How Good is Spencer Rattler Actually?

- Despite his up-and-down college career, Rattler entered the 2024 NFL Draft with hopes of finding a team that could develop him into a consistent starter. He was eventually selected in the 5th round by the New Orleans Saints. Given his pedigree and natural talent, many saw this as a steal for the Saints, who could take the time to develop Rattler behind an established veteran.
However, being drafted in the 5th round is a far cry from the early first-round projections that followed Rattler early in his college career. *So* the question remains: can Rattler live up to his potential in the NFL, or will he continue to struggle with the same issues that plagued him in college?
The Talent Is There, But Consistency Is Key
When evaluating Spencer Rattler, there’s no denying that he has all the physical tools to be an elite quarterback. His arm strength allows him to make every throw on the field, and his ability to extend plays with his legs adds a valuable dimension to his game. When he’s locked in, Rattler can look like one of the best quarterbacks in football, as evidenced by his performances against Tennessee and Clemson in 2022.
*But* the biggest knock on Rattler throughout his career has been his consistency. His decision-making and accuracy have been erratic at times, leading to turnovers and missed opportunities. In the NFL, where the margin for error is even smaller, these issues could be magnified. For Rattler to succeed at the next level, he’ll need to improve his ability to read defenses, make quicker decisions, and avoid forcing throws into tight windows.
But sometime athletes just need an opportunity to prove themselves. Spencer Rattler had worked his way into a backup role and now with Derek Carr sidelined, Rattler has an actual shot to step in as the starting QB. This will hopefully offer the Saints with more versatility in the QB position considering Rattler has proven that he can extend and make plays on his feet.
Quote “ "We talked a lot as a staff about what we felt like was the best thing for us and give us the best chance to win the game," Allen said, [via the team website](www.neworleans.... "That was the decision that we made and we're excited about him getting the opportunity to go in there, and we'll let him go play and see what he can do."
Conclusion: A Quarterback with Untapped Potential
**So**, how good is Spencer Rattler? On one hand, he has the raw talent and potential to be a starting quarterback in the NFL, and perhaps even a star if he can iron out his inconsistencies. On the other hand, his college career was marked by uneven performances, and his ability to develop into a reliable pro remains uncertain.
Ultimately, Rattler’s NFL future will depend on whether he can learn from his past mistakes and grow into the quarterback many once believed he could be. If he can do that, he may still have a bright future ahead of him.
With the right offensive Coordinator and a offensive line doing their job! I think he would be very successful!💯💯💯
Rattler Time
Let’s Go
I really really really believe .
Oklahoma threw him to the side and hurt his confidence. He needs the right coaches. Look at Darnold now.
Rattler will hopefully shine. But like everyone knows the OL can’t hold up pass protection for more than two or three seconds. If the blocking sucks for the run and passing what is the answer, because Hanner is up next. After that, what then? He will probably be playing from the shot gun. I would expect just to give him an extra second. It doesn’t look good for the Saints.
Isn’t really nothing we can do about the line.
They were fine before the saints were ambushed by injuries to every player we have that matters smh
Yeah she failed to mention he was playing behind a really bad oline and defense and was making stuff happen
Bullshit excuses. What excuse will you make tomorrow when he sucks!
@@DerekwhodatCarr111 he won’t
@@DerekwhodatCarr111 you want him to do poorly dont you lol
@@DerekwhodatCarr111that’s the same excuses as Derek, at least rattler can run😂
Well done on the video. Thank you.
His OL is decimated with injuries. He’ll be running for his life. Bucs 24 - Saints 10.
Our defense doesn’t give up many touchdowns
@@XxRico199Your special teams and offense do tho 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@XxRico199they will when the give baker short field positions.
@@xxstnickyboi5606 i can’t argue with that but new QB hopefully he can make something shake
Also Todd Bowles Is going to throw the kitchen sink at him with some crazy blitz schemes
I'm all in anything better than Carr
🤦♂️
Do you still believe that ?
2 picks 55% competition 💀
Swiss cheese OL, I guess we'll see. Do any of you really believe a ROOKIE can do what Carr could not?
that Hooptie? what’s so good about it? engine overhauled?
It's a pretty different situation. While people kept mentioning the Chiefs were injured, the Saints were more injured. But this time, the injury report for the Bucs looks similar in length to the Saints' injury report. It's also a divisional game, at home (as opposed to playing at Arrowhead, one of the harder arenas for other teams to play at). McGovern also was with the team this week as opposed to being brought in a few days before game day. Lucas Patrick is also questionable (which means he might play). Also, consider that last week our interior o line was among the worst rated in the league. I think that can be very motivating to improve (I image a coach would really try to make this a learning experience).
Rattler would probably be more mobile in the pocket and is used to playing with a crumbling o line. I imagine the coaches have been scheming: it's a very important game and they know the situation on the o line and that they're using a rookie. Don't be surprised whatever the result of that game is. It could be a super close game, it could be a shut out either way imo as far as I know. I'm excited for it.
