimised yet, people still complain about it. Also about the graphics in general. I think it's perfectly fine. People expect the most insane graphics because it's on next gen consoles only but they need to understand one thing... The reason for that decision is because they can't make the massive locations run smoothly on those previous gen consoles. Those can't cope with it. The stages themselves are such fun! They have pushed WRC Generation's stage design off its pedestal. The driving experience is absolutely spot on as well, not just on tarmac but also gravel. The details and nuances they've worked in there are amazing. I'll get into that in my next video later this week.
It is proper fun. Might not be as realistic in certain areas as people would like but it's an incredible experience. Best rally title I've seen and played in many many years from a driving perspective.
Its about time EA!! This man should have been the 1st person to receive a copy!! Awesome first impressions video on the preview build pal. So far, even though it is a preview build, the main common theme is that this game has people grinning from ear to ear when they play it! There has to constructive critism when looking at the game but by the looks of things the negative aspects are few and far between and are greatly outweighed by the positives. From what I have seen the biggest negative for me is the crashes are way too forgiving. But thankfully the cure for that is not to crash😉. Awseome video man. cant wait for the next one🙂👊
Haha thanks mate! Truly appreciate that compliment. The positives really do outweigh the negatives by a mile when it comes to the actual driving-side of things. There's a lot more goodness coming regarding gravel too. There are other game features which do need some work though but that's less important in my book anyway.
Ah that is great news! I'm extra hyped for this now. I couldn't agree more about the extra features. The main thing I will be doing is just jumping into different cars and trying to improve on all the different stages 👍
well deserved early access build Sim - keep up the good work! 🎉 I'm getting more positive each time I hear the handling is spot on and can't wait to test it out myself. the only concern is my hardware at this point and I'm really hoping to see DLSS implementation so I won't have to struggle too much before playing with the screenshots again! 😅
As a rally fan, and recently getting into sim racing, this is a channel I definitely want to be following :D I'm currently still playing RBR and Dirt 2 on an old Nvidia Gtx 970. I might be picking up a 2070 Super for this game, I've seen a few go for around 200 euros second-hand.
I'd go that route if I were you. I had a GTX970 before as well and it's so amazing to have the 2070 Super. €200 is a nice deal as well. I got lucky as it was my brother's GPU and he upgraded again. I didn't want to let his 2070 Super go to waste. Built the rest of the new PC around that GPU.
@@SimsRacingDesignalso have a GTX2070 and I was worried it wouldn't be able to keep up with the new WRC so I was worried. What resolution are you running and are you getting decent FPS ? Thanks.
2560x1440 is the resolution. There were some performance issues here and there but that's because the preview game build wasn't optimised in all aspect. Will be sorted out by launch.
Cool! Thanks for the info ^^ would be a shame indeed to let that 2070 go! I'm currently talking with someone selling one for 180 euros. I'll have to look for another monitor too if I want to use 144hz refresh rate. My current one only supports that through DVI.
Stella driving sim! Great first impression. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that thinks this game is actually very good. It's so good to drive on asphalt now isn't it?
@RallyTechnical Nice to See you here, your stuff to WRC23 is also great, I saw all of your WRC23 content, was so brillant 👍👌🥰!!! Everybody had to Watch your Vids about WRC 23👍👌!!
Hey! Glad to see you in here! Thanks for the compliment! Driving on tarmac in this game is heavenly! I've been waiting for a game that does it like this for soooooo many years. And I can't wait to go even quicker with one your setups because they've always suited me perfectly. Haha
Good for you EA recognized you deserved early access. FINALLY, someone who plays no pace notes on the screen. It's very demanding in terms of concentration but surely it's much better regarding the immersion. Cheers 👌👌
Thanks mate! Appreciate the compliment as well as the support. And yes, I prefer my HUD/OSD to be completely off, except for the timer perhaps. All these things are very distracting for someone with ADD.
Irl drivers say rally cars have insane grip so i'm going to assume this game got it perfectly. Even if its not realistic at this point I don't care this game looks way too fun. Can agree with game being too forgiving for cutting corners, wrc drivers are always scared of punctures when going of road, maybe we can hope for truly hardcore mode or something.
They can't go insane with damage for example due to licensing. Manufacturers and such don't want to see their cars smashed up completely each time you go off the road.
@@SimsRacingDesign There's builder mode, maybe only with custom cars? Things like this makes me wish people didn't care about licensed stuff, Toyota logo doesn't really make the game that much better does it? Doubt they collaborated with devs to make the car handle more realistic, probably at best provided the car for 3d scan or smh.
great video, finally someone speaking about the liveries and the music :-) i always thought dirt games had some of the best ever music and can`t wait what the music in the new game will be.
Thanks mate. The footage makes it look nice and smooth, and appears easy but once you look at my wheel inputs, you'll see there was a lot of work I had to do to keep it in line. 😁
Finally someone (you) actually drives the stage listening to the navigator instead of non-stop shouting, screaming and talking through the pacenotes overshooting every call and not linking any corners. Nice review, man. And just by watching the ride (not your drive, but how the game looks like) I am not convinced much (yes, RBR fanboy :D). I would love to see some RWD and FWD car, too.
