If inflation was calculated like it was in the late 70's it would be in double digits. When you leave staples like rent, gas, and critical food items out of inflation calculations the government stated inflation is nothing but a bad joke. If China did not have to build an army and send it overseas [as many nations did last century] how much would it save them to just... loan money to any nation to get them past the brink, then pull the plug. Yes, all that money goes down a black hole, but with no shots fired, no planes/bombs/tanks or any hardware at all... they achieve the same objective as the allies did bombing Germany in ww2: cause fighting ability to cease on account of lack of operational resources. If you consider training costs, a loan program would save the likes of China billions and it's a net win: undamaged infrastructure, with the easiest access to natural resources possible. ~All it takes is morons in congress to pull it off ~
