Kubiak and the Saints QB coach have been working with the QBs on their feet work. I am sure he got an ear full with his heal coming up before he threw. Great breakdown.
As a thirty five season ticket holder at OU, I saw Spencer’s Talent it wasn’t the the same as Caleb’s but it was very good. His maturity was not what we hoped it was and stepping in as a freshman after that recent run was very difficult. I thought and hope he would gain maturity over time and I believed he did but only the future will tell. I am rooting for him.
Still think Rattler is the biggest steal of the draft besides maybe Quinyon Mitchell

Same with Drew brees. Brees was on those tippy toes on almost every snap

For the first Gold line passing play I think you should have looked out for his clear out wrote on his third and fourth option because there was an open guy over there he should have seen when that guy jumped on the outside of his corner the play on the left side of the field was covered

Hey JT thanks for this vid, I’m glad you pointed out that his footwork isn’t clean. I was thinking it was him not moving fast enough in the pocket, like he’s still in college. But with clean footwork, that could be what takes him to the next level. Or does he need to improve his speed too?
Now THIS is what I’ve been waiting for. He looked really good. Hoping he’s our future qb for years to come

Rattler has arm talent and is a better athlete than the numbers say. There are questions about him though, hence the 5th round pick.
For one reason or another he lost his spot in high school and at Ok. He seemed very cocky, too cocky. But at USC he had to played tough football behind a baaad line.
He now seems more humble.
My general question is, why and when did QB size become irrelevant?
I want and hope he will learn and develop. But he seems like a college QB to me.
Certainly worth a shot in the 5th.

Good review of Rattler. On that 3rd and 9 play he did not even look to his left - unless his read was right to left 🤷🏿♂️I hope coaching can correct that lil last step back he does
I understand he was under pressure and bailed out of the pocket but how he explains the top option reads as your one and 2 had he rolled out of thebpocket and gone up he would have seen the 2 defenders come down and left the top wide out wide open...i get he was under pressure bailed the pocket but it will be interesting to see how and wich way he bails from the picket whether it be or north or south more often then not
It’d be cool if by the end of the season Spencer Rattler is in the ROTY race. I was a fan of Derek Carr back in the day, but I don’t believe he will last the whole season.
He is in a battle with Jake Haener for the #2 spot. Break down of his snaps would be cool. Haener having a better camp

Rattler is more like a giveaway instead of a steal.
He looks like Mahomes running. Just enough speed to keep defenses from forgetting about it completely.
Ha the Saints subreddit calls him Dark Mahomes - kinda looks like him but has had a rougher, bumpier road to the NFL and flashed some ego stuff as a high school athlete that ostensibly he’s better with now.

Sadly it will also be as you say an l fest all season for us as our o line is horrid. Fuaga will end up all pro imo but the rest of the line is bad to terrible.

haener was pete carmichaels guy. rattler is klint kubiaks guy. kubiak had a part in drafting rattler. penning is looking like a bust. they just drafted penning for o-line help.
@@joedog3977 Penning was a FIRST ROUNDER, they counted on his being a starter. Regardless of whose "guy" these players are, this is on Allen, he has got to go.
No I thought he could have selected the more open guy on the first pass and take the short yardage a completion beats of 50/50 ball any day don't get me wrong it's not the worst pre-snap read but when you snap the ball you still have to adjust to coverage Taysom Hill was better than that on day one

Idk if Rattler ever truly recovered mentally from losing his job to Caleb Williams. It tended to show up in big moments with his decision making.

If ever there was an example of an anticipation throw, *this* is premium tape for me, the rando lameo guy on the Internet.
I thought JT was being a bit dumb, because there's no time to throw, you're saying you got this look, and I'm like, no, no way, he's not beaten the defender, and you're just saying that retroactively.
Then I go back, and I look at the play, and the timing. JT's right (surprise!): if you recognize the look, and you follow that receiver, he *does* start to get to his break around the defender, and Rattler hasn't been merced from the left.
*Yet*.
As in, ANY hesitation, like from a random person on the Internet that doesn't, y'know, train to play football? Yeah, the amount of time it took me to process what I was seeing, I'm dead. On the ground, *maybe* breathing, but probably asleep.
For Spencer to make the throw, he *has* to know where the ball is going, *when* it needs to be thrown, *BEFORE* he's throwing it. There is no...there's no reaction in the moment. Not enough time.
And that, of course, is anticipation, and my *god* is football ridiculously difficult.
Edit: Re-watching, and I *still* can't see the guy being open with enough time to throw the ball. Duuuuude, this game is *rough* to play. Absolute respect to you guys.

Seems like he is wasting the same amount of time as if he had patted the ball on some of these. He doesn’t appear to actually pat the ball, he is just wasting the same amount of time and motion momentum, as if he had patted the ball

Honestly as "bad" as last season was for us, if we just had a competent backup QB we make the playoffs. It looks like our offensive line is just as bad this year....Rattler already looks like a better QB decision-wise than Winston. I have confidence in him and Jake if Carr gets knocked out.

I'm an Okie fan and was glad he left. Never liked Ratler. When he gets hot, he is impressive. He just makes bad decisions a lot. He also tends to wait too long to let it go. He has always had bad footwork. If they could get a good QB coach to fix those feet and learn to let it go on time, he might have something. How many guys could you say that about....

@@_WEsTWooD we have more depth in our skill positions than they had depth in their secondary. Rattler was throwing to AT Perry, who is probably our WR3, Calling Holker, who is quite possibly TE1 this year, Jordan Mims, Samson Nacua, and Jacobson. Most of those guys are pretty solid 2s or 3s or better, while most of the Cardinals secondary were 3s and 4s or not even listed on their depth chart.👍🏿🤷🏿♂️

a high draft choice QB who doesn't work out sets a team back years and even a lot more years when they won't admit their mistake. giants pay daniel jones 40 million this season, so he is staying, but he's neither good nor reliable so drew lock is aquired. they really like devito. so the giants could stand a good chance of solving their QB taking rattler with a late round pick, but instead again screw themselves into oblivion. does joe schoen really know what he is doing or he just another empty suit who gets ahead through mastery of corporate nonsense speech?