@@SimsRacingDesign Comparing with which RBR physics B)? Last NGP with updated ffb rate on some last-gen stages like Valstagna, Biskupice or that polish hell feels incredibly spot on to me.
@@SimsRacingDesign OK sir, you got my attention now. Just need damn VR working with EA WRC... and preferably not being DLC sold separately for each eye, too. By the way, RSF RBR went quite long way since then again. Working car dashboards! I mean...the models themselves, not overlays.
PC VR will come post-launch in a free update so you're safe. Haha Ever since I put together my new gaming PC, I haven't had the time or will to install RBR again. And now that EA Sports WRC is the way it is, I don't think I'll get to RBR again for a very long time.
Good job , especially on bribing / begging / blackmailing EA to let you have a review copy. :) Audio sounded exceptionally deep and immersive . ( Began to feel sorry for the diffs ) Graphics have seemingly moved up a notch . Overheating tyres would certainly make you think as to when to push .. Which adds a bit of extra dimension to tyre wear ( fingers crossed) On your wanderings through the menus did you happen to see any UDP telemetry toggle ? or is it under the NDA. Hope you are having fun . Keep the footage flowing bud.. Many thanks
I didn't exactly beg, bribe or blackmail anyone. There were some people that believed I deserved a shot at it and made it happen. Absolutely brilliant of them. Unfortunately I don't know as I didn't exactly pay attention to it. Sorry.
@@SimsRacingDesign You inclusion into the reviewrs circle was /is well deserved .. And your analysyis is great .. so a win win for every one who watches . Thanks again. not a problem about not seeing telemetry . .. Its only a couple of weeks to go afterall .
can't wait to know more about the driving feel. I'm so hyped after viewing this stage, it looks so realistic and funny, compared to the DR2 stages which all look and feel the same
I'm glad you're sayin its not Rally on ice like Dirt Rally 2. I enjoyed everythin but the grip in that game, basically it was like drivin on slicks on frozen mud... but on every track
How come? The grip levels in Dirt Rally were always beyond too high. This is what frozen mud with slicks drives like: th-cam.com/video/cOmlb4QquQ0/w-d-xo.html at 1:53.
@@SimsRacingDesignhow about lock items ea is terrible on that and it's still using 2.0 engine and so far no one has mention any major improvement on the physics like there is no tire advance simulation or even the environment changing.
@@Sherlock245 It's not using the DR2.0 engine, its using unreal engine 5 (its in a lot of the promotional material). From what I gather the tarmac physics have seen the biggeset improvement, echoing what Sim said. Although the Gravel physics have seen some improvements as well (don't have a copy myself, just going off of youtuber opinions here). The environment does change, although I haven't seen any weather changes throughout the stage. The locations (don't know if all of them) have different seasons to pick from, so you can do monte in the summer with clean tarmac roads, or in the snow with ice all around. I've also seen Finland with snow in a Jimmy Broadbent stream. In terms of monetization I've got no idea, but as you've said yourself, EA being involved doesn't make me very hopeful.
@@TheRadiag it's official confirmed it's using the dirt 2.0 engine and moved into unreal 5. And adjusted, but ea never gone Into what has majorly change. I suspect it's the same with only enhancement. The only major thing change is bigger maps more mode all focus on the casual player. That why ea do not real critics to examine their game. THEY want the highest sale on release!! The same thing they did with other sport game. Have you question why codemaster under ea have never shown any trailer about the physics?? Look at motorsports even That is far better in the physics. Yes ea has lost million on million in money over their money hunger tactics. They also been under several lawsuit. I won't buy it at full price cause they will reduce it later on. I did see proof that some track are lock for ea play subscriber. If there anything lock behind money to be unlock very clesr sign they are doing it again. 😔 Play automoblista 2 they have real dirt rally in their game or stick with previous dirt rally games. Even better play FORZA MOTORSPORTS
in my opinion there is something wrong with rbr fans. for them, a more difficult game is more realistic. I compared how cars behave in the WRC class on sand. in RBR cars float too much. people have no idea how well WRC class cars hold the road, how agile they are, how quickly they respond to the steering wheel. after all, all this can be seen live on onboard. I don't understand most people in the world, they have some made up theories on various topics and they can't compare something objectively.
I think a tricky thing is that the hardcore biased RBR fans fail to relealize that inherently the game HAS to be made for both the sim racer and casual player alike, a full crazy level sim is just not a realistically profitable venture, as much as id love it myself. There are plenty of amazing and great RBR fans, but plenty of bad seeds that overshadow the rest.
@@AmbientMike what you are saying is of course true. but my opinion is that rbr is exaggerated. In my opinion, the WRC class floats too much. I often watch WRC live onboard and mastering a WRC car is not as difficult as this game shows.
