Sit back and enjoy the story of our homesteading journey so far. Since we got our property over two years ago we've had to learn an immense amount. There's been some ups and downs and a ton of hard work to get to this point. Self reliance is the way to go in this day and age. Thought we'd share our story with the world hoping to inspire others to do the same. #homesteading #farming #smallfarm

Can you tell me a little more about the vacations you offer? It's wonderful to see how you're developing the land and constructing these great spaces for all the animals
Well we’ve been transforming this place into an interactive farm stay. We list with Airbnb and rent out the century farmhouse as a short term rental. All 90 acres and animals are accessible to guests and I usually give a tour and/or spend time talking about the animals. You can always email us for more info too. Thnx for the comment 😊

@@karensmutny6090 oh yeah watermelon eh, I have ropes in our coops too but I’ve only done lettuce or cabbage.

Thanks 👍 I'm born and raised in Toronto. was most recently living in Whitby for 14 years then moved north a bit...not too far but far enough to be in peace. Prices all over Ontario are ridiculous anyway but TO takes the cake, at least further out you can get a decent house in TO it's just out of control. Our very first starter house was at Coxwell/Queen and kept moving on up from there. I really don't miss Toronto at all.

Yes I often think warmer too but warmth brings other issues like relentless heat & humidity, bugs, snakes, natural calamities etc. best of luck to you. It’s a great life anywhere you can make it happen that’s the key.

Thanks a million. I like to Think of building like cooking. You have to know the basics…measuring, using different tools, angles, techniques etc just like dicing, chopping, frying, baking etc. Once you know the basics the rest is creativity just like a recipe. Practice and making mistakes helps too. Don’t buy cheap tools either, not worth it. 🤙

Thank you for your videos! I've learned everything about OES from your videos. I was dreaming of having one and now I do! We live in Georgia, not the state, the country, and Shaggy is the third, youngest Old English Sheepdog here 🤭🥰❤❤ Please tell me, how do you keep Molly's beard so white? 🙏🏼😅
Great to hear about Shaggy, love the name. I'm happy the videos helped. OES will naturally get a shade or two darker around the mouth. Molly actually gets groomed by a pro every 8 weeks so they keep it looking pretty great and she doesn't get matted. Molly has extremely dense hair and gets matted very easily, I can't keep up brushing with all the work I have on the property. Olive has very fine hair and is easily brushed and maintained.

How do you keep the blueberries from taking over?
you mean spreading? The 2nd year after planting the blueberries we installed a geotextile weed barrier and it prevents most of anything from growing...not perfect but good enough. We actually got our first blueberry harvest this year, it was so cool and they were so sweet right off the bushes.
