why 14K watches and only 956 likes? how it's can be????
if I could make more than 1 like - I would do 10000 likes only by myself ;-)
hello from Ukraine
I also find ducks fun, before I notice them I'm already laughing when I see them walking.😁
That’s an amazing duck house! It would be awesome if you could walk us through how you made it or if you be willing to release a blueprint on how to make it 😊
I have a small flock of wild mallards that came and stayed after I made the mistake of feeding them. But I fell in love with them and absolutely adore these ducks. My flock varies from 6 to 36 depending on the time of year. Just before migration I will have up to 36. They’re coming to pack on the weight before they migrate and I have six that have adopted me and stay year-round. I want to make sure I’m taking care of my wild ducks correctly since they’ve decided to move in and stay with me. I am feeding them Parina premium duck chow. They also free range on our little lawn that we don’t fertilize or use pesticides on. And they have access to two little ponds plus, they have access to fresh drinking water all day. My ducks stay until about 8 PM and then they takeoff and then they’re back again at about 5:45 in the morning the next day. I guess they’re going to stay with their other friends. am I giving them the right feed? Do they need anything else?
Wowww❤❤
A true lover of nature and animals… what lucky animals they are blessed… wonderful place❤️
😁
Paradise in the orchard 🦆🦆!
Unlimited bugs for all day snacks lol.
That is a cool duck house
Thanks
Brewer's yeast is good for all animals, it also contains vitamin B, which keeps away many parasites, even muskitoes.
Very cool
Just today I found your videos. I am vicariously enjoying your life. I think you are doing a great thing. You have a gentle voice and a joyous lifestyle. You should take in home stays of city children.
Love this. Love all your animals and buildings for them. Had chickens and many pets. pet birds. Dogs cats snakes rats etc..Always loved Ducks living by a lake in the Pacific Northwest. They would come visit our lil neighborhood by the lake..🌞 I see them land in my backyard now and fly over often..
Aww thanks for the comment. They're very peaceful to watch eh.
thanks. i had no idea ducks were competitive with chickens in terms of egg production
Awesome thank you ❤ We just started feeding a couple of mallards. You have a lovely set up and duck's 🤗
Just found you. What a great personality you have. Great info. Thank you.
Yeah Chad brightens up my day :-)
Great video! 🦆
Glad you enjoyed it, Thank u.
Your kitty is so affectionate :)
♥️
Looking ducks in 4K... amazing !
You know it! I like doing the super close ups lol.
olive is very affectionate awww😍😍
She really is. She's even starting to get long with the cats.
You're good crazy, and so very creative!
🤪
Thank you! We built a pool party like yours. They love it
That is awesome!
Very good information about ducks. I absolutely LOVE that duck house, it's beautiful!! I can't believe you made that in two months! I would live in that thing, lol!! When I get my property I want chickens, ducks, goats and whatever else I can manage on my farm. Thank you for such great information!
Also, duck eggs are so so amazing along with goose eggs! I haven't had either in a few years - my lady that I used to get them from quit coming to our area unfortunately and boy do I miss them!
Glad you enjoyed it! Good luck to u. Investing in this property was the best things we'd done and only wish we could have afforded it earlier. Better late than never though eh. Sometimes we just eat duck eggs scrambled like chicken eggs Bigger egg, more durable shell and the ducks lay a LOT.
@@HiddenSpringFarm You guys are living my dream! Happy for your family! Sending lots of love to you all!
Thanks for the info. Always have a good time watching your videos. Becky from Kansas City
Awesome! Thank you!
Really enjoying all the great info. I inherited 2 geese and a duck recently and am learning all i can. I have chickens and dont want more chickens after they live out their lives. Very sweet girls but they are so susceptible to illness in my opinion.
Thnx for the comment. I love having both actually. But the fact is in three years here on the farm, only one duck has died…probably more than half dozen chickens have died. And I do all I can for my flock, it’s just interesting. Ducks are not for everyone, but they are incredible just the same imo.
@HiddenSpringFarm oh no...I was talking about the chickens being susceptible to many illnesses. Plus heat related death. You are right about the ducks and geese. Your videos are so full of info and very well done and enjoyable. Thank you.
Got a hankerin for some Cayugas.
Alright but do it get muscovy or pekins or maybe mixed???