Yeah, I know its still highly rated by some rally drivers, Nykolai Gryazin a big advocate. I do agree that there is some characteristics that are still off that many arent willing to admit though. @@mrbeckham666
@@mrbeckham666 No, they don't float too much. It just happens that you can't drive them. And here's the thing: it infuriates me immeasurably when people have the balls to compare themselves against world-class WRC drivers. Why do the live WRC onboards look grippy? Maybe it's because, I repeat, THEY ARE WORLD-CLASS DRIVERS with massive skills that can do things you can't? That's exactly right! Look at this: th-cam.com/video/F3DmBmaaxSc/w-d-xo.html. Look how it holds; how agile it is; how it responds to my inputs. That looks exactly like real life. It just happens that I truly watched and still watch countless amounts of real WRC onboards, analyze them, and try to get better by learning from the masters, the WRC drivers. Maybe you have to do the same thing instead of just watching them over the top. The real WRC cars are AS HARD as RBR pictures them, and even more, because in the game we don't have the constant grip changes and surface details that they DO have in real life. This is exactly why they have flamboyant styles in real life, for example shaking the cars under braking to feel the grip levels. In RBR, and in any other simcade nor simulator, that's not needed at all. Please, mate, let's give the WRC drivers the credit they deserve. The cars are not as easy as in this EA WRC 2023 game. The drivers are just on another league and can handle the more difficult behaviours. Period!
@@zwjna I talked to a rally driver. he said that rbr is very exaggerated Rally 1 is not as hard to drive as in this game. the car has ridiculous grip on gravel there. rbr is nice in other car classes but Rally 1 is completely screwed up but that's just one driver's opinion, you don't have to agree with it. The biggest disadvantage of Rally 1 in rbr is the slow response of the steering system. and how exaggerated the damage model is. you hit a light car and the car doesn't start, where in real life the driver can roll over, hit a tree, lose a wheel and keep driving, and when you watch it you are surprised that the driver is alive
Sounds good. The vast majority of us don't care about 'real life' as this isn't 'real life', it's a game. There is never going to be a way to make playing a game seem like real life, so I'm only interested in a fun game that creates enough challenge that I keep coming back.
Thanks mate! It was a proper workout. And that's only on a 16km tarmac stage. I'm already worried for my health if I have to drive a 30 km gravel stage with max degradation. That'll be brutal to put it lightly. Haha
@@SimsRacingDesign Mine collapsed mid race on me and sent me flying back to a laying down position, about 3 months ago. Was quite a shock lol At the time, I was just looking at getting a HF-8 haptic feedback pad for my seat and had just heard how much better they are with less cussion. So I bought a polyeurathane molded seat that you buy for a beach buggy or an old 4x4. Dead cheap, totally solid and with the haptic pad it's still comfee, and the vibrations are epic.
One of the three straps underneath the seat has already snapped so it's slightly less comfortable to sit in. I don't really have a budget to invest in a new seat at the moment. Still recovering from the massive investment I made to put a brand new gaming PC together as well as a new monitor.
What's the tyre management like? It doesn't seem as in-depth as it was in the previous WRC titles where you even could put different types of tyres on different wheels at the same time and had to manage your set of tyres throughout a single rally event.
You were one of the few people I was waiting to listen an opinion. I like your deep analyses and the way you judge things. For me - I 've seen many videos, I have not played the game - is a big no... the grip is way too much, both on gravel and tarmac. We see players who are not very familiar with sim racing generally who they drive pretty easily in every surfaces with different conditions. The game look more casual for big sales, unfortunately. We needed a more sim like RBR, with more complicated, detailed physics, not easier and more simplificated than Dirt rally 2.0. I am dissapointed from what I 've seen so far.
You should really have a go yourself when it's out and you will be properly surprised by how good it is. It feels far more natural than it ever did in the past. Doesn't mean it's more arcadish by any means
I know its a difference between watching a video and actually playing it, but from all the footage it still seems like the tarmac physics will be bad. The car is floating above the surface and the movement does not seem realistic. Maybe on gamepad and on thrustmaster/logitech wheels it will be fun, but i fear that on better direct drive wheels the tarmac will be as bad or almost as bad as DR2. I sincerely hope the game will prove me wrong and i will be happy, but i am not very optimistic about it. Thanks for the video anyway and have fun.
I'm convinced the game will prove you wrong. Haha The TV replays do look a bit odd though I must admit but when you are driving, it feel properly good. I've been told by people who have a direct drive wheel that they were impressed by the FFB compared to what they were used to from DR2.0.
Seems like these stages are gonna be harder to learn by heart despite getting cut up, reversed and reused. It's a good thing that every pace note will be crucial, even if you've driven it many times. I hope there is (or will be) the option to control the car after the finish line, I don't think I've seen it anywhere so far. Having to slow down and stop at the time control added a great bit of immersion in DR2.0.
