Oh yah and they will show up at your boat with a bunch of AK,s and unlawfully board your vessel and shut you down and the 500K figure is not the common most fishermen work there ass off for a 200k season that will most likley break even after taxes and bills
this is the type of law enforcement that would give an old lady a ticket for going 56 mph in a 55 mph zone. can winds and tides move a net by a few feet? Could there not be a 50 foot buffer zone? Ban deep sea trawlers and all their destruction caused. dead marine life, wasted non-target species that get killed and thrown back overboard.
While I appreciate this for some stocks that are overfished, Bristol Bay sockeye are some of the most sustainably harvested and intently managed anywhere.
If Bristol Bay Sockeye wasn't fished in this manner the rivers would putrefy from the amount of dead fish that have spawned that it would kill that years salmon run. Its couldn't be managed any better.

There are always fishing hogs and crazy skippers. You guys have a thankless job. If it weren't for you there would be killings, it gets crazy.
I can’t believe how much money alaska spends patrolling this fishery but we don’t have enough money to plow snow.
