WHY DOES EVERYONE DO INVISIBLE ZIPPERRRSSSSSS That's my one complaint about the Pretty Dress Co. dress I just bought. It's STUNNING but ugh. Invisible zipper. Why. Also thanks for making me aware of yet another group where I can irresponsibly indulge in pretty dresses.
I came across trashy diva on a road trip to New Orleans in 2003! I was in college and loved everything but couldn't afford to buy. At that time her website sold some corset style (think house of the rising sun, burlesquey Victoriana) dresses and !lamps! mostly made with a mix of new and antique or vintage materials. It's great to be reminded of the brand after so many years and see it thriving. Very different now, but I still like it!
I'm a bit confused on why the Geisha Fans and Absinthe prints are problematic. The fans are beautiful. To me they read as very stylized, but not insultingly cartoonish. I have seen Japanese fans similar to them in person. The women on the other print look similar to examples of Japanese folk art I have seen as well. It's not a half-assed, butchered copy. For context, I lived in Okinawa for several years growing up. I know what Geishas are (if you've never seen their performance costume look it up now). I also found most Japanese people loved sharing their culture with others and took pride in it inspiring others.
I do fear the whole 'dry clean only' bit on their label... a problem I've found with a lot of repro brands, actually. Here's a question for you, as a collector (I've only recently finally purchased from them): when you say hand wash, are we talking literally, or "hand wash" (which to me means 'put it in a mesh bag and wash it on the gentlest, and of course coldest, washing machine setting and pray it doesn't shrink)? (and hang dry)
They are some of my favorite dresses. To start out join Desperately Seeking Trashy Diva on Facebook. It is a great way to get lower cost second hand TD dresses so you can find out what you like.
Your body shape is just so great for these styles. I’m soooooo jealous of your silhouette. My boobs are not proportional to my torso/waist (boobs too small or trunk too wide? Who’s to know???). Anyway, I love how you work with the body you have. I’m trying to do the same, but I do sometimes have boob envy (disregarding the issues that come with boobage - I definitely don’t envy that).
Me: knows Ohio is like the 7th most populated state in the US *someone else is from Ohio* Me: that’s impossible I have never seen you before. I think in recent years clothes shopping has improved (I think, I don’t really remember the state of women’s clothing when I was ten), although I live in the suburbs, but I still prefer to make/thrift mine (I get the old grandma stuff no One wants). THE MOVIE THEATERS, HOWEVER… let me see a movie without explosions and a man named Chris, I beg you.
Let me know what your favorite print, cut and style is! Also, please comment with any other brands you would like me to review.
I love the "Lovebirds" dress!
@@somewhereinoregon541 Thank you! It is far and away my favorite dress.

It is because we got lazy with lapped zippers. And you are welcome, they are one of my faves

Good review! Would love to hear more about some of the '30s/ '40s repro brands. Like Pin Up Girl Clothing. Or Vivien of Holloway.
Thank you so much Meghan! I will absolutely look into reviewing those brands!
I was in NoLA almost a month ago and didn't know about this.
I like the Ashley cut
You look fabulous! All the dresses!!!💕
Thank you so very much! That is so kind of you.
Windy is good! It enlivens the clothing.😊
LOVE this videao! and your collection! You have some great prints! Lord woman, you are preacing to my chior! about everything!
Thank you so much! I do enjoy my dresses, that is for sure.
So lucky you have a white plaid streetcar!
It took me finding another plaid and trading it. But I love it SO MUCH! Thank you for watching. :)
I love the Ashley dress. Very flattering on you. Where did you find that style??
I heard about it as being one of the better cuts of this brand and was that ever true!
Why do people have invisible zippers? I mean I hate sewing them, but why do people hate having a garment with them?

Yeah, sometimes it is merited, but most of the time I do the gentle cycle and air dry. Cause I am CHEAP! 😂
I LOVE dresses in the 1950's style! Will definitely check out the Trashy Diva website

Could you review house of foxy?
I currently don’t have any House of Foxy, but if I find some pieces I like I sure will.