Tarmac looks like it's going to be very forgiving but i expected it would be from their official gameplay where the car is completely gripped up in a winter setting. It was one of the things i liked about WRC Generations, hairpins were a bit trickier, you could easily half spin when being overly aggressive. Still it's an improvement and i'm not expecting this game to be a full on simulator
It might look forgiving from the ingame footage but watch how much I'm wrestling the wheel to keep it in line. It's not as forgiving as you might think. 😉
@@SimsRacingDesign yeah i see in some sections but that looks more down to the stage than the actual physics. Looks pretty smooth sailing without fast changes in elevation
Hey man... nice driving out there... just wanna point out some key things about this game... one thing that nobody has pointed out is that it has a better sense of speed than DR 2.0... cars in Dirt Rally 2 make you feel like you're going faster than you're going... I was playing a weekly with the old FWD Peugeot and somehow the screen was moving faster sometimes than yours was with a Rally 1 monster... which makes no sense for a tiny little car of the 70s... in this new WRC game when you're going 100kph, it feels like 100kph... in DR2 it feels more like 120-130... and going 160 in DR2 feels like 200 in real life... or at least I have this feeling after watching a lot of this WRC previews and also playing Dirt Rally yesterday... I might be mistaken, but it feels like WRC doesn't make you feel like everything is going by ultra fast even when you're driving the big monsters... Apart from that, so happy that the tarmac physics are a true simulation finally... most if all not rally games always mess this up... you should have also played a gravel stage though... maybe one in rain with nice big stage degradation to make it super nasty.... Finally the other thing I like seeing is that the cars snapping at your steering inputs... especially modern cars that have a lot of grip shouldn't be losing grip easily and should be extremely responsive... maybe I'll finally learn to power slide properly like a true rally racer with this game's realistic grip and controlled sliding and not have to settle for the all time classic slides of the mere mortals/everyday players that we slide the car but always have to correct it and lose time... Really really can't wait for this game... when this comes out I can't even think of a reason to play anything else... which says a lot cause my PC contains almost 2TB worth of the best modern games out there... 😁😁😁
The sense of speed is indeed more natural. I'll be release two more videos later this week, each of them being on gravel. 😉 It's quite the workout when you push the cars. It might seem easy from the ingame footage but when you see me constantly wrestling with the wheel, you can see that it takes some effort. 😁
@@SimsRacingDesign I hope you did one with stage degradation... I saw a run in Kenya with full stage degradation and it was nuts... seemed so challenging... this game is gonna be something else man... really hyped... soooo hyped... for multiplayer too... having great rally lobbies with 30-150 people across multiple categories... that would be the dream... but even having good player created championships where lots of people complete all kinds of different car classes is amazing already... I personally didn't like the DR 2.0 way that was the whole community in the same monthlies... it's more personal when it's less people and more of a rivalry when you're trying to pass that one damn guy that is in front of you... hahaha Really excited for your next vids as well 😃
Wow! Great driving! I started following your channel since EA Sports WRC is announced. Keep up the good work! I was wondering if you know the Logitech G923 will be supported on PlayStation 5? I really hope so, because this game looks really fun!
Thanks mate! Truly appreciate that! I can't say for sure because they haven't released a peripheral supported list but I would be completely shocked if it wasn't.
I've just had a thought. Downforce. Maybe that's why the WRC Rally1 cars seem to have "too much" grip and or it seems forgiving? Could you compare the sensation with WRC cars of an earlier generation? What about the Hybrid deployment? Would that increase or reduce grip as per deployment style? Just a thought.
There is a significant difference between the Rally1 (+ WRC 2017-2021) cars and other car classes because of those massive aero packages. It's very noticeable.
Great video, and the first serious analysis of the game. I know you hate WRCG but that thing had some serious weight, momentum and weight transfer. Does this improve on that? Or compared to 2.0, is it just plain more realistic? 2.0 feels dated now for lack of momentum on high speed corners. It's too easy to turn in at the last second with snap oversteer and that magic handbrake button which gives an instant perfect slide.
Actually you might want to break out Generations again for comparison, as they tightened up the grip levels in a patch somewhere along the post-relase. Seriously, for all its flaws, it would make for a fascinating comparison with EA WRC in your hands, especially since it was the previous WRC title...@@SimsRacingDesign
I can't handle all the things that bug me about that game, I'm sorry. There are things like the audio (as well as other elements) that I just can't take as it breaks my immersion instantly and I get annoyed very quickly.
It's looks like stuck to the asphalt at the exit from the hairpins, second gear full throttle at exit and not even tiny slide? But otherwise it looks ok. Engine sounds great Im excited as hell :d
The game looks great but I just find it odd that when you see the chasecam footsge of the game the car looks kinda floaty, but while actually driving it seems to be the opposite with you getting grip like you should. Not a huge problem because they can probably tweak that later.