This will be my first winter with ducks. How do the khaki Campbellsdo in winter? Do you use any heated water containers for winter? Last year I just checked the chickens' water a few times a day and refilled and chipped ice.
th-cam.com/video/UgsHsp5a404/w-d-xo.html watch this video it’ll help. Short answer is the kc ducks are amazingly winter hardy and yes I used a puck style heater all winter and it works great. If u just fill water it takes about 2 hrs fir it to freeze…more than enough time fir the duckies to do their thing. But you’ll need to give em fresh water multiple times a day. The heater lessens your work.
00:25 How I feel anytime I'm around my ducks
How much brewers yeast do you add to the feed for ducklings? And can you add it to the chick’s feed as well?
@@sarahbeltrand6847 I just add about 2-3 tablespoons for every 2 cups, seems to work well for me. I’ve never given it to chickens but I’m sure it would be fine.
I probably won’t get ducks. But good information
We don't have grass. We're in the hogh desert of southern Oregon. What would you suggest for raising ducks in this kind of environment?
Ducks are very adaptable, they don’t eat the grass really, they eat insects and slugs etc. I dunno if desert ducks are a thing. Water, shelter and feed is all they need really, I just find when they’re on grass there’s less mess.
@@HiddenSpringFarm thank you!
One important thing. You cannot feed ducklings medicated feed, ever.
Yes I should have added that in. I thought I had everything covered lol.
Can i ask why? I'm new to chickens and ducks I've had chickens for a while now. we have 2 ducks and they eat the chicken feed and are fine 🤷 the guy at tractor supply told me his ducks eat his chickens food and they've never had any problems with it.
@@olanizimmerman They can eat the chicken feed as long as it’s NOT medicated
@@evelynrogers7145 why?
Is Nyacin as mentioned it can be brought as a standalone supplements like yours? And how regularly to give it to them?
I found the most accessible niacin in my area is Brewers Yeast but you may have to research your own area. I just mix it in the food so they get some all the time. I only give it to ducklings too once they’re adults and out on pasture they eat a ton of insects.
Great Video but you never said how you keep them from flying away!
At the very start I threw one in the air and said they’re too plump to fly 😆. It has something to do with the centuries being domesticated and they have no wing development.
Ducks need higher protein than chickens, even when laying. They also need much higher calcium requirements.
If you own a black cat are they good luck?
@@jaysonwichern1943 I’ve had 2 black cats in my life and they have been my best cats so I say it’s good luck 🐈⬛
Ducks can fix up their houses using "Duck tape!" 😅🤣😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😆😆😆😆😆😆😂😂😂😂😂
Thank you! Do you need to gather the eggs with tongs, or do the ducks not mind human scent?
I just pick em up, it’s not an issue for them.
Hello! Love your videos which are of great help to me just starting out with ducks and chickens. Thank you for clarifying that ducks don’t need a pool. Can you tell me where I might find those general rectangular bins you use for the ducks to bathe in? Thanks so much!
@@suzannealden yeah sure thanks, I got them from either Home Depot or Lowe’s in the contractor section for mixing cement. They work great and are easy to clean. I’m still using the same 3 for over 2 years. Best of luck eh.
@@HiddenSpringFarm Thank you!!
at 5:08 i thought maybe a garter snake attacked the ducks butt... but it was no snake, lol.
you are more canadian than i am eh
Do you change out the water everyday?
Oh yeah they get fresh water daily
Was it just me or did he forget to talk about flight? I don't remember him mentioning that. It was one of the questions I had about ducks.
lol I don't know if I did either, I'd need to watch it back. But domestic ducks can't fly really, the most they can get is a few feet off the ground.
@@HiddenSpringFarm Great, thank you! We are buying a new house soon on over an acre and are thinking of getting ducks.
It was the first thing he mentioned.
I rescued a duckling 2 days ago he looks 5 days old I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing
give it water at all times, feed it starter chick feed, give it a heat lamp until it grows some feathers and try not to let it swim while it's still young cause it'll catch a chill.
Also, never give ducklings medicated chick starter. Non medicated only.
Very good point I should have mentioned that. Two of our hens just hatched 16 ducklings and two of them are yellow. Have you ever seen that with khaki Campbell?
