Thank you very much, for this channel. It’s the finest comparison channel that there is, and does a superior job in highlighting the differences between formats. This has me really looking forward to seeing the Seven 4K in action!
It's funny, because in 2010, when this film was released on Blu-ray, for the first time, the pressing was unparalleled in beauty. We must of course put ourselves in the context of the times. But with this new 4K version, you might have to take a little time getting used to it because there are a lot of changes in this new pressing. Thank you so much for this new comparison!!!!!
Great Job once again Moon, Thank you not sure about a purchase, I believe they changed the audio on the 4k also
Looks like they dialled back some of the dark-brown color grading of the 2010 edition. I like it. It now has more of a 70s look to it which suits the film.
stupendous moon!!!❤
I don't know but the bluray colors looks more related with topic of the movie, more dark feeling.
I like the new master. I just wish they would have given us a Dolby Atmos soundtrack, I know some movies don't need it but it seems like a lot of newer releases aren't really doing anything with sound.
However, there is an alternative. If you have an amp that decodes Auro 3D well….you’ill see the result is rather surprising and in other words you no longer need Dolby Atmos !
@@Mymoonization I do have that option and it does help, I just like the supplied Atmos sound better than the upscaling from Auro 3D. Thanks for the reminder though. I may pick this up now!
@ agree, it's surprising how good sound upscalers are. I dont have Auro 3D but use DTS Neural X. To be honest, most films don't even have great Atmos object metadata and are static. Only a few moments there is dynamic object data available so overall, the upscalers do a great job to provide additional static sounds anyway in height or other additional speakers that aren't part of the original mix.
I do love DTS Neural X !
I enjoyed the new shadow detail and contrast in some places, but still prefer the color timing of the standard Blu-ray release overall. The new color has a bit more cooler push at times giving a hint of green tints in some scenes.
Agree !!!!
@ thank you for continuing to post content like this.
@@alim998097 My pleasure !!!!
Not sold on this one. It’s an upgrade at $12 but not right now. I’ll stick with my Blu ray which I haven’t probably watched in 8 years.
right off the bat, I think your tone mapping from the HDR is making these 4k samples too bright
I don’t think they are to bright because there is more highlight detail as well as shadow detail.
What does DI stand for?
"Digital Intermediate" so you might shoot a film on a bunch of different cameras, some 4k digital, 8k digital, maybe a couple shots on an actual film camera, I know there's one shot in Batman v Superman from a Go Pro lol. But then you compile all the footage and create the working cut of the film and then you choose a consistent resolution to work on it in post production. In this case, they actually went back to the original cut (the original camera negative), rescanned it all, then worked on the restoration work at 4k, so we now have a "4k DI" Most of the MCU films have 2k DI's because there's just so much CGI that it's easier and faster to render everything out at 2k and integrate it into a 2k image.
Also, the "digital" part of "digital intermediate" specifically refers to doing all the post work digitally, typical now, as opposed to how they used to do all the post work (color grading and such) analog, or directly on film. They actually did that with Oppenheimer recently! Pretty awesome! There's a video of Hoyte Van Hoytema (the cinematographer) talking about doing all the color grading analog for Oppenheimer! It's super cool!
DI's Nuts.
@@jjb2385 precisely!
@Jimburai awesome thank you! With all the different formats and releases mixed south CGI it's harder to just find a great quality movie that hasn't been so over produced post production. Finding a good blend of all of those elements is what's makes the movie watching experience regardless of when it was released. Thanks again and keep up the great work!
yo can u do one for shout blu ray of FT13th Part 2 vs FT13th Part 2 On 4k that would be great thx🤘