Yeah, that's something I find weird as well. 😅 It feels really good when you drive, especially in cockpit or bonnet view but when looking at the replay it looks off.
the game looks so promising i am really exited for 31st Oct. I hope the livery creator gets some mroe improvement, from what I've seen we aaren't able tto import Decals or Designs, are we?
Yeah, there are still a number of issues. More than just importing decals or designs. Just hope someone figures out a way for people like me to design custom liveries in Illustrator/Photoshop.
yeah also hope that we can still do it in a photo editing perogramm. In ACC wich also runs on Unreal Engine it was possible to do that, btu thaat unfortunatly doesn't mean that it will be possiblein EA wrc
Yeah, it is very stable but that's normal for these Rally1 cars on tarmac. If you watch onboard footage of the real cars, you'll see the same thing more or less.
You have the 2020 Ford Fiesta WRC and the 2017 VW Polo R WRC which never competed due to VW pulling the plug on their WRC programme after the whole emmision situation.
The only preview video anyone needs to pay attention to… This stage has got everything needed to make Monte from DR2.0 perfect - in a realistic world. How does Oceania compare to New Zealand in DR2.0? The only thing that I keep seeing that annoys me slightly is the fact that after you cross the line in time trial mode the default seems to be the car bloody crashes into the scenery!
From what I've seen, they've fixed the gravel colour (before it was a shade of yellow now it is the correct grey), and the stages have much faster corners instead of the twisty sections with long straights on between. If you want a similar experience to New Zealand in DiRT Rally 2.0, Indeonesia is very similar but a lot more undulating.
Wow! Thanks for that compliment! Really appreciate it! I wasn't able to get into Oceania too much. Only did a couple of kilometres. Not enough to give you an honest view of it. Yeah that annoys me a bit as well. I would prefer to drive up to the time control as you do in championship and career mode.
@@potatogirlcultist19 I guess that’s a seasonal thing - if you run Rally NZ in the heat of summer I guess it does look that colour 😅 I’ve seen only one video of Oceania so far, it looked good still, but it was only a short stage
@@SimsRacingDesign I think it will be my new first choice of location to try now. Before it was Chile but confirmation of NZ when they released the stage names changed all that!
I actually prefer Chile over Oceania (even though I only did a few kilometres). Personally, I'm a stickler for tight and technical stages. Chile has that in spades.
lol, that part of gras on the road. but driving looks great. really will loose out now with a gamepad. Def need to check for a wheel. even just to train for my real racing, rx and possible rally.
Depends on your budget. I'm very happy with my TS-PC Racer to be honest which should work for PS5 as well. I don't exactly have a massive budget to spend on wheels etc. I use mine until it breaks and I have no other choice than to buy a new one. Haha
I applied for it on August 25th. However, due to my work as a designer (liveries), TH-camr, a high level DR2.0 eSports competitor and my engagement in the community for over 5 years, has had a massive influence on their decision to eventually accept me. I know others (not necessarily DR2.0 or EA Sports WRC creators) waited months and months before their application was approved. You can always apply and hope you eventually get approved. If you do that now and continue creating content etc. you'll get in. Perhaps with the next game after this, you'll have acquired access as well.
@SimVansevenant I applied maybe a month or more ago if I remember correctly. It makes sense why you would have more pull in this area. Seems that was the main criteria to get access. I don't fault then for it, it's more of a controlled environment for promotional reasons.
That's not the main criteria at all to get in, my friend. I didn't pull any strings or ask anyone to push me ahead of others. Jon Armstrong, for example, asked around about why I didn't have access, without my knowledge. He and others did that out of their own valition. That's because of what I've done over the years. Just did things for the community without ever really asking anything in return, to be honest.
Can't really give you a response as the preview game build still had to undergo lots of performance optimisation. It was already pretty good though so it should be sorted out by the time it releases.
Wheel rotation is at 540°. FFB ingame is all maxed out at 150, except for collision and something else. The self alligning torque I put at 115 I think. The wheel FFB settings are all maxed out.
@@SimsRacingDesign I like that you don't don't sugarcoat, or fanboi. You judge a game in the context of it's target market. Keep doing that. If I hear one more 'its not RBR so it's not a sim' I'll scream! RBR isn't a game and my equipment doesn't do it justice.
I'm always trying to remain objective and give you my honest opinions. If it was bad, I'd tell you regardless of my relationship with certain people connected to the game. They've always appreciated that approach as well. It keeps them focused and gets them feedback to take along for future developments.
You know what I think the main problem with these "big" games is. Forza, GT, all EA/Codemasters stuff.... they want to make them as accessible as possible (i.e sell maximum amounts of copies). So they have to make it playable on a controller. Same with Codemasters / EA F1 series. The presentation, graphics, amazing. But the actual driving is very lackluster. RBR, ACC, Assetto Corsa, iRacing, rF2 and even Automobilista 1/2 have been designed ONLY to play with the wheel. That's why the driving physics are so much ahead. But those are SMALL games compared to anything EA puts out. Sure they're getting more popular but still selling numbers are low because they're directed only at the real hardcore driving enthusiasts. I just wonder would it be too big of a task to create two different physics... one for the wheel and one for the controller. I don't believe that these huge, rich companies don't have the _ability_ to create good FFB and physics. They just don't want to do that.
@@SimsRacingDesignyeah true I'm not a social media guy I just sim a ton lol I hope all my gear will work out of the gate. Thanks for keeping us in the loop
Yes, it is. If it's not high enough, all the sound jumble together and my brain can't filter out the co-driver. When I adjust the volume for the car audio and the co-driver, I'm able to hear him clearly and can actually understand him. ;)
I believe English is the only one with male and female variations. Could be wrong though as I haven't checked it out. You do have French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and one or two others as well (I think).
@@SimsRacingDesign ok. thanks for the answer. The German co-driver I've heard so far is a bit too quiet for me personally compared to Tanja in Dirt Rally 2. Maybe I'll switch to an English-speaking passenger then
Ooooh wait! I might have read that a bit to quickly! Does he have an Xbox One or an Xbox Series S? It won't work on an Xbox One. The game is only for next gen consoles such as the Xbox Series X or S and PlayStation5.
@@SimsRacingDesign Found out yesterday afternoon its not compatible for the older Xbox One S and your correct only next gen, same as the new Forza, next gen only.. They want all console users to upgrade to next gen now don't they..
No that's not the reason for this one. They designed massive locations/environment and the older consoles can't run those properly. People wouldn't be able to play because of the many performance issues caused by the limitations of the older consoles. That's why they decided to go next gen only. 😉
I know two people that have driven one whom I talk to from time to time, namely Oliver Solberg and Grégoire Munster. And yes, those cars do have tons of grip and are this agile which is the result of the massive downforce created by their aero packages.
@@SimsRacingDesign that's why I think codemasters did it right. In my opinion, in RBR with Rally 1, Group B is too tight :) there, the cars fly as if they had bald tires.
@@mrbeckham666 I think they are actually pretty spot on. Not sure if you watched my recent video. Just think it has an issue with torque based slip in slow speed corners or when you use the handbrake and throttle out of a corner.
One of the best video analysis of EA WRC on TH-cam! Keep pushing mate
Will do! Thanks for the compliment and support.
I couldnt agree more.
@@SimsRacingDesign
Good driving mate really looking forward to trying it myself!
Yes, you can still be detailed and convincing if you are aiming to recreate real stages, it's not a prescription for shortcuts in graphics and boringness@@msum23
ayy glad to see you got a copy, well deserved!
Thanks mate! A bit late to the party so had a lot of catching up to do. 😁
Thank God someone who actually knows rally sim racing got a copy. This is the firat proper feedback I've seen on this game. Thank you.
You are very welcome. And thanks mate! Appreciate the compliment and support.
Thanks mate! Appreciate the compliment and support! 😁
Thanks ea for giving sim a copy to preview. 🎉 Can't wait to play this on the 31st. Gonna watch this properly tomorrow
Hope you enjoy it.
Thanks mate! Appreciate the compliment.
The second half is a lot of fun for sure. 😁
I really love your impressions. You can point out things, i didnt even think about. You are someone, who knows. what he talks about. I love that. Thank for these.
Thanks mate! Appreciate the compliment. 😁
Congrats on joining the EA Creator Network Sim. And not before time (even if it is before launch). Well deserved imo as your videos are incisive and comprehensive as well as having a soundtrack which can only be described as downright saxy.
Haha thanks mate! Appreciate the compliment and support! 😁
Great job, man. So much of what you said really correlated with my own experience, but you had the means to really describe what I was feeling. :D
Nice to see you in here, mate! Glad I could be of service. Haha
Glad that your findings are similar to mine after trying it yourself.
It is properly good to be honest. I suspect people will be thoroughly impressed by what they get, at least when it comes to the driving-side of things.
Merci Simon de nous avoir partager ton ressenti . Il est important toi qui a une grande expérience. Hâte cette fois
You and Jimmy Broadbent almost convinced me to preorder :)
I will wait for your gravel review :) This all sounds really promising!
Should be out by the end of the week or weekend.
@@SimsRacingDesignThank you :))
If it is at least as good as DR2.0, I will probably preorder :)
It's way better than DR2.0, from a driver's perspective and as a whole experience.
You are absolutely correct!
@@zwjna Of course, I certainly wouldn't call it ideal. Generally speaking, I honestly mean that RBR is exaggerated in the other direction
My hype just keeps building! Great content btw Sim, only discovered your channel recently great work
Thanks mate! Appreciate the compliment and support!
Great driving!! Can’t contain my excitement now, codemasters have once again pushed the bar for rally games
Thanks mate! And yes, they really have pushed to bar to a whole new level! Actually, they jumped several levels.
Brilliant driving mate, very much looking forward to this game!
The main thing I will be doing is just jumping into different cars and trying to improve on all the different stages 👍
nice driving! I saw other people doing hand-on impressions of the game build and their driving was all over the place.
Thanks mate! Appreciate that.
well deserved early access build Sim - keep up the good work! 🎉
I'm getting more positive each time I hear the handling is spot on and can't wait to test it out myself. the only concern is my hardware at this point and I'm really hoping to see DLSS implementation so I won't have to struggle too much before playing with the screenshots again! 😅
Yes it will come with DLSS, I Sau this Option in Menu while another preview…
Very nicely made. Informative and interesting!
Thanks mate! Appreciate the compliment.

And yes, I prefer my HUD/OSD to be completely off, except for the timer perhaps. All these things are very distracting for someone with ADD.
Pre ordered. Got 15 more days. Wish i had the early access. I will be bk in top 20 in the world maybe top 10 again. Lets goooooooooo
It's really good. A nice variety of styles.

In my honest opinion, overall I think EA Sports WRC does tarmac better than RBR. It's never been RBR's strongest.
@@SimsRacingDesign Comparing with which RBR physics B)? Last NGP with updated ffb rate on some last-gen stages like Valstagna, Biskupice or that polish hell feels incredibly spot on to me.
It was one of the latest NGP builds I believe. The last time I went for an RBR drive was about 6 months ago, I think. I did drive Biskupice.
@@SimsRacingDesign OK sir, you got my attention now. Just need damn VR working with EA WRC... and preferably not being DLC sold separately for each eye, too.

I'm glad you're sayin its not Rally on ice like Dirt Rally 2. I enjoyed everythin but the grip in that game, basically it was like drivin on slicks on frozen mud... but on every track
On dry tarmac it's a massive improvement. Literally day and night.
How come? The grip levels in Dirt Rally were always beyond too high. This is what frozen mud with slicks drives like: th-cam.com/video/cOmlb4QquQ0/w-d-xo.html at 1:53.
Glad you got a copy. What would you say is a fundamental difference from dirt 2.0 (outside of stage length).
Definitely the tarmac handling.
@@SimsRacingDesignhow about lock items ea is terrible on that and it's still using 2.0 engine and so far no one has mention any major improvement on the physics like there is no tire advance simulation or even the environment changing.
@@Sherlock245 They are using Unreal Engine for this game
Have you question why codemaster under ea have never shown any trailer about the physics?? Look at motorsports even That is far better in the physics.
Yes ea has lost million on million in money over their money hunger tactics. They also been under several lawsuit.

Thanks mate. It's a proper workout when you properly push. 😁
in my opinion there is something wrong with rbr fans. for them, a more difficult game is more realistic.

One of the three straps underneath the seat has already snapped so it's slightly less comfortable to sit in. I don't really have a budget to invest in a new seat at the moment. Still recovering from the massive investment I made to put a brand new gaming PC together as well as a new monitor.
As long as it feels more like WRC Generations than Dirt Rally 2 I'll be happy
Said no one ever
@@rona6841 well we know at least one person said it dont we numnuts
It won't feel like WRC Generations or DR2.0. It'll feel more realistic than both of them.
Bro is already setting world record in the game
Still a lot to gain in there though. Haha
That was only my 4th attempt.
Oh man oh man oh man can’t wait. I hope code masters goes ham on the unreal engine graphics too dlss 3.5 path trace some day ❤
You and me both, mate!
What's the tyre management like? It doesn't seem as in-depth as it was in the previous WRC titles where you even could put different types of tyres on different wheels at the same time and had to manage your set of tyres throughout a single rally event.
It's more or less the same as in DR2.0. I was hoping for cross fitting tyre compounds but I didn't find the option.
@@SimsRacingDesign That's what I thought, which is really disappointing and a big step back from the previous WRC titles ☹
Thanks for clarifying!
Haha
The TV replays do look a bit odd though I must admit but when you are driving, it feel properly good.
The instant stop after the finish is only in time trial. You drive up to the time control in career and championship mode 😉
@@SimsRacingDesignexactly in my opinion this should always work.
Well, the movements of the car are a result of how the car physics react to the surface.
Hey man... nice driving out there... just wanna point out some key things about this game... one thing that nobody has pointed out is that it has a better sense of speed than DR 2.0... cars in Dirt Rally 2 make you feel like you're going faster than you're going...
It's quite the workout when you push the cars.
I personally didn't like the DR 2.0 way that was the whole community in the same monthlies... it's more personal when it's less people and more of a rivalry when you're trying to pass that one damn guy that is in front of you... hahaha
Really excited for your next vids as well 😃
The next video will have max surface degradation. Won't be Kenya though.
@@SimsRacingDesign Great to know... Greece would also be nasty with full degradation... no idea what you picked... 😃
One is a American rally and the other one is a European event.
But in this vid hes in a rally2 car.
Yeah, you're right. Forgot about that already! Haha
Put the two next to each other and you'll see the massive difference, I'm sure.
Aaaah ideaal de zondagavond ne sim filmtje 😋👍🤘
Geniet er van! 😁
I’m thinking the same as you regarding the liveries of the cars . Surely the season pass will contain liveries
They will. We know that for a fact. 😉
Excelente, éxitos
Thanks mate!
It's a vast improvement over DR2.0. I didn't exactly hate WRCG but they didn't prioritise the right aspects. They did do certain things right though.
Thank you.@@SimsRacingDesign
You are welcome.
Yo sim how the fabia wrc 05 sound does it have the same engine sound from dr2.0 or they change it?
Can't say as I wasn't able to test that one out, unfortunately.
Thanks for this info. Really helpful! Does it handle as good as SLR EVO on tarmac?
I never got into SLR Evo as the game had a lot of issues back then which made me uninstall it.
Good run🎉
Thanks mate!
the game looks so promising i am really exited for 31st Oct.
Exactly, the developers of ACC left the door open for custom liveries. Not sure that'll be the case for EA Sports WRC.
How do you feel the physics of the car on gravel and asphalt? How's the feedback? Compared with Dirt 2, thank you in advance
Tarmac is a massive step forward. Gravel is also improved. It has more detailed now.
What do you think about the body roll especially in the cockpit? Everything seems a bit too stationary to me.
Yeah, it is very stable but that's normal for these Rally1 cars on tarmac. If you watch onboard footage of the real cars, you'll see the same thing more or less.
i wish they would add the pre-hybrid WRC cars in the future.
You have the 2020 Ford Fiesta WRC and the 2017 VW Polo R WRC which never competed due to VW pulling the plug on their WRC programme after the whole emmision situation.
Did you drive any rwd cars? How do they handle?
Check out my next video and you'll have your answer. 😅
@@SimsRacingDesign 🤣ok you got me
13:52 Hope this gets fixed hah
Yeah, not sure why the grass was crossing the road there... Haha
The only preview video anyone needs to pay attention to…
This stage has got everything needed to make Monte from DR2.0 perfect - in a realistic world.
Im guessing the default setup is with soft tires, maybe with hard or medium the grip would be more to your and our liking?
Not necessarily a tyre situation. Think I need to play with the car's setup a bit more.
lol, that part of gras on the road. but driving looks great. really will loose out now with a gamepad. Def need to check for a wheel. even just to train for my real racing, rx and possible rally.
It'll be worth investing in a wheel 😉
@@SimsRacingDesign yeah, just I think what for a PS5.
Depends on your budget. I'm very happy with my TS-PC Racer to be honest which should work for PS5 as well. I don't exactly have a massive budget to spend on wheels etc. I use mine until it breaks and I have no other choice than to buy a new one. Haha
Is the program over? Can i ask how long ago you applied to the ea creator network?
@SimVansevenant I'm glad you got access to it, sounds like you have put in a lot of effort!
I really have. And even then I almost missed out. I only had access from last Friday. Others have had it for weeks.
Hi! I have the same PC specs as you. How would you say your experience was with game performance?
Can't really give you a response as the preview game build still had to undergo lots of performance optimisation. It was already pretty good though so it should be sorted out by the time it releases.
@@SimsRacingDesign Thanks, it looked pretty good from your video. It gives me hope that my machine can run it well enough to be smooth :)
Is it possible to download car settings from Steam shop from orher players , Just like in F1 from EA ?
I don't know if that'll be possible as the online features weren't open yet.
@@SimsRacingDesign oke thank you , maybe you know or hear something 😉
You are welcome. I suspect we'll find out soon enough.
What are your wheel and ffp settings ? Just to have a baseline when the game comes out
Wheel rotation is at 540°. FFB ingame is all maxed out at 150, except for collision and something else. The self alligning torque I put at 115 I think. The wheel FFB settings are all maxed out.
is it possible to play on gamepad?
Yes, it'll be possible.
About time, things are looking up! You and Jimmy, only opinions that matter.
Wow that's one hell of a compliment! Truly appreciate it!
Lucky wish I could test it with my 600+ hrs on dr2 lol 2 weeks left
To be fair Sim has done plenty for the community building hype for this game! im sure all of us with 1000's of hours would have liked to try it.

Can you elaborate on that? I don't follow entirely.
Waaait is that ADD7ADHD thing to have the co-driver volume really high? As I have ADHD and I also like to have it really high volume.
Yes, it is. If it's not high enough, all the sound jumble together and my brain can't filter out the co-driver. When I adjust the volume for the car audio and the co-driver, I'm able to hear him clearly and can actually understand him. ;)

I haven't seen any information about how many Co-Drivers there are in the game. It would be cool to choose between two in each language
Maybe I'll switch to an English-speaking passenger then
My son has just asked me is it going to be compatible for the Xbox One S?
Yes, it will be. 😉
@@SimsRacingDesign Absolutely fantastic thank you.
The reason I ask is that the new Forza isn't. :(
because let me ask you a question, have you driven a WRC car to think that they have too much traction?
